I'm using this controler using a normal toaster NES on a 27" Trinitron CRT and I can assure you guys that there's not any perceptible lag at all. I have played Punch Out, Ninja Gaiden, Mario 3, Castlevania, etc and haven't had a single issue with thus awesome controller. Props to 8 bitDo
The 2.4ghz version has 3.6ms(tested and confirmed) of latency. Pretty impressive! I've heard Retro-Bit's 2.4ghz controllers nearly triple that amount including the Origin 8.
I got NES Classic version of this and while I like it a lot, I’m partial to the Hyperkin Cadet pad which also comes in a wireless variant. Slightly more ergonomic and with a better feeling d-pad
yeahbuddy I’m really looking for a 2.4ghz wireless controller that connects via USB and is the closest representation of the original controller. 8bitdo has the closest representation part down, and although they have done thIs for the Genesis controller, they haven’t done the same with the NES or SNES yet. Hopefully they will some day.
I just picked this up. I hate the turbo buttons. My thumb keeps hitting the edge of them by accident. I wish it just had the two normal buttons and a switch to toggle the turbo on. That is my only complaint.
I got 2 of the classic versions of these I use with my Mister/blisster/blissbox setup 100% all about the original controller feels on all my controllers
Bro! Yes! I have 10 controllers from 8bitdo spread out between all the classic consoles and OG hardware! Love these and I got one coming with my nt mini noir and I got 3 in my amazon wish list for xmas for those killer bomberman games with the family later on! I know, they’re 3 max. Can’t wait for mine and lets see a stream soon with them! May I suggest RC Pro AM or another precise NES game?!?! Lol. Keep rocking it out bro! Loving riding the wave!
These look nice, but I wish 8bitdo would include a USB wireless dongle like Retrobit did with their new Sega Genesis and Saturn controllers. That way, I could use these wirelessly with my MiSTer.
The only thing that I don't like is that it looks like it would be easy to accidentally hit the turbo buttons while playing certain games. This would be annoying in games like TMNT 2 The Arcade game when you need to precisely hit the A&B buttons at the same time to do the jump slash attack.
I got the controller, and have bigger than average hands. It isn't really a problem. You shouldn't be hitting the turbo buttons accidentally through normal play.
@@TheBloodyNights That is good to know. The turbo buttons look far enough apart. I was just curious as to what others might say. So I appreciate your input! I will want these even more now.
Thank you for this video full of wonderful details. You should try the new 8Bitdo micro and open it for us. This would be awesome. It is rare for TH-camrs to open the product and show the details of the electronic circuit and battery.
The controllers with that style cramp my hands if I play for more than a few minutes. Maybe it's my old age (32) but I have really come to appreciate controllers with some form of grip.
Saying that you have to have the less ergonomic flat buttons reminds me of how the game controller isn't the best controller at all yet I still like to use it for certain games
You really can't go wrong with this controller, or the SNES counterpart. 2.4GHz controller, no noticeable lag and strong compatibility with NES or retroUSB AVS.
Thanks. Ordered off your link. My old NES controller has been sitting on the desk for weeks, waiting to get cleaned up but I can't find any iso. alcohol.
Any leads on a classic arcade stick for Switch? No current controller options are really working well for some recent (ex. Burgertime, Kangaroo) Arcade Archives releases. Even tried my 8bitdo arcade stick with little success. Need a classic arcade stick that allows me to switch between 4-way and 8-way control.
Have a pair of these controllers and love them as well! Question I have is where can I get that monitor? Picture looks amazing? Built in battery? Thanks man!
Jst ordered this, but the nes classic version....is only diff the dongle?? I got the hyperkin Bluetooth versions for my nes and snes thru lrg and they work great on my og nes and snes and as well as my retron hd and supa retron HD...
Does the Bluetooth version really work on other systems besides the Switch (like PC and Raspberry Pi)? I wanted to get a couple for the Pi but 8bitdo lists it as strictly for the Switch only. I know it's just Bluetooth but I didn't want to take a chance getting stuck with something I couldn't use how I wanted to. I'd love to know if anyone has tested this.
I was looking into these, I was eye balling them pretty hard since it is 2.4ghz wireless. I love that it has turbo buttons but maybe its just me being weird, I kinda wish they had a original version without them as a purest factor. Either way you helped convince me to get a pair as I still use my NES Satellite but I am getting tired of sourcing for C size batteries! P.S. Just for shits & giggles the batteries definitely look like they can be upgraded to the bluetooth ones and the back plate looks identical for extra juice even though it probably won't be necessary but I might do it for fun!
@@rubenmejia4881 to be honest, I don't even know anymore XD My GF just plays a few dozen hours of JRPGs, I then use the same controller to play some mega man over the weekend and every couple of weeks it blinks red asking to be charged.
@@rubenmejia4881 Nice! I only own the MMX series on SNES, the NES ones I'll get soon. Regarding the baby monitor battery, if you do that mod, you'll notice that the battery has 3 cables instead of 2. Use a multimeter to check which one has no voltage, that one is connected to a "thermistor" inside the battery, it's safe to cut. It's there in case someone decides to leave the monitor charging next to the baby under a blanket, to prevent it from getting too hot and break the circuit to prevent fires.
Best part of a 2.4g is the price. And they work beautifully. I have the 2.4g m30. I wish they would make a sn30pro+ in 2.4g and sell 2.4g dongles separate
To me the D-pad is pretty good. I did have issues with the SNES controllers they released to go with the Super NT. I had to do all sorts of crap to try and fix it. I don't think every one of the blutooth controllers they released around that time had the issue. But a good chunk of them did. The new ones, for the 2.4g have a new board. The D-pad is great on it, I swapped out the membranes with an official SNES controller for an even more authentic feel. Over all both controllers are great and I'd highly recommend, if the idea of a basically lagless wireless controller is appealing to you at all for your classic systems.

I heavily recommend this controller as well.
With this controller I beat SMB and the 2nd quest for the 1st time ever!!
i appreciated the home button was set as down+select, my AVS was already set that way. definitely my prefered NES pad now
Does this means this work with the retrousb avs too?
@@muhammadikramalwi1758 yeah totally
We need a Dog-Bone Version.
No "we" don't. Only if they invert the angle but they won't do that because they want four buttons on it
They could just make a Super Nintendo controller with the color scheme of the dawgbone
I need the MiSTer version of this and the SNES controller. Then my life will be complete.
You can use these wired with the MiSTer. As well as the SNES version

Brotha @Madlittlepixel I LOVE YOUR TOP LOADER WITH THE HDMI MOD. It's so classy looking with that beltline LED indicator. Nicely done man!
I just bought their saga controller to use with my iPad.

Great review , looking forward for a pair of this for my NES Toaster
Thanks for the heads up about this one! I will have to wait until it's available on Amazon Australia, doesn't seem to be just yet.

I love my 8bitdo for the genesis. Thinking its time to get ones for the snes and nes. :-)

Can you just buy the receiver, I already have the 2.4 controller for my NES classic
would the 2.4g suffer from microwave issues as a 2.4 wifi could?
But does it work on a pc engine with the brook adaptor?
Are they still selling this? I can't find this controller anywhere now. :(
Does this version register when Start + Select are pressed together?
As the Bluetooth version didn't
I wish I loved 8bitdo. But I just can't stand the dpads and the plastic. I've bought 3 in the past
