  • It's Time For A Safety Meeting! Our Semi-Truck Nearly Rolled Over. Things don't always go as planned, loaded semi took the corner too sharp. We shut down the HWY and Railway. Harvest is never easy, why would this year be any different?! Thankfully everyone is safe and harvest will resume. We value our employees and everyone makes mistakes. #Harvest #MillennialFarmerFail #LeaveItToTheProfessionals #FeedingTheWorld #WeDoItForTheViews

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Another driver here. 12 years, 1.5+ million miles.
Sometimes it's dark or you're doing seventeen dozen things trying to clear a corner or a road or dodge traffic or whatever else and some crap happens. Even the low-speed mistakes feel like they happen in an instant. If the worst you get out of it is a wrecker bill and maybe a little bent metal but all the people are okay and the load makes it too, put it in the book of learned experiences and go on. It's just a truck, it's just a trailer, it's just a load and the world isn't short of any of the three but good people are hard to come by and perfect ones don't exist.

A farmers life. Even when there's nothing to do, there's something that needs to be done. A full time farmer is a full time mechanic, full time manager, part time welder, plumber, electrician, carpenter, scientist, part time veterinarian, full time father/husband, I can't understand why any sane person would be a farmer. @@Grumble_ I grew up in northern Alabama, Roll Tide!, on a family owned farm. I picked cotton leftovers after the combines took all the easy boles. That was an after school job for me and a lot of my friends and family. We had 40 acres, corn and soybeans. A relatively small farm. Grandma kept half an acre for herself, tomatoes, cucumbers, turnips, okra and such. It wasn't an easy life. Grandpa worked outdoors every day. We kids worked every evening after school. Mom had a job in town, a real job, with health insurance and all the other benefits. Grandpa got sick one day, had to go to tbe hospital for the first time in 40 years. He had a bad heart attack, it left him crippled. Hiring hands would cost more than the farm made. We tried to make it work, but the only way would be for one or two of us kids to drop out of school and take over the daily work Grandpa did. He sold the farm when he heard this. His reason was to keep us in school, and build a better life than he had. A few of his grandkids didn't turn out so well, a few did okay, I'm a mechanic looking to open my own shop, a niece of mine has her own cleaning buisness, there's a cousin doing good, truck driver that owns his truck. We grew up poor and did what it takes to survive...

Second break was because the shackle at the end of the straps was not rated for the load they had on it and it just opened up. The good thing about these Mondagos goes is that they can find treasures in your field that give you a flat tires.😂

Most important thing is that no one got hurt. Equipment damage can be fixed. File that one under "stuff happens" and hopefully the rest of harvest is incident free.

Having owned and operated a heavy wrecker, hopefully this isn't how Glenn's Towing operates everyday.
Good thing that Dad Millennial Farmer had son Onyx move out of the way.

We deal with Glenns here in Northeast Wisconsin and i am more than impressed by what they have and how they use it, maybe it was just a green crew or the bigger rigs were on calls already.

I'm no expert, but this tow truck company was attempting to lift the whole trailer from near the middle, that's a very hard lift. It's no wonder the chain broke. They finally moved to the far back end of the trailer where they had better leverage to lift (less weight). I know from experience how much these guys charge and I am a bit surprised how they went about it, they could have badly damaged the side of your trailer and lucky no one got hurt.

"they could have badly damaged the side of your trailer"
He hasn't gotten the estimate yet on how much it's going to cost to make the trailer right Bad enough when one goes in the weeds without making it worse by a bad lift job.

All I can say is I would've rather worked for you than my dad. I can only imagine what he would've called me if I had been the driver. I really appreciate your attitude to your work and people.

watching you take those springs off the discs reminded me of when we were using John Deere 71 double disc planters and a fence staple would lock the discs together, causing them to drag and wear flat spots while not planting so we had to check every disc every pass. But when we only had 6-double rows it didn't take long.
