Can we just take a moment to realize that Mario Kart 8 is probably the few moments where we can see Link acting extremely cheerful? Going as far as laughing and chuckling as he does tricks or hits the other racers with an item. XD

One of my personal favorite Link being happy moments is in Wind Waker after you beat a boss. Don't know why but I just love Link's victory jump whenever he beats a boss! XD
Only times we see him really happy are in windwaker twilight princess and skyward sword

Notice how the title of this video says "refrences AND cameos", cameos meaning they appear somewhere that isnt their place of origin.

Even if it was DLC, it would still be a cameo. He appeared in the Deluxe version of the game, which is an entirely new game.
The super mario 3D world was definately the best reference. I would call the mario kart 8 one more of a mini crossover.

In super Mario 3D land, 5-2 backwards is 2-5, which is like 25, and it was the 25th anniversary of the legend of Zelda.
Same goes for 3D world, world castle can clasify as world 7, which makes it the 27th anniversary

A few things I noticed
-links design from the donkey kong game is CDI link
-the light in the room with the koriki symbol looks like a star fragment
-the girl who owns the vase is a lot like the flower lady in botw
-another answer on the question with "a legendary sword" crystal stars refer to star fragments
-the demon on question 4 is Gannon

8:36 Did you know that there's a Mega Mushroom in a hidden block on the left foot? Also, when you ground-pound while the Mega Mushroom is active, it lights up a bunch of blocks
6:30 the breaking vase could also be a reference to TLOZ The Windwaker, where you have to pay for destroying vases in a certain house (if I'm remembering corectly).

Yes, but I believe it is also a reference to the original game, where there is a cave you can bomb open, and the character inside makes you pay to repair his door.

You missed out Wario's Adventure from the first WarioWare. When Wario gets the treasure from the chest during that microgame, he holds it up like Link does in the N64 games and a "Wario-fied" version of the Zelda item tune plays.

6:35 The whole scene is based on that one scene from TLOZ: The Wind Waker where Link smashes one or more vases and the owner of the house and the vases a certain number rupees depending how many vases Link smashed.
Link is in Mario’s universe! He even slept in the same hotel with Mario!

I want to say its a reference to the shells in Link's Awakening but I don't know if that game was out yet
It was. Link's Awakening came out in 1993 while DKC3 was 3 years later. Indeed, Link was searching for the seashells found in Link's Awakening but the one the bear had wasn't quite what Link was looking for.

Its a reference to link awakening or it could be noticibg towards hownin the original zelda link had to find fragments of the triforce
DK 3:Dixie Kong's quest introduced Link coming in a shop and wanted to know about the castle at 1:12.
In Bowsers Kingdom you can blow out flames in the first area and when you do it plays victory music just like filling in a torch in the Legend Of Zelda
Note: In Hyrule circuit, if you hit the item box you can hear the music from Wind Waker.

I just the rupees in the Hyrule stage in MK8 and MK8D use a similar sound, model (albeit being bigger in size), and textures as the green Rupees in BotW. Great game btw, must play.
Not sure if this counts as a reference, but Dimentio reviving the robot at 5:38 reminds me of Zant reviving Stallord, the 4th boss of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Note: I haven't played the Paper Mario game this scene is from.
It's a really good game, called "Super Paper Mario", I played that game for hours on end and beat it more than once.

A reference i found in paper mario the thousand year door is that in the temple when you get the first crystal star location the plataform illuminates like in ocarina of time

I gotta say i really like the 3D land refrence with the dungeon feel.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the background theme of one of the overworld maps in Super Mario Bros. 3 later becomes the iconic theme of both the select menu and Fairy Fountains in Zelda games starting with A Link to the Past.
The 2 scenes from super paper mario are also Easter eggs. To wake a giant Robot was in Skyward Sword and to pay some vase was in The Wind Waker. But still great!👍

The hammer item is functionally identical to the hammer item in adventure of link and only has cosmetic differences.

There's a reference in Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, where if you enter Cranky's Shop and go to the portable DK barrel, well, you probably know what Cranky will say.

Not to mention the Super Mario references in Ocarina of Time in the castle when you look through the windows as Child Link in the castle Courtyard

want to add a secret for everyone to the Hyrule MK 8 track; if you hit all 3 Crystal Switches, a familiar tune plays and you unlock a ramp in the upcoming room; you can fly though the triforce with it.

so, ive started playing "super mario 3d land" for the first time EVER in my life, after 8 years it came out. 2019 to be exact. ive beat the whole game in october, and DID NOT notice the level in world 5 representing a zelda dungeon because NOT ONLY with the torch secret, but also has a top view. how did i not notice that? 🙄 oh yeah, i didnt do the torch puzzle. stupid ol me!
