    Here is my honest review. I am from GA, lived in Atlanta for ten years, lived in Houston for 6 months, but lived in Tampa 4 years before Atlanta, but I moved back to Tampa in April and I honestly think it was the best move yet. Tampa is an up and coming place where African Americans are now realizing we can come do well in. As of my typing, housing costs are decreasing and jobs are increasing. See yall soon.

      I have only spent a week in FLL/MIA then we drove down to Key West but I swear up and down the people that we encountered just in every day life were the nicest kindest just overall happiest people. The driving scared me but other than that I loved it lol. I kinda feel like Florida might be the move for black folk looking for a welcoming place. Also it is anecdotal evidence but comments I've seen about Florida from black ppl general tend to lean positive. I am flirting with the idea because I could transfer my job there.

    • @equilabrada
      @equilabrada 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same with the “flirting with the idea” I just need peace. And to not live somewhere landlocked. I spiritually just do not thrive in landlocked areas. I need water. It cleanses and heals me in the deepest ways. Even when I don’t realize it. And one day I’d like to leave the country altogether in my 40s - 50s.
      Just leave the world behind and only show myself to family and show myself to the general public about as much as Folasade Adu.
      And wherever I land I’ll happily get to know my surroundings to find REAL ways to contribute to any community that blesses me to rest my head there and build a peaceful life for myself.
      But I’m not the type to just go somewhere new (whether in or outside the US) to forget who I am and become a culture vulture or be inconsiderate of the history of the land & its people.
      As long as I get to build the peaceful life I desire next to or surrounded by water in life; I’m happy. Seriously.

    I’m a northern transplant that has lived down here for years. I actually tell people that I feel bad for the local people who can’t be comfortable here because of us transplants. Tampa needs more employers and a better infrastructure. Moved here from ATL because of the chill vibe. But it’s gone now. With the crowding and COL, it’s no longer worth it. Dating as a BW sucks here and everyone I know says that. and i’ve seen it in the comments. I honestly feel like if you didn’t go to FAMU you don’t count as an AA.😂Just not sure how Tampa or Orlando has been on the list for Blacks to go. Places like Dallas offer way more jobs. We, as a race, need to stop moving to cities en masse. There is no utopia for us. The flag is right outside of J.P Morgan corporate site where I used to work. I see confederate flags up north where i’m from so it’s not just a FL thing. Leaving next month and excited for change. My daughters moved to NC and TX and are doing much better there. They miss the sunshine and tropical look, but say sunshine, beaches and palm trees don’t pay bills. 😊

    • @denisebycapricorn
      @denisebycapricorn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      "We as a race" It's culture not color. So if you're foreign, this does not apply to you. Black Americans have been moving & migrating between communities since 4 ever.
      Black people are from Orlando. Unfortunately, Black Americans are being & have been ethnic cleansed out of the State of Florida. Black Americans arent moving in mass city to city. Black Americans are scrambling for survival. Once, gentrification, eminent domain, immigration, greedy developers, greedy foreign investors, racist job out sourcing and more immigrants turned tranplants hits our communities (which are usually the oldest & historical places in these cities) everything goes belly up. NY & Detroit are prime examples.

    • @NowAbundant
      @NowAbundant 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is NO dating a professional BM in Tampa. They have NO interest in a BW. You can find a retired military BM with a wife in the Riverview, Brandon, Apollo Beach area. You can find a lot of men who have a gf/wife that doesn't look like his mother at the cigar bars but the end of the road for any aspirations of seeing anything that appealing to the eye. Good luck! 😂😂

  • @equilabrada
    @equilabrada 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This video was EVERYTHING I was looking for. The REALITY. It’s completely understandable to tell us that are trying to migrate to stay away. Because it’s awful that the natives don’t receive the “loyalty discount “ like you touched on. 💔
    And I hope you all don’t mind people moving there that genuinely would want to find real ways to help in the community. Not just move there and be selfish w/o being considerate of the natives. Or not get to know the history of the city/state from the actual HUMANS there. Not just the internet.
    This video put a lot into perspective; still going to visit for a few weeks to get a feel for it in person.
    Also what suburbs would you recommend for black women? Besides Brandon. If there are no others that is ok.
    Thank you so much for this video! You did amazing.🙏🏾🌹🌹🌹

      I agree on the Jacksonville piece. I fell in love with the south side but more than anything how blunt but actually hella kind the humans were in FL in general.
      So much so that I’m considering moving back. Just as long as I’m by the water or surrounded it I’m good. Because my soul literally just needs it and I don’t go against what my soul says. But when I go to new places I purposely will take what others judge as a “shxtty job” to sincerely HEAR from and learn the people. What they’re going through and to learn how over time I can contribute even though I’m not a native. Because the natives are just as human as I am. And it’s not humane to just go somewhere and be making things worse even if it’s unintentional…. Not contribute or connect with the humans in REAL meaningful or empathetic ways.

      And if this video was offensive you may not make it out there sweet baby. Because there are some people out there that can be rough around the edges frfr. Same as Chicago. Or NY. Or the Bay Area. Even Missouri.
      But I promise you this woman’s delivery on what to expect in Florida was really some light work lol.
      And she was real through and through.
      But at large in ALL states or countries it’s good to be understanding that the humans there are just as tired of the bs their governments throw at them + how the goal posts are always moved right when you think you’re getting ahead.
      So I just it’s wise to understand or at least mentally and logically empathize with the fact that the natives are just as exhausted as you are…..so much so that you find yourself watching videos like these to weigh the options of relocating.

    Hi I live in west Palm beach. I'm a black American woman and I will be moving to Tampa, Clearwater somewhere in that area because my son dad who is Spanish wants to move there. We are not together (we are co-parenting) but I'm still moving there in my own place because my son is still young (6 years old) and I want to be in every aspect of his life. If it wasn't for the dad....I would move to a different state as well. And then my autistic brother just moved into a group home in ocoee Florida which is another reason why we (my mom, dad, me and my son) are moving that way. Been in south Florida all my life.... originally from Georgia but I grew up in Florida. People from other states moving here have raised the cost of living. It's sad.

    I've faced wayyyy more racism In California than in florida florida not that racist to be honest yeah its flags but that's the same as somebody being racist without a flag. California is horribly racist state. It's more new Yorkers and up northerners in florida than people actually born in florida. It's in the data so half of these racist come from the north which proves the north just as racist.and it's conferdate flags up north as well Michigan and Missouri have them and some areas of new york I heard.

      Those confederate flags been there in Tampa Back when Tampa was mainly Black & White Americans. The city was very Southern. Most of this stare is Southern/Country with Swanps & Beaches. It had way more indigenous Black ppl. So the fact that is unrecognizable as such is disturbing

    Why tell people to stop coming to FL but you went to Canada? You sound just like those bigots who would tell you to go back to Africa. People have been migrating long before you were even thought of. People are in search of places they can afford to live, and that's just life. The issues aren't the people moving there ,it's the local government and lawmakers who need to get it together. You deal with who you vote for on a local and state level. The major cities are becoming over crowded but there's not one state that's too full.

    I have lived in several states and originally from Chicago - I get that gentrification and cost of living going up is a thing however a way to mitigate that is education and home ownership. We have to start seeing the opportunity available in situations like these instead of all the negatives. There are negatives - not disputing that. But the thought of telling people that live in the same country not to live there is terribly weird. But I empathize with the fact that you are grieving a town you dont know any longer . Just try to see the positives as well …. Lol and I’m moving sis 🥲 sorry In advance.
