5:08 Actually, the Famicom Disk System is an add-on for the Famicom, not its own console.
The Family Computer (or Famicom for short) released in 1983 in Japan and used cartridges. The Disk System was released 3 years later in 1986, which lets you play disk games on the Famicom which were much cheaper compared to cartridge software. The reason it never saw a release overseas is because the advantages of the Disk System quickly evaporated as cartridges soon started integrating advanced mapper chips which disks could not take advantage and the Disk System in its last few years of relevancy was relegated to classic game rereleases on disk.
