Apparently the game publisher contacted Mars about making a game involving some of their products, (They also made an M&M game), but closer to Darkened Skye's release the publisher decided they no longer wanted it to be a Skittles game, which is why it wasn't advertised like one. The game already had too much Skittle DNA hardcoded into the deep lore and gameplay so the publisher actually had to pay Mars to use Skittles in their game. And the live-action video in the intro is actually from recycled Skittles commercials which inspired the theme of this game in the first place. (TH-cam 'Skittles stonehenge') Dale DeSharone also produced Zelda Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon, MAH BOI.

I checked out it's box and the intro and was like "wow look at this magical fantasy rainbow aesthetic like a Skittles commercial, lol Taste The Rainbow" and then "haha oh look even the magical colored stones have an S like a Skittle... wait they're even called the Skittles... THIS IS REALLY A SKITTLES GAME???" and then I played it to like the second environment to see what it had to offer and promptly checked out.
