I used regular for a few years, then switched to 24max about 3 jars ago. I like it just as much. Considering that my skin has become dryer lately, I like how hydrating it is. Skin feels nice and smooth. And I use it all over my face including around the eyes without any irritation. Vit C is something I cannot tolerate even at 10%.
I have been using the max for several months now and I love it. I don't find it leaves any film on my skin. I am almost 62 and the fine lines around my mouth are gone. Love this product.
I have been using the Max for 3 weeks. For me, it completely absorbs within about 1-2 minutes. I did peel a bit the first week, but I probably overdid it. OK, I soooo overdid it. Live and learn. It's all good now. I find it very moisturizing. While I don't see any changes yet my skin feels softer and has more glide to it.
I'd like to see you take us through a skincare routine from start to finish from cleansing to moisturizing. Your videos are so informative. Please direct your skin care for all skin types and ages. I'm 73 and finding it hard to purchase products that aren't so expensive. Of course, I rather spend less money if the less expensive products would do the same job. Just a suggestion. I hope you will consider it. I'm a new subscriber and I've been very impressed by the information you tell us based on using the products yourself. Please includes products we should use daily as opposed to those we should only be using 2 to 3 times a week. Thank you so much for your expertise.

I've been using Neutrogena retinol cream since my early 20's but have started experimenting with different OTC retinol cream and higher end retinol products now that I'm in my 30's. A while ago saw another dermatologist youtuber recommending Paula Choice 2% retinol saying it's safe to use and very unlikely to cause irritation, so I bought one to try and within 2 days my skin started to peel and stayed inflamed for over a week. So I switched back to the Olay retinol 24 max and within 2 days my skin is back to normal, no more irritation/redness/flakiness. I personally don't find the 24 max to be all that thick, it's nice to put on before bed and by time I wake up my skin has absorbed all the product. Thanks for doing the comparison for us, I was tempted to get the original retinol 24 seeing the 2 pack deal on Costco, I may still get them to use for my hands and neck, saving 24 max on the face.
I just bought the Costco deal yesterday. I had previously bought the Olay Retinol 24 (not the Max) about a month ago. The product I got yesterday was the Olay Retinol + Peptides. I'm not sure what the difference is between the 2, but for the price ($6.00 off per jar!), I might grab another before the sale ends.
I am proud to be one of your 100K members! I love your sense about using retinol, and I appreciate you finding the over-the-counter varieties, and comparing them! Thank you for all you do to keep us in balance as we age! Since you have come into my life, I am also in love with my skin, maybe for the first time in my life!
Found you a few weeks ago. Congrats on the sub count. This video answers a lot of confusing questions about what if I have a subscription to Retin-A can or should I use an OTC Retinol and such. Very informative! Thanks for covering that. And if you haven’t watched this video yet you should. Just play it back at 0.75 speed so you don’t miss anything. 😜
I used the original formula without the retinol for a year, then went up to the regular retinol formula, and have moved on to the max version and the long haul process has been worth it. I have a lot of health problems and the worlds most sensitive skin, and I am so glad I can still use this product. It's helped with my deepest, most persistent crease in my elevens. I'm in my late 30's and my fine lines look much better than they did before I began using skin care seriously. My only complaint with these olay products is that they sometimes pill. I have to carefully apply it and then not touch my face. They also dont play that well with other skincare products, the pilling gets significantly worse even with cleansing and time in between
I agree it does pill (I mix it w mousturizer so it won't pill) but olay 24 max is amazing for oily acne prone skin. I won't use anything else even high end brands over this stuff. Kills the acne and the oil ❤
That's funny I love the max one bc it is thick a little goes a long way. I feel like I have to use less. I don't have an issue with pilling at all. It's possible ppl use too much product. It is hands down my favorite night cream at the moment. It doesn't dry my skin out and I get the benefits of retinol.
I started using Olay retinol max 2 months ago and this is my first time using any retinol. I also bought Paulas Choice 1% to alternate only once a week but the Olay retinol max feels amazing and is wonderful, at least to my mid 50s skin. I think Olay Max feels incredible and I feel there are some mild results already.
@@chelseafu29Ive used both and prefer olay retinol max for oily/acne prone skin, but think the Paula's choice intensive retinol serum (with the vit c in it) is a better bet for drier/mature skin with sun damage.
Thank you, Dr. Sugai. Thanks to you, I have no wrinkles. I’m using Olay lotion in the morning and Bondi Sands sunscreen. At night I useOlay Retinol 24 MAX. Both are fragrance free. Have been using Olay for more than 6 months. Friends come up to me and compliment me on my skin. Really enjoy your videos.
Great info! You discussed not layering different rentinol products. What are your thoughts about using a prescription tretinoin on the face and an OTC retinol like Olay 24 on the neck? And is there any benefit to using retinol on the backs of the hand for anti-aging? Congrats on the 100K, your channel is one of my favorites!
That’s a great idea and method with separating the two retinoids based on location without layering! We def can’t forget treating the neck and backs of hands! And, thank you so much. Appreciate you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I accidently bought the perfumed Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle repair so use that on my neck; chest and back of hands; and use the unscented (and more expensive) Olay 24 on my face.
New Subscriber, so glad I found your Channel. What do you think of using a moisturizer with hydraulic acid after prescription retinal. I live in a very dry area and heard it's not the best cuz if it can't draw moisture from the outside its starts taking from within the skin. I am current using climique 100 moisturizer with my retinal. Can you give your thoughts on that please..
Thanks for this 🙏. I have both but I got the normal one first. I haven’t yet opened the Max. I’ll definitely progress on to that. It’s great to know the difference. I also use the Olay Vitamin C AHA on a morning. If you aren’t too busy could you let me know if that combination is ok. I appreciate this is 4 months old but I hope you see it. Thank you for your time and succinct explanations. Helen UK.
I got a trial size of the original with peptides and yes, it absorbs well into the skin and does not leave a film which I love. It makes my skin feel satiny smooth. I may just stick with it because I can't stand to have a tacky feeling to my skin after I apply a product; it sounds like the max leaves that tacky feeling. Thank you for your video and clarifying the difference between the two products. 😊
Thanks for your video doctor. Please can you advise how often we should use Glycolic acid when we are using Olay Regeneris Retinol 24, nightly. Many thanks.
I am using the max, but I don't see major changes. But like you said, it may take 6 months. Hopefully I will see results but I would like to see quicker results. I feel sometimes that I need more than Olay for my skin.
The Ordinary 2.5%Granactive Retinoid actually feels and looks more effective than a lot of retinoids on the market. It is somehow not so accessible though.
Dr Sugai, Thank you for all you do to help us. I have been using LRP ADAPALENE for awhile and up to daily but i do give my skin a break on the weekends and use the OLAY Retinol 24 at night . Costco deal with rebate whoo-hoo!!! I am keeping a marathon mentality with skincare and more is not better !!! 😊
I found Olay retinol disappointing because it rubs off into 'crumbs'. A cream should absorb into tbe skin, not form a sort of mask that can be rubbed off.

I used the oil of Olay regenerist retinol 24, it says to use nightly. I did just that, in about five days my skin became itchy and started to flake and was red. I would recommend first time users not to use it nightly until your skin gets use to it. Than again, I think I used a lot more that a pea drop.
the company's instructions are not good and have led to many people overusing it to begin with and getting irritation and thus thinking it is a bad product. You need to start with just a couple of nights a week and build up and let your skin get used to it. And yes always pea size.
I did nightly as well and my face became super itchy and I regretted overdoing it coz now I needa take a break from it before I can get back to it. my face was so incredibly itchy and uncomfortable. will take it slowly next time around

Hi From Everett! Just found you on You Tube. I used up my first jar of Olay Regenerist. Now I have begun using the Olay regenerist Retinol 24 max. As a woman of 59, my issues are sun spots and keeping everything bright and tight. I also have a history in my early 20s of cystic acne and used Acutane for 6 months. As for Olay, I began using the night time regenerist, as I needed a night cream without fragrance. It was a bit thin for me and using the 24 max, gives me a feeling of having a good layer on my face before bed. I haven't looked at all your videos yet, but could you do a video about the things to avoid when you are using a full strength tretinoin, like microdermabrasion, aggressive peels etc.? I am a cosmetologist within a day spa and my esthetician friends are saying there are treatments that they can do to help my age spots, but using retinol A is contraindicated. I had been on a super light does of .005 in a subscription type mix. I am not going to use it due to the idea that it is contraindicated for certain facial procedures. Ibwould just appreciate knowing your take on retinol use vs deep facials for removing age spots. Hope my ramble makes sense. TTFN.
Curious if you know the difference between the one from Costco (Pro Advanced) vs the regular retinol 24 (mine doesn’t say +peptides sadly). I've used the Pro Advanced for a while as l purchase from Costco, and I do like it. But I found what I thought was the same thing but a few bucks cheaper on Amazon, but realized it's the regenerist retinol24. Smells the same, looks similar minus the swirls on the purple jar and the name. I'll give it a shot but I would love to actually know the difference. Reddit had a post from someone who shared a vague response from Olay. But maybe Doc knows and can help shed some light!
I have been using Olay retinol creams alternatively for about 10 months with very good results. However I was wondering if our skin gets used to one product and would it be advisable to switch it up with another Retinol cream , which I am thinking of Strivictin. I saw a two pack at Costco but quite pricy. Please give your valuable advice and also share some knowledge about Strivectin's efficacy.
I bought a the okay retinol peptide SPF30 for day . Should I use it ? I reading a lot people that said is better night time . Tanks doctor I will wait for your answer before using it .
Not that I'm looking forward to it, but I've been using Retinol 24 for over a month now and still has not experienced any peeling like others . I moisturize really well after each use, could it be that?
When you look at the ingredient list, the higher up the ingredient is on the list the more of it is in the jar. With this product retinol is one of the first five ingredients so there is quite a bit of it in there.
@@xornanbu really? That’s not bad, I searched and went above and beyond to know Olay’s retinol percentage. Finally went with 0.3% Neutrogena retinol. At least Neutrogena is upfront about their percentage
I just started retinol max and for one night i can already see improvement, it seems like it’s fading my dark spot due to pimples. Right now I’m using retinol every other night, I don’t have lots of pimples, my concern is the texture of my skin, I came across this video and I thought I’ll give it a try. I also use kojic with tranexamic acid cream in my morning routine.
Just started using the Max a week ago but my face is not smoother after a week. I know it takes a while but I thought maybe my face would at least be smoother after a week. I really do question the positive results of this cream. I’ve started my second week and my face itches and burns all the time. So ready to go back to my trusty old Ponds Cold Cream. It cleans and hydrates beautifully. Doesn’t take away fine lines and wrinkles but I don’t think Olay Regenerist 24 Max does either. It’s simply hyped .
Hello Dr. Sugai, Im new to your channel but love the og olay. My question is, is it equally as bad to layer drugstore retinols like the olay 24 and the cerave resurfacing serum? Should they be alternated instead like you mentioned in the beginning? Thank you! I really enjoy your channel.
Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. You mentioned not using retinol around the eye area. Do you mean prescription strength or would that include the Olay 24 as well?
Hi Dr. Sugai! I am a new subscriber and have thoroughly enjoyed watching your skincare videos and appreciate how relatable you are. I wanted to ask you about a good system to start with. I’m 44 years old snd think it’s high time I start a skincare routine. I liked the video you made about helping the groomsman in a wedding you were in with having them use the La Roche Posay Hyaluronic Acid Serum and the Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Face Moisturizer… If I started with that could I also use the Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Moisturizer in the evening? And then finally I wanted to ask if the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair that you got from Costco is the same as any of the other 3 above that I listed. I really take your advice to heart and hope you can help guide me with this. Will be watching and referring you to many of my friends! Thanks so much!
Slow down please. The information is very good but you speak too fast. Is hard to process all this similar words and all this information. I am interested in this content but please speak slowly. Thank you
Would you please tell me when they say to reapply sunscreen do we need to wash the face ever time to reapply or can we reapply on top of the sunscreen we applied earlier. 🤔
I found your channel while looking for reviews on this product. Of course now I am a subscriber! One question though. There is soooooo much talk about jar packaging and the degrading of ingredients packaged in jars. Is this not an issue for this product as it contains retinol? I'm so confused as some derms say no, no, no to jar packaging and others say it is fine. Here in Canada, this jar costs $45 so I wouldn't call that inexpensive and I wouldn't want to waste money on a product that will be ineffective shortly after I purchase it.
Costco 46 dollars for two jars can’t wait to use it!! No it does not say how much Retinol is in the jar, but is the main ingredient. I’ve been waiting for weeks to buy this as I was looking at the reviews. Been using murad and saw some differences but what I paid I expected more.
I used regular for a few years, then switched to 24max about 3 jars ago. I like it just as much.

TTFN.
📍There is a liquid dropper serum that is the same product how do you use that the same way under the cream new subscriber!!
Usually retinol is better at nighttime. But if it meant for daytime, then it should be okay.
I love your Chanel ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Not that I'm looking forward to it, but I've been using Retinol 24 for over a month now and still has not experienced any peeling like others . I moisturize really well after each use, could it be that?
I don’t appreciate the fact that Olay does not disclose the percentage of their retinols. An absolute deal breaker for me
When you look at the ingredient list, the higher up the ingredient is on the list the more of it is in the jar. With this product retinol is one of the first five ingredients so there is quite a bit of it in there.
It’s 0.3%
@@xornanbu really? That’s not bad, I searched and went above and beyond to know Olay’s retinol percentage. Finally went with 0.3% Neutrogena retinol. At least Neutrogena is upfront about their percentage
@@thedivinefeminine1821 again, you can watch derm videos. They tell u what m about to tell u, it’s very important to know Retinol Percentage.
It's a good product and it works. Wrinkles diminish.
thanks, i think i will get the max when i run out of the normal
I just started retinol max and for one night i can already see improvement, it seems like it’s fading my dark spot due to pimples. Right now I’m using retinol every other night, I don’t have lots of pimples, my concern is the texture of my skin, I came across this video and I thought I’ll give it a try. I also use kojic with tranexamic acid cream in my morning routine.
Congrats Dr. you deserv it I love love love 💕 your videos
Which one do you like better? I just purchased the max but I've been using the CeraVe for a long time. Just curious which one you like better?
Such good information....! Congrats on the 100k subs!
Another fantastic informative video thank youuu! Congrats on over 100k 👏👏👏👏
Great information and thank you so much Doctor.🙏💐
8/29/23 (just a year later) and already over 372k subs 👏👏👏
Thank u for sharing i want some
Thank you for sharing your expertise with us.
What do you recommend for under eye bags?
New to your channel, and enjoying it. Good info, and I like your delivery.
The jar design sucks. Pump is best not sure why skin companies insist on using the jars which ruin the product and not very sanitary overall.
Congratulations on the 100K!
Sir olay retinol 24 moisturizer or olay retinol 24 max moisturizer Kya ye dono same h ya alag alag h btaye pls??
Same confusion me😂😂
Slow down please. The information is very good but you speak too fast. Is hard to process all this similar words and all this information. I am interested in this content but please speak slowly. Thank you
Go to your settings and slow your speed down.
can you do a compare olay retinol 24 max or play regenerist retinol and play regenerant collagen peptide?
Costco in Calgary Canada doesn’t sell the Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 anymore.😩☹️
Plz review the Olay Vit C cream
i found something named 'olay pro advanced retinol complex' in redmond costco. is it the same as retinol 24?
Would you please tell me when they say to reapply sunscreen do we need to wash the face ever time to reapply or can we reapply on top of the sunscreen we applied earlier. 🤔
How long should I wait after applying the hydraulic acid moisturizer before applying the Retinol?
Can a breast cancer survivor use retinol? Thank you.
I have sensitive skin, Neutrogena rapid wrinkle moisturizer or oly retinol which one is better sir?
Awesome!
Do we need to apply a moisturizing serum after using this? I’m new at this stuff.
Hi Doc what face wash can I use I’m going out to buy the olay retinoids
How often do you do your recommended retinol vit c regimen?
Can I use Philips Lumea for hair removal while using retinol 24? What precautions should be taken? Thank you.
Congratulations love your channel ❤
Aww thank you so so so much! Appreciate you 🙏🏼❤️
Costco 46 dollars for two jars can’t wait to use it!! No it does not say how much Retinol is in the jar, but is the main ingredient. I’ve been waiting for weeks to buy this as I was looking at the reviews. Been using murad and saw some differences but what I paid I expected more.
