Bibury is "the most beautiful village in England"

- Bibury was called that by the artist William Morris, and I reckon the prettiest buildings there are the weavers' cottages known as Arlington Row. They're now owned by the National Trust, and you can rent one to live in!
Visited lovely Bibury last September 2015. Hired a taxi from Kemble Train Station to Bibury for 50 pounds ( returned journey ) Visited St Mary's Cathedral, there was a wedding going on there . Had lunch at The Trout Farm, and went round taking pictures . Really enjoyed my visit to Bibury, it was worth the visit.
Pleased you enjoyed Bibury, and St Mary's church is a beautiful little building. There's been some form of church on the spot for at least 1000 years, probably longer.
I believe Bibury is definitely one of the most beautiful town of England !! I also think Bourton on the water & Castle Comb are !! I go between those 3 back / forth !! I finally made up my mind a short awhile ago that Bourton on the water & also Salcombe of Devon are the prettiest in England !!! Dartmouth is also up there next to 'em !! Then Bibury & Castle Combe ! Amazing places !!! I am always impressed how beautifully they have been kept / taken care of !!!! Thanks for this video !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
my dream village.
i stay in cape town and think there is nothing compared to the charm of a real English village.
thank you for sharing.
In Bibury, I met a 90 yo lady who still picks apples from her orchard, and shared some with me. I returned the gift a few days later with a home-made apple crumble for her.
NEVER go there! there are some horrible people there that will vandalize your car for being the wrong color.... an 84 year old man was forced to buy a grey car after village residents kept vandalizing his car because it was yellow because it "ruined" the sight of the village.
Trouble was (I heard) that he parked his banana car by the weavers' cottages, and a great many tourists reckoned it was spoiling the view for their photos. No excuses for vandalism at all, tho' his replacement metallic silver-grey Vauxhall Corsa is likely to be less of an issue. Hope so, anyway.
A pleasure. Bibury still manages to be a charmer, despite the high visitor count.
The English Eye
Still reason for me to never visit a place where people do things like this, specially to a senior citizen. It's disgusting and it cost him a lot of money. Yet NONE of this was his fault.
Thanks. i do love British countryside!
What a wonderfull place to relax. Thank you for sharing this beautiful movie.
I love Whitby of Yorkshire as well ! And St.Ives & Lands End !!! 😍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
I hate to be negative , but I've been to Bibury, although it s really pretty ,it's a bit like a museum . Like the rest of these villages in the Cotswolds there are hardly any local people living there anymore . You hardly see any families there it's mainly rich old people from places like London who've bought into a fantasy .
Beautiful England ..I want to go back there !!
Does anyone live in those old houses anymore?
The National Trust owns the site, including these old houses, which sometimes come on the market for rent. Right now the NT has rentals that include (not in Bibury) a big place called 'The Aviaries.' It's got 5 beds, 3 baths, 3 reception rooms, in a woodland clearing with garden and paddocks, outbuildings and stables. Drawback is that the rent is about $2500 USD per month. Oh well.
I'm gonna do everything to live on an old fashion house, i want to have a simple plan, I'm not really rich and not really poor, and I'll do everything to own a farm, and to live on places like these. And is there any markets near this place? I'm really interested to live there.
I live only a few KM away, and yes, there are many markets close by. Cirencester Town market is only a 5 minuet drive and very good and local produce.
Thank you very much,i wanted to know about this row. I've subscribed your channel.
Pleased you like. I'm hoping to add quite a few more to the channel this year.
looks great. why don't they plant fruits and vegetables there instead of simple grass?
Good question. The big area in front is a water meadow and wildlife reserve. Waterbirds like mallards and coots visit there. The cottages have nice gardens at the back, where the tenants can grow fruit, veg, and flowers.
I want to live there
I'm lucky enough to live not so far away, and have to say the Cotswolds are good to live in.
Very nice places
Yes, one of many in the Cotswold area. I like Stow on the Wold, especially for its looks and galleries.
Soo gorgeous
It's a real slice of Old England, and well cared for too. A popular spot but not too crowded!
Two minutes or so seemed about right for Arlington Row. I'll vid another part of Bibury next time I'm there. Thanks for viewing.
Just make sure to not drive a bright colored car there or even worse: park one there!
Local you must be. ;)
Well said
@Rosida Andriyana The spelling depends on which continent you live on.
Pleased you like - me too.
I'm presently working on a new website called 'The English Eye' which you might like to visit, though YT tells me the link has to go in the description
i want to settle there forever..
I've met a hale and hearty 94 yo lady who lives in the village, so it certainly agrees with her, too!
naseer ahmed
Enough Ahmeds already, stay back
What is the title of the piano song you use ?
I really want to live in Bilbury but have no money. Could someone please give me some money so that I can buy a house there? Thank you.
EDIT: I promise to learn how to spell the name when I move there.
Maybe time to start your own Kickstarter campaign? Re spelling, bilberry jam highly recommended.
Nice... But I think cockington better... But this is lovely
A bit short!!
Bibury is nice but I would say there are more prettier villages in the Cotswolds
That's was Morris's opinion, but there are so many places that I'd find it hard to nail one as 'the' prettiest!
There are plenty of nicer Cotswold villages than Bibury , but thankfully they are not overrun with tourists: and thankfully not broadcast on TH-cam👺
Pick your time right and avoid most other tourists. The place is perfect for TH-cam of course!
Damn I wish my fam left fucking India for England instead of goddamn Texas...
The houses are far from beautiful. I wouldn't live there. Not for one day.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say. But certainly a tad small by modern standards!
After the initial first impressions it’s the most boring place in the country
No it’s not
Well, William Morris thought so. Personally, for day to day living, I like somewhere with a few more facilities, including a regular bus service and nearer to trains :-)
