haha can relate to this. got a ps4 for christmas that same year with uncharted 4 and i thought it was the next level of gaming. granted i was still a kid and i hadn’t played any of the other games in the series, but the story was really engaging and it looked gorgeous.
It is really hard to believe it's been 10 years. I remember getting mine christmas 2013 after being under the impression they were impossible to get. Thought Battlefield 4 looked lifelike. Nostalgia sure is something else
I get it! It's kinda wild to feel nostalgic about something as “recent” as the PS4, but I totally feel that too. Even the PS5, which launched in 2020, gives me a nice feeling when I think back to the day I got it delivered in November 2020.
To be fair, BF4 has pretty good textures in MP and SP. I remember using it as a standard for graphical fidelity and would keep being disappointed when games released as late as 2018 had worse textures.
The PS4 has a special place in my heart for a couple reasons: 1. It’s the last console my parents got me when I was a kid 10 years ago. It resembled the last vestige of my childhood, and took me through middle school, high school, community college, and my first year and a half of university. 2. It was the console where I made online friends for the first time, and I’m still friends with them to this day.
We need to acknowledge that themes and the menu ambiance was a huge part of what made ps4 special. Hard to imagine Sony can’t see this. The quick access to home in game suspending it in memory felt unique and special off the back of ps3.
My day 1 ps4 launch model is just as clean and quiet as it was the first day I got it, going on 10 years. These things are amazing, and I love the original design. It was futuristic to say the least.
My (now) husband (then boyfriend) ordered us a PS4 bundle from Game back in 2015. I had had a tough year and was wanting to get back into gaming. Loved playing FFXV on it and it’s still going strong today as our main console. We have a lot less time to play on it now we have a little toddler but it is also great as a DVD player too! Looking forward to your 30 Platinums Part 3 video on Wednesday! Take care. Charlotte x
I remember getting my PS4 on September X 2016, it was a really awesome day. My dad knocked on the door and opened it, and he was carrying a PS4 box. I was amazed at this, and I’ve been playing on it ever since.
I was 20 in 2013 and I hadn’t pre ordered a ps4 so I was gutted. I then got in a car with a total stranger and drove for 4 hours to get one. Not the best decision I ever made
I remember being 16/17 and I had so much money saved up from working at Taco Bell… I said screw it and went and bought a ps4 a new tv and a decent amount of games.. one of the greatest consoles made. I can’t wait to get another one
Man I stood in line in 5 degree weather at Best Buy for 4 hours just for them to tell me they didn’t have anymore. Thankfully I got one at target about 3 week later. Good memories.
I bought a PS4 in summer of 2019, I did play on a PS4 before but it was my friend's console, it was a new and fresh experience for me, I miss those early days of owning a new console and I can't wait to experience it again once I get a PS5
This is the first of the series I actually got on launch day! Remember queuing at 11pm to pick up the PS4 on launch day, getting home booting up Killzone playing till 2am then school and running home to jump on and play
Mystic's office is looking like a playstation museum! One that I would pay for a walk through and I wouldn't be bored for the first time in a museum if he lectured me on the history of the company.
My man got CBOMBed. There will be more and more examples of this and similar events in the future, so stay physical instead of digital. Yes, the PS5 slim has an activation "problem", but it's not likely going to be a problem for the vast majority of users.
It doesn't even feel that long ago when the PS4 was released over 10 years ago. I remember getting the slim version back in 2017, and it was the first video game console I got brand new. I still enjoy my PS4 to this day with all the other game consoles I have. Still got to get a PS5, though later on at some point.
@@unicorntomboy9736 Yeah if I was going for full price I would have waited for Slim but I got mine on a 100 dollar discount during Black Friday so I don't mind, I have space for the bulky PS5
The one playstation console i skipped since im into PC gaming. Bought one for my nephews birthday on christmas but i never got myself one. Did pick up a ps5 when they went on sale here in France, just before the slim launched.
Ps4 and 2010s era really suited well. Specially the years from 2014-2018 was peak for ps4. I still know how i was hyped to get ps4 but sadly i didnt got coz i was in school and i already had pc. So now i am in collage getting ps5 hyped for that tho
Mannnnnn still remember the day i picked up mine, left work on lunch break and everything to pickup the system and had to wait another week to get paid to get a game to play lolol good times.
The PlayStation 4 was my first day one consul I remember going to target and pre-ordering it was like 25 bucks down time flies by had a lot of amazing times on that consul and I’m a proud day one owner of the PlayStation 5 as well and I’ve had a blast with the consul and look forward to what we’re getting in the future. Hopefully we’ll get some more exclusive announcements soon PlayStation for life.💙
I stayed up all night and got a launch day ps4. I remember the day I got it. I was a junior in high school. It still runs and works. I got a 1tb ssd in it.

I still cant believe PS4 is over 10 years old now. Man!! What a generation!! Bloodbourne, Dark Souls 3, Sekiro, Diablo 3 Eternal Collection, Batman Arkham Knight, Spider man, Uncharted and so on. COD became more controversial with every release after BO2 with the release of COD Ghost. But still this was an incredible generation.
I got mine on launch day with the official stand as well and have left it on the downstairs TV since. Got the original packaging and everything still for both. I took most of any light scuffing on the gloss panel with scratch doctor and my stand still looks newish. I also keep it around for a P.T. machine.
Bro where tf did the time go where the PS4/Xbox One are now 10 years old... I still sometimes forget these aren't current gen anymore. I guess cause the PS4 is still somewhat going strong with most new game releases and updates, it's hard to forget it so easily. For being 10 years old, it still holds up greatly and feels like yesterday when it was fresh and new. I got mine during Christmas 2016 when I was given just enough money to buy one. Got the uncharted 4 bundle, and was loving everything about my new PS4 throughout the holidays. I think most of us are probably still enjoying PS4 games through the PS5 and with the better performance, it breathes new life into these already amazing games. PS4 will always be one of my favourite consoles!
I pre ordered my PS4 on PS Home at the PS4 Store in the Hub. It was a packaged deal. PS4, Watch Dogs game, a year of PS Plus for $459.99 + tax. I told my friend, and she did the same thing. My PS4 was at my door launch day. No camping at BestBuy or GameStop like many did.
Damn this one gives me memories, got the ps4 on launch, I was 16 when it came out. It actually still works but I gave it to my step brother, when I got my ps5. I still have my ps4 pro though. Got into many games thanks to the ps4, cant believe its been 10 years.
I remember getting my ps4 Christmas Day 2013 and how excited I was to play. All I had to play was Killzone shadow fall, need for speed rivals, and KNACK but I didn’t care I was so excited like many others!
Fond memory of my preorder being in limbo and then looking for it in stores with dad but for it to turn up that evening. My dad then cleaned it with a kitchen towel scratching the gloss few days later. He unexpectedly passed away several months after so those scratches on mine are sentimental now.
One idea for your collection: Get a spare Silver PS3 Phat and replace the silver trim on the console with a chrome trim from a dead launch model (Or learn how to custom paint the trim yourself) so you can try and replicate the PS3 that Kutaragi Ken showed off
I still have my launch PS4 that i got on midnight release. So many great memories. The ps5 has a long way to go before it comes any where close to matching the ps4 library HOWEVER by this time in the PS4 lifecycle (that being 3 yrs in) i think the PS5s library is superior so there is still a chance the ps5 can surpass the ps4 overall if it has a really strong 2nd half
