      Bernadette are you really so cold? This org is cold and callous.Breast cancer isn't the only cancer we women face.Nor men.I am so sick of Race for the cure.FIGHT all forms of cancer. not just one.What makes breast cancer so special? Before you scream do I know what it's like to have cancer.You bet I do.I had colon rectal cancer at 30.. It spread to my uterus and lymph nodes.I went through 8 hrs of surgery.Hysterectomy I have a colostomy and a scar 3 inches above my naval to 4 inches above my spine.Why don't you talk about that type of cancer?

    That was me in 2017. Other cancers run in my family, thyroid, ovarian, lung, throat, but not breast cancer until I was diagnosed. I was left with the thought of I have 1 more year to live. I walked around in shock for a month. 2 surgeries to get it all, because it digs deep, and moves FAST! 5 years later , I will be a Cancer Survivor in October, when I had my 2nd surgery!

    I was diagnosed with aggressive invasive ducteral carcinoma breast cancer in 2019, went through chemo, surgery and radiation, I'm here today to tell my story to other's that treatments have come along ways in fighting breast cancer, it's not a death setence to all, those that have died from it was because it gets inti your lymph nodes, there like little seeds, some are undiagnosed by it... R.I.P to all that have lost their battle with breast cancer 🎀

    I got a call this morning reminding me I am a month past due for my mammogram. Thank you Lamont for this video! Breast cancer runs in my family and has taken the lives of my cousins as early as 27 yrs old. I have been followed by Johns Hopkins Breast Cancer center since I had my first biopsy in my early thirties. This message is so very important and thank you for mentioning men! There has been at least one family member who was male and he was diagnosed with it. Genetic testing is available fr those with strong family history and I highly suggest getting it done. It has saved the lives of many who makes choices to prevent it when the gene markers are there.

    I witnessed what a young woman goes thus with breast cancer. My daughter in law just finished a 3 year battle and still has to see her doctors every 6 months. All she went thur to stay alive and be here with my son and their very young child. She will be forever be changed. Because after all they go thur to rid themselves of the cancer. There's so much more damage changing their diets, unable to eat things that use to love, now makes them deathly sick. It's a never ending life changing disease.

    Susan was a wonderful woman who inspired so much. I used to be in nonprofit fundraising and worked for a cancer center. Please be careful when donating to the foundation named after her. There has been a lot of drama regarding how much money goes to programming as opposed to those in charge. When October comes around, instead of buying pink stuff, donate directly to charities that help those living with breast cancer and their families. 💗

      I think mammograms should be done sooner for everyone. I don’t have family history at all of breast cancer but I was diagnosed this year. I’m 34 and mammograms were never recommended to me at my checkups. I felt the lump and was still being told too young for it. Finally got them to do it and yep stage 2b triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma

  • @mgf7_
    @mgf7_ ปีที่แล้ว +5

    My mom passed away in March of 2018 from a 7 year battle with breast cancer. She had it three different times throughout my childhood/young adulthood. When I was 13, 16, and 19 but ultimately lost her battle when I was 20. As a young child and I was constantly worrying and stressing about the potential of my mother sitting me down one day and telling me that there was nothing else they could do for her anymore, something a child should never have to worry about. She tried to protect me from the fact that she was dying and I guess I was naive or just believed my mom was strong enough to beat it, since she had done so two times previously. After her passing I went into a downward spiral, formed a severe alcohol dependency, and often felt suicidal. I’m 25 now and still struggle daily with severe depression and anxiety. Some days I feel I can’t go on without her. I know they say time heals, but for me each day that goes by without her just gets more painful. Everyone around me has seemingly moved on and I’m just here. I can’t even talk about her out loud without crying, even four years later. I regret every time I talked back to her, disobeyed her, was embarrassed of her, or didn’t want to snuggle up with her in bed when she asked me to because I was a teenager and felt “too cool” or “too old” to do so. I wish I could go back and hug her one last time. I genuinely would never wish this on my worst enemy. Rip do all those affected and to those fighting this battle, stay strong. 💕

    I had breast cancer in 2021. They cured me with the removal of my breast and a couple of lymph nodes. My mom and sister had breast cancer too. They died at age 56 each of other kinds of cancer. My mom’s breast cancer went into her bones and killed her. My sister devoted colo-rectal cancer and it killed her. I agree with you Lamont. Very disfiguring surgery! The tests they do were worse than the surgery! I decided to skip the reconstruction part of the surgery, since I’m old.

    Thank you Lamont for sharing Ms. Komen's final resting spot. My condolence to everyone who has lost a love one to breast or any other cancer. I was 17 when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer. Came out of remission at age 25, and again at 41. Went back into remission after surgery/treatment, at age 43. Mammograms are hugely important and lifesaving, but Ladies and Gentlemen, please do not forget to do a monthly self breast exam. If you find something, get it checked out please!! If you have a Family history of cancer, please get tested. Because of my history, I have a mammogram and a MRI every year, so every 6 months I undergo screening. In August 2021, I underwent a MRI that showed a 3cm lump. I underwent a MRI biopsy and it was benign praise God. Self breast exams and early screening detention can be a big game changer in breast cancer.

    To my fellow ladies in here get your mammograms! They know want women to start getting them at age 40. I had always heard age 50 but when I turned 40 they informed me that I needed a mammogram.
    I had a suspicious spot on the first scan and they did a second scan to find it is just really dense tissue in that specific spot. I now get them every year or every other year to be able to watch for changes!
    They use the one at 40 years old as a baseline for all future ones. It gives them a clear image before breast cancer typically begins.

    I swear I was writing a comment saying now when I hear breast cancer I think about The video u did on Jennifer Felisi and it's so upsetting. I think about how she showed what cancer is as she showed her breast and it running down her burning her, those POS people who made videos they claimed she was lying when she wasn't so funds stopped coming in for her treatment.. her whole story was sad, but she really gave a upfront view of how scary and deadly cancer is. Glad u made a video exposing those people. They honestly deserved to get their channels taking down for spreading false information stopping her from trying to extend her life while they are making alot of money off TH-cam right now. It's B.S and not fair!

    Thanks so much Lamont for doing a story on Susan G. Koman as it is wonderful of you to remember her and to educate and make people more aware of the devastation breast cancer causes to so many women and their families. I did find it interesting that you said Susan wanted her sister to start a charity to bring more attention to breast cancer so that women would get checked for this disease earlier in life. Unfortunately, doctors don’t recommend mammograms until the age of 40 and insurance often doesn’t pay for mammograms until that age. Sadly, more and more women are being found to have breast cancer at a much younger age such as their 20’s & 30’s and are still dying at an alarming rate when it’s something that could be preventable if mammograms were done earlier.😢
    R.I.P. Susan 🙏🏻❤️
