I cannot get for the life of me how it seems like everyone else has a great time with BT controllers and all I get is latency latency latency. It is frustrating as heck. Oh and I do still love my NES30. I keep it updated. Wired it rocks, but I have the same trouble as anything else BT. Latency. Even crying about my BT troubles I'll still take a moment to give props to 8bitdo for making great stuff. They really do rock. I want one of each!
My diy kits work with the NES games app on Switch. 8bitdo support also told me they are working on a firmware update to allow the zl+zr button combination to access the app menu.
I prefer how they looked back when they looked more like legit SNES controllers with the label and everything.. and the colored buttons. Did they get into trouble with Nintendo or something? Copyright infringement or anything?
I give it a couple of years.. and the next thing you know, they won't look like snes controllers at all. Next thing you know, they change the shape of something... I have a sneaking suspicion that, what happen is Nintendo renewed the copyright or patent or what ever on all their old controllers, and it's forced them to change later version. Keep in mind, the Switch now has internal icons for all the classic controllers that were shown off from a datamining not long ago.. i mean.. if you keep up with such things. I think Nintendo is about to release their own SNES and maybe even N64 controllers.
The Goof It's already the case, they have a pro model with handles now which I'm sure will become the norm for them. It's rather ugly, by the way. I won't complain though, since I already own a sexy SF30 Pro.
That's a lot of 8bitdo controllers! I have the original SN30 and it's fantastic, but I will say it feels like the d-pad is starting to get a bit vague. Still, there's no better controller for retro gaming in my opinion. Been wanting to pick up one of the new SN30 Pro's for my retropie.
I love those controllers (I own the SF30 Pro, even bought a nice carrying bag for it), but I don't quite like those new colors, just my opinion but it doesn't look that great being just 1 color
I just got one of these and the dpad still needs work. My first 8bitdo controller was an nes pro 30 and it had issues with the up-right diagonal. That has been fixed with this controller, but now almost every time that I hold up on the controller, whether in Final Fantasy 6, Super Castlevania 4 or Goemon, and so on, the characters will suddenly move to the left. So damn annoying.
I just got my SF30 Pro controller. Slick stuff. I would love for them to replace the glossy front buttons with matte ones. The matte plastic of the d-pad is fantastic, they should use that. I would also suggest to use thumbsticks covers if you use these controllers for modern gaming, where the majority of the time you'll be using the sticks, as the rubber feels prone to get damaged.
there is next to no lag on the wireless controllers, I recieved my SF30 Pro the other day, Have been testing it with DK Tropical Freeze and Shining Resonance: Refrain, i now prefer it over the Nintendo Official controller for these games now. The rumble feature in the SF30 Pro feels a bit weak, but I probably can adjust that in my Nintendo Switch settings.
Hey ETA PRIME - no one on TH-cam seems to be covering the Banana Pi Zero even though it's a 1.2GHz quad core Raspberry Pi Zero W clone that should manage smooth GBA/SNES/32x emulation. It's supported by the RetrOrangePi distribution, is getting it going shouldn't be challenging. It's supposedly a pin for pin drop in replacement too, so it might open possibilities... Maybe a very special Gameboy Null project for the channel?
Sadly the SF30 Pro (old AND new versions) have one big problem: when you press Y, B, A and RIGHT on the D-Pad at the same time X also activates without being pressed, there was a Thread about it on r/8bitdo ( www.reddit.com/r/8bitdo/comments/942fdt/phantom_input_problem_effecting_multiple_sf30_pro/ ), we informed support about it and they said they forwarded the problem to the Dev's. There are several other button combinations that bug out as well but this one is apparently used a lot in one of the new Mega Man games which is why the bug was noticed in the first place. I would love if somebody (maybe somebody with a youtube channel *hint hing nudge nudge*) would shine a bigger light on the issue so we can get these awesome pads fixed.
Great video as always, in regrades to the nes games on switch they work fine i have an older SF30 pro and it works just fine and feel a little better than the joycons or official pro controller.
I got a SFC30 a few years back and I like it a lot, but it's a little weird that when paried withy the switch it acts like a joycon. That means that the D-pad is mapped to the analog stick instead of the actual D-pad... I hopw they fix that in the future.

is the SN30 standard edition compatible with older Ipad minis? A friend of mine has 2 different models and when I tried to pair my SN30 with them, it was not even discovered on bluetooth.
Will this work with the various retro receivers? Super NT and the SNES, NES mini? I think 8bitdo older controllers are Micro usb as these are USB type-c...will that even matter? I think the charging cable it comes with will be able to plug right into the receiver if needed.
Damn... I just thought about how to get grey paint in the shape of a circle, on the right hand side of the controllers around the buttons, to make them look more like the original SNES controllers..... And then you mention the customizable decals xD
Just got a SN30 Pro. It works on my iMac but not on iPhone or Apple TV. Sucks. Love the controller. Wish I would use it more. I don’t have any android devices or a Switch. I did use it on my RetroPie. Haven’t set up the Bluetooth connection on it though.
Dämn it! How hard is it to get a D-pad right? For a company that states "8BitDo is a premier 3rd party video game hardware company with a special focus on retro themed game controllers. Renowned for producing the highest quality retro controllers on the market." is total bullshít considering they can't even make a good D-pad. People really need to email and let this company know that there D-Pad needs to be fix.
Did they improve the input lag in the new models? The old ones weren't bad with updated firmware, there's still less input lag using the Switch's joycons vs the old SN30 Pro model with updated firmware. Just wondering how they compare with the older SN30 and SN30 Pro models and with the joycons.
For resons nobody seems to know at all, ALL of these supposedly new gamepads, aren't even released yet. The site announced these for xmas sale 2018 -- but until today, nodda. Nothing. Zip. You can't order these. They're all vaporware.
I'm glad I bought multiples of the original designs, i really like that it looks like a real snes controller, and the pro like a modern take. still great controllers though. maybe if nintendo doesn't like a 3rd party company making better controllers than them they should get in on the game.

I do want a 8bitdo SN30Pro to have a secondary controller for my Nintendo Switch but the Amazon's reviews on these Controller's were bad and scared to buy it.
You say they are the same with just a different color scheme, but I sent them an email asking about changes a couple months ago and got the response "The new products is definitely a comprehensive optimization and improvement." So I am hoping things like sensitivity is better, but you don't notice a difference? Also please let us know if/when you get new SF30s, cause I want to know if the grey is the same. Getting them to match my Super NT.
How was your experience with the n64 controller? Mine has a faulty joystick nothing will read its inputs, ive heard of other people claiming the same problem

Does that 8bitdo arcade stick work with the Pi or PC/Android? I've been searching around for a good beginner arcade stick recently.. and then I found some that look similar but are instead universal, the Mayflash F300/elite and F500. I'm thinking about getting the F500 or maybe F300 elite to use with my consoles as well as my Pi. If you ever have the chance, plz review one of these, I'm sure you'd be able to make good use of it!
Is the latency any better on Switch? It ruined my experience with my SN30 Pro. Playing games like Hollow knight, where precision is paramount is basically impossible. I was forced to use the Switch Pro Controller, and that DPad is not good.
I passed on the SF30 because I am still using Windows 7 and don't know if I have good Bluetooth capabilities. Do you know if it works with Windows 7? Does it worked wired with the charging cable? Is that USB 2.0 or 3.0? Great channel and content! :)
I'm sure it would still work with Windows 7. I've tested it with 8, 8.1 and 10 and it works in all of them. It works wired too and it's usb 2.0. I see no reason why it should be 3.0

Why are they doing this to me!! I've been waiting for the Sega Saturn ( the best retro controller ever ) Bluetooth controller that they showed at the beginning of the year. No Sega Saturn yet but they got SNES controllers with new colors. I have 3 of these already, just waiting for the saturn controller. I love these controllers they really are built well. I won't buy any other brand.
Why would you ever buy one that doesn't include the analog sticks? Even if you don't need them for the current games you're playing, you're probably going to run into an instance where you do need them in the future.
Rocky1138 I bought mine specifically for use with an original SNES and wanted it to look as faithful to the original design as possible so opted for the standard SN30 as opposed to the pro - I'll never need analogue sticks for my SNES!

Just got the red and green controllers and 2 8BitDo receivers for my AVS retro usb and can’t get them to link up.
i also have 2 8BitDo contorler, they are awesome!
But my fav ist my T1S from GameSir ... works with my Rpi / PC / Mac and Phone flawlessly

I'm sure it would still work with Windows 7. I've tested it with 8, 8.1 and 10 and it works in all of them. It works wired too and it's usb 2.0. I see no reason why it should be 3.0
Make sure your computer itself has Bluetooth. If you don’t it’s hardware not software
I have a problem with retropie and sn30 pro, Retropie doesn't detect R2 and L2. Someone else have the same problem?

It’s the diy 8bitdo kits, you have to take apart an original 6 button Sega Controller and put the 8bitdo kit inside.

Why are they doing this to me!! I've been waiting for the Sega Saturn ( the best retro controller ever ) Bluetooth controller that they showed at the beginning of the year. No Sega Saturn yet but they got SNES controllers with new colors.
I have 3 of these already, just waiting for the saturn controller. I love these controllers they really are built well. I won't buy any other brand.
Why would you ever buy one that doesn't include the analog sticks? Even if you don't need them for the current games you're playing, you're probably going to run into an instance where you do need them in the future.
Rocky1138 I bought mine specifically for use with an original SNES and wanted it to look as faithful to the original design as possible so opted for the standard SN30 as opposed to the pro - I'll never need analogue sticks for my SNES!
