I’m an old man from across the pond but every time I listen to this music I regret not having been born in America, in this culture and tradition. It speaks to me in a way nothing else does. Keep playing lads, you’re keeping alive something very special.
You're not the only person that feels like that Graham. I too am thousands of miles away across the pond but this music speaks to the soul. It is America and the American people at its finest. It should be treasured and preserved. God bless America and all its people.
Caleb , Absolutely this music has its roots from across the sea such as Ireland, Scotland and other country’s. I know for sure here in Louisiana our roots are deep in Scots/Irish and love our heritage.
@@MadCapMag I think you may not be hearing the rhythm guitar. That solid running back beat is that bass. He's almost got the lead. I love the way he walks from one chord to the next. Listen again, Aiden, you don't hear this kind of slick bass playing all the time.
Hi . I'm from South Africa. I must have been born to love Bluegrass music. Loved the sound since many years ago but before you tube. No music like that here. Since TH-cam and the kind musicians who share their music ....what a turn around in my life. Love the gospel songs and old timey songs as well. You guys are brilliant musicians. Please don't stop. After listening to so many other bluegrass music, I just discovered your videos today. So inspiring. I have started practising bluegrass style on my banjo a few months ago ... no one to guide me except the State's musicians on youtube. God bless you!!
You Guys are Great, I was on my I pad And ran across this music love old Country Bluegrass Musiic. I’m from Sylvania, Ohio, ten minutes from Toledo Ohio. I grew up with this music, I don’t play but have all the bluegrass instruments, I won’t get rid of them, let the wife get rid of them when I’m gone. I’m 74 years young, Feelin great, you all are great musicians. My Mom was from Union county Kentucky. Used to listen to the Grand Ole Opry, and still do to this day.
'Best' is a tough sentence for a player. Bluegrass Is born upon poverty and despair. The people who really master it, have roots in that sort of life....even if they leave it growing up. The rest of us that didn't live it can only be disciples.
My first time ever hearing of this tune and I’d say it’s probably the best. You fellas should try find a mandolin in some of the parts, that would finish it right off. Either way, you fellas are one talented crew, keep on playing these old favourites. God bless y’all from Canada.
Go to TH-cam and listen to it with words. It is beautiful. It is also called "Life is like a Mountain Railroad". Brad Paisley has a good version of it.
conjures up visions of a vintage steam train chuffing along fairly fast, music in perfect time with the big pistons and drivers.....thundering through a tunnel or two and coming fast around a few bends and on the straightaways and a blast on that lonesome whistle every so often......nonstop down the line and ON TIME......!
When it comes to this kind of music, you're either on the train, or you're not. I've been a regular passenger since my grandpa and I listened to the Grand Ol' Opry together in the late 40's/early 50's. Thank you , Grandpa, for buying me that lifetime pass. My love for the train spirit has only grown as the years rolled by, and this tune by these marvelous musicians nailed it.
I love how the bass player keeps double time with his legs and body and plays the beat in regular time.... amazing! He is one awesome guitar player on the song Rawhide as well. This song gets photo bombed by a guy playing catch with a foot ball just like I Saw the Light!
Wow banjo man you are absolutely awesome! I have replayed it a dozen times really wicked banjo playing. I'm 73 played guitar all my life just started learning banjo lessons from youtube. Loveit!
Me, too. I think that;s what brought the laugh of joy out of the background. I was shaking my head and grinning from ear to ear for that same reason. Slickest chord changes I've heard on bass.
railroads used to be VERY particular and super-strict about running ON TIME with clockwork precision. as a public service,at certain points along a daily route, the conductor and engineer would check and syncronize their expensive railroad-approved {usually Swiss-made} watches and on the conductor,s mark, the engineer would give the whistle a blast....for miles around, folks within earshot would stop whatever they were doing and set their own clocks and watches to that whistle. ON TIME or heads would roll.....! especially passenger trains....folks were paying good money for those tickets, especially First Class passengers traveling on business who might have to catch a connecting train to their final destination and they had a right to figure they,d arrive exactly on time at whatever station it said on the railroad,s schedule/timetable.
I started crying the first few notes. I couldn't help but recognize something special going on here especially god sent(sorry I can't do this writing on the phone to capitalize like I need and such). I dont know who y'all are and such but I couldnt quit crying. God bless yall.(that's tremendous on the bass and banjo guy!!!
I notice the laughing when melodic banjo is thrown in. Melodic is going up and down the scale while the other is taking a chord and breaking it up. It is much harder to do.
This is some of the most joyful music in the world, and I find myself grinning from ear to ear when it's played this well. I was in the middle of an appreciative laugh when the person behind the camera burst out. It's on par to clapping your hands, stomping your feet and singing along. I think the laugh was one of joy, not rudeness.
Every time I start playing bluegrass. People get stupid and make wisecracks. I guess I`m with the wrong people. Need to find a crew who can actually play. It`s not easy to find people that can play though. Many players can`t play worth shit. You guys are great !

Banjo at the end absolutely broke it down, that was incredible
As a banjo player, that’s some genius banjo playing there. Solid and creative.
Clean and tight and spot on. Very pretty music.

I couldn’ta said it better. So true! He’s looking down, smiling.
Another old man, banjo fanatic, from across the pond. Great rendition of the old classic song. Super banjo playing.
Every time I listen to this instrumental, i get the chills from how good it sounds.
Can you imagine building a railroad out in Utah somewhere in 1840 and jamming to this every evening after some whiskey and beef jerky?
