I went with the Marshall 1960B 4x12. It has 2 20w Greenbacks in the top, and V30 in the Bottom. I mic’d a Greenback with a 57, and a v30 and blended them 60/40 leaning on the Greenback. Into API preamps. I have TwoNotes IR and Overloud Supercab IR of this cab. They both sound killer too. When I was working on writing the tune, I did it at home with Loadbox and IR. It sounded awesome too.
@@BigHairyGuitars that is a great sounding amp! Seems more killer Plexi than JCM800 on steroids. It’s super smooth but hits like a hammer. Is that a fair comparison in the room?
Wow! Killer tone and nice playing, great tune! Would you give a brief thought on splitting speaker cabs with two sets of different speakers. I've been contemplating doing this for a couple of years. Is it really a big difference? Thank you! 💚🎸
@@californiasurfpunkmetal6207 I think a LOT of people are after that really percussive plexi tone these days, that's killer for articulate rhythm playing. Hopefully, Friedman see's that. That tone seems to have gotten lost in the "gain wars". The punchy, percussive, razor-sharp, crisp mid-heavy tone Michael dialed up towards the beginning of the video was spot on for rhythm "riff-playing". I'd love to see Friedman devote an amp to his core line capable of getting that tone. To my knowledge this is the only amp I've heard of his that can get that...short of maybe the Jake E. Lee signature. Great demo.
Ripping, as always! Great tones Michael, and what a killer track to start off the whole video. I love your channel. Always fun to watch and...well, a great source of inspiration for my own playing.
Michael this Sounds Fantastic!!!!! More gain goin’ on here than what Stevie Steve typically uses, and yet it holds together fantastic!!! All that clarity and chewy Marshall bite and super tight low end!!!! ……………..I WANT WANT WANT one
Thanks! I was trying to find a middle ground between the classic cranked non-master volume tones of the classic years, and his modern stuff that has TONS of gain.
Just when I thought amp modeling has taken great strides, a real amp and an amazing player bring the baseline back up. The dynamics, the pleasant top end. Great video!
Gotta say that is a lot of clarity for such high gain levels. Too hot for my needs but still another high quality amp from Friedman and Stevens. Always a well produced and fun walkthrough. Thanks
How many crazy guitar faces can i make just watching a video.......? all of them... Great playing Michael! congrats Dave and Steve, another great colabiration.
Yeah when SS plays it in his vid with Dave its got the girth and guts I just love with all the high, mid and clean trimmings. Beautiful sonorous lead tones. Man I think this is the one. Durability is my only question for the $
That riff on the intro track was HUGE!! Sounded killer, Michael! Love your frowny rock faces too - a total sign that you are ALL the way into your music!!! Love your videos!
From what? What did you hear? Modern amplification has 30 amplifiers in the 1 amplifier now. This is a pathetic amplifier. TV amplifiers are see through now. This stupid amplifier isn't even see through.
It’s the first Friedman I’ve heard that captures for me that slightly unruly plexi thing that’s around the notes. I know the first one they modeled after his ‘68 and this one definitely seems to have that DNA in it. I like amps that can get rough, other Friedman’s I’ve played are just too refined. I’ll take wild and rich over big, fat and smooth any day. I can make a rough amp smooth but not the other way around.
I first thought the same thing after the first gig with my later model BE-100 but that is not the case after I learned how to dial it a bit more. I would say the SS is very refined …modded plexy but with manicured black nails.
Michael, how was this recorded? Using mics or IR’s?? That thing is a monster..

Never were, never will be.
That amp sounds like a plexi with all the gain of a 5150. What a monster.
Great playing as always Michael.

@@dreyn7780 This seems to be an answer to a question that I'm unaware of.
Yes 3 channels! I'm in love with this amp! Sounds like perfection.
Welcome back, I really missed you! And what a marvelous intro song. Gee.
Thanks Sven!
The voice leading / progressions and the melodies in the intro song 🔥
Sweet jesus that amp sounds killer! And that track was perfect... blown away. thank you!

We've been waiting soooo long for a new video...thx
Sorry. Thanks Alex!
Listening again :50-1:15 is just magical Michael!!
Haha I literally listened to that section like 5 times before seeing your comment! Awesome 😊
In the top 5 of the greatest amps I've ever heard. It would be impossible to choose between this one and the Friedman JEL-100
Dude what an intro!
Thank you brother!
Great song, great playing, great amp. ✅
Holy crap that (and you) sound insanely badass!
Thank my man!

@@BigHairyGuitars Absolutely Michael! Keep em coming!
11:10 is nuts...in a good way! Keep rockin!
I played a SS at Namm 2017. It's a great alternative to the BE.
Yessss!!! Today is suddenly a great day 😎😎😎😎
Great sounding amp! Great playing as well Michael!
Seems like it has relatively less compression and smoothness than a typical Friedman, and I am digging that. Awesome intro and great demo!

This is the smoothest, best sounding amp you have demoed so far, and that opening song was effing incredible.
Never saw that EVH Wolfgang of yours before.... sounds pretty awesome... besides the point
That is one wicked amp! Wish I could afford one.
Saw Billy Idol last year, at Brixton Academy, He was very good, Steve was excellent, and his tone was very, very good.
Every intro track for every Friedman video makes me want that amplifier.
😂😂
Brilliant amp, thanks for the demo Michael, sweet playing too!
Great demo and great playing! The dirt sounds are great, but wow - that clean sound is glorious.
Fantastic playing
Great demo and outstanding playing!
Wow! Killer song and playing!
Fantastic intro track. 0:54 piece is to do die for. Amp ain't half bad either. Good job.
Always a fantastic demo!!
Thanks!!!

Modern amplification is see through now.
Great Playing! I love your videos!
Thank you James
That is the best sounding amp I have ever heard. 😃
Classy playing and such a great review!
Great playing and riff. Oh, the amp sounds evil as all hell too!
Thanks Bazman!
Great rock production. It sounds "ready".
Dude... ray gun effect for the win!!! Steve would be proud of you, Mike.

Yeah killer demo (as always). Got my SS100 on order - cannot wait after hearing this
Congrats! I’m sure you’re gonna love it Flash!
The OG version or the new Version 2? I'm trying to find a link to order the new v2 but can't find anything anywhere.
Congrats either way!

I hope Dave makes a mini version of this head.
I don't.

I definitely hear that Plexi think you’re talking about. To my ear it has the percussiveness of a loud 100w Plexi at a MUCH lower volume

Amp sounds fantastic! Great riff to showcase it. And that Wolfgang! We need a video just on that sucker! Friedman has done it again 👍
Will do! Thanks!
EVH guitars contain brand exclusive electrical signals.
If you could sell an amp in one chord, 5:26 would be it. Holy mother of tone.
Dude. GREAT JOB !!!
was aiming for the SLO 100, but now i want the SS-100
That has a very warm and juicy tone. Those tubes must have been burning extra hot . Sounded thick . I want one.
