This game was mean spirited for no reason, especially the ending-it felt like the game made tried its hardest to make me hate Ellie, Abby, and especially Joel. I know its an apocalypse world where things are awful and horrible, but we've had enough of those honestly. We literally have nihilism fatigue in the media. I'm definitely not saying this had to be some happy go lucky story, but needless violence and revenge is bad is so overblown.
this is what the last of us 2 should have been about the aftermath of last of us 1, Ellie growing up in the world she didn't get to die for you can still have the plot with Dina and Jesse, Ellie being angry with Joel for not letting her be the cure work it in with a plot of a new threat that isn't based on some dumb ass revenge story scenes like this are beautiful but it can't save this game knowing what happens next
Ok so I’d like to make a statement I refuse the accept the existence of the rest of the game but the flashbacks of Joel and Ellie they are the real game. what happens after they get to Jackson Joel didn’t die Ellie didn’t go on a revenge mission none of that happened just they lived happily ever after
This right here, is the best scene in the game. I think it's the best scene in the game because of the bonding these two are having and it just brings joy to my heart:)
Abby kills Ellie’s friend after all the build up - Jesse Abby killed her father figure - Joel Abby kills a person very close to her - Tommy Ellie loses her fingers and now her worst fear has come true - all alone Dina and her child have vanished or either been killed Ellie spares Abby at the end😐 IGN 10/10 masterpiece Don’t waste your money
This is what I wanted. Joel and Ellie father daughter bond through the apocalypse. Such a wasted opportunity. They show glimpses of Ellie and Joel in flashbacks. Not good enough. That’s why I’m not buying this game.
This really pisses me off because these flashback scenes are amazing but all of this potential is wasted because they prefered to do this shitty revenge story and got rid of joel immediately. The core of the first game was these 2 but we get none of that
Elie and Joel had such a great dynamic, it's baffling that they killed him so early in the game. I'm actually okay with Joel dying in theory, but it should have been like 2/3rds through the way of the game, not the first hour.
@@alissonfranca9162 Kratos, like Joel, still has more that can be done with their story that can effectively earn their deaths and make it meaningful. It has nothing to do with maturity as it does good storytelling.
I can only imagine Ellie and Joel watching Jurassic Park together. I just wish this sequel could be just Ellie learning the truth of what Joel did instead. Play as her and as time skips through we watch her develop learning more about why Joel lied to her. It be a good and better emotional story. Then the crap we had forced down our throats.
I’m still enjoying this game but I agree. This is kinda what I expected immediately to follow as I completed the first game. Overall I think TLOU2 is actually a decent game. It’s very emotional and dramatic (we know why ofc) but as a gamer I find it cathartic to relieve my emotions through these stories, and even though it’s cruel I still get that from it. It’s still beautiful. The set design is still amazing. The dialogue and interaction between Ellie and Dina I think are somewhat interesting so far. Though I can’t say more interesting than Joel and Ellie, they obv take the cake. The actual mechanics and combat are fun and have me saying “holy fucking shit” out loud often. The first game only did that to me a few times, TLOU2 feels a bit more realistically hostile, but still a balanced amount of protection. You don’t feel completely defeated if you die. But as we can see with this drawn out scene here, I feel like they wrapped it up so perfectly and it was perfectly executed from start to finish. Best scene I think I’ve ever experienced, even with movies included in that comparison. This scene genuinely evoked emotions from me. Not just because Joel died, but because Ellie brings so much life to him, and him to her. They make life joyful for each other, they still bicker but it’s totally normal. And the dramatic part, we all know it’s built on lies. That translates to our lives and questions we have about it. Is our happiness built on lies too? Does it matter? Is it / was it worth it? And for me, there’s underlying tones of acceptance in their relationship. She’s a lesbian and it’s not even hardly a topic between them yet their love and bond is so strong and normal and powerful despite him being a liar and her being a lesbian. It provokes a lot of thought for me, which is why I like NaughtyDog games. Brought genuine smiles to my face and a couple genuine tears. I don’t know if I’m really that mad about the way it’s gone down. I didn’t want Joel to die. I really didn’t. I knew it was gonna happen though based on all the content we got since that Fall 2018 date. Idk how to feel yet really. Letting it soak in. I’m about 7-9 hours into the game.
Look this how i would make the story, 5 years after the first game after all this flashbacks Ellie and Joel relationships starts going down and after that a group of Ex Fireflys goes to capture Joel and then Ellie and her friends goes on a whole journey to rescue Joel and in the way she stars to understand why Joel make his decision to save her. Edit: I would not make Joel such a wimp like NaughtyDog did in this game Joel and Tommy would have faced alot of them and they would have to fight very hard to escape but at the end they set up an ambush and they capture both Joel and Tommy and then we play as Ellie doing patrol in Jackson and after days she noticed Joel is not coming back and after that she went to the place Joel and Tommy went they took them to Texas that's right same place Joel lived and then Ellie goes to save Joel and Tommy with her friends Dina and Jesse.
I would like to watch the game movie on the game story plot you described. I’ve read already many comments here and in Internet. Unfortunately directors and creators are obsessed now in the games, in the tv-shoes, in the movies to show people as much blood and violence as they could... Really shit. Instead of showing us the rare good relationship between father and daughters which many of us wanted to really see... We need love. There is already so much pain, why need to produce more?
This should have been the whole game. Character driven. Plenty of moments of relief from the tension. Instead this 30min is probably the highlight of the entire 25 hour game.
Man this feels like The Last of Us deleted scene, The Last of Us part ll is just too trash for this gem.... how the hell does the rest of the story got approved?
Felt like the writers of Part 1 did these scenes, and then said peace and Neil Cuckman with his agenda took over and did the rest... that is why these scenes are great
This made me smile... Loving scene between two people who have suffered a lot already... A shame the whole game is full of nihilism, sadness and darkness.
A perfect sequel would have been Ellie, slightly older with Joel as her official father figure. Them vs the Fireflies who would be out for revenge because of what took place at the hospital... not whatever this was. Naughty Dog really ruined a franchise!
This is the basic substance of the plot that we needed, not some mission to get vengeance only to not fulfill your task, requiring Joel dying in a way an amateur would. Joel and Ellie are so cute together. Their father-daughter dynamic is such a beautiful and powerful thing. I would've preferred TLOU 2 being about Joel and Ellie's internal conflict between each other, and them rebuilding their relationship after she found out about his lie with a spicy sub plot or twenty that advances this main idea obviously. I'm not unreasonable, just as many other TLOU fans are. All we want is a decent game. Is that too much to ask?
I feel like this flashback is the entire point of the despair within The Last of Us Part II. This will make you appreciate and long for the good moments, how in all our anger, there is still good.
Funny how THIS was the best part of the sequel. THIS. A part where we get to enjoy time with Joel and Ellie instead of playing half the game as a broken down Ellie and the other half as unlikable Abby. It's as if this game should have been a game about Joel and Ellie.

Bilbo Swaggins nihilism fatigue is exactly what I’ve been experimenting for a while and hadn’t come up with a word to express it. Thank you
Not to mention the sex scene
this is what the last of us 2 should have been about
the aftermath of last of us 1, Ellie growing up in the world she didn't get to die for
you can still have the plot with Dina and Jesse, Ellie being angry with Joel for not letting her be the cure
work it in with a plot of a new threat that isn't based on some dumb ass revenge story
scenes like this are beautiful but it can't save this game knowing what happens next
That's waybit hurts so much

It's moments like these why I don't want to dislike this game. But after what I've seen... God. No coming back.
Ok so I’d like to make a statement I refuse the accept the existence of the rest of the game but the flashbacks of Joel and Ellie they are the real game. what happens after they get to Jackson Joel didn’t die Ellie didn’t go on a revenge mission none of that happened just they lived happily ever after
Agreed.
Works for me
And Ellie didn't lost two fingers.
That's unrealistic and boring.
Still better than what was presented to us in the game.
Bruh, you don't know how excited I was to see her swim!
Im just gonna pretend this part is the sequel that's all

Actually the only things i would accepted of this sequel are all the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie.
Me too, lets all pretend that the test of the game its just a nighmare
@@smoker5989 same
They should release a ''Part 3'' in a few months where it shows a young Ellie waking up from a nightmare. That's the only way to fix this.
This right here, is the best scene in the game. I think it's the best scene in the game because of the bonding these two are having and it just brings joy to my heart:)
16:28 if only joel had that teleportation skill 3 years later he might have saved himself from a really bad headache
Too soon man
That's too much man!
This comment got me rolling
Abby kills Ellie’s friend after all the build up - Jesse
Abby killed her father figure - Joel
Abby kills a person very close to her - Tommy
Ellie loses her fingers and now her worst fear has come true - all alone
Dina and her child have vanished or either been killed
Ellie spares Abby at the end😐
IGN 10/10 masterpiece
Don’t waste your money
Joel dies?! Wtf?!?! That's really sad!
They think they're clever "revenge doesn't bring anyone back! It just continues the cycle!"
@@gamerkey8278 I wonder what Joel would've done if that was Ellie that died...
Isn't Dina ellie's girlfriend
Clarissa Morgenstern ya but she banged Jesse
If only the game was just all the flashbacks continuing from the first game, then I would've bought it.
Then wouldn’t it not be flash backs and just the game itself
Yeah that's what I meant basically.
Would've been extremely boring.

This is what I wanted. Joel and Ellie father daughter bond through the apocalypse. Such a wasted opportunity. They show glimpses of Ellie and Joel in flashbacks. Not good enough. That’s why I’m not buying this game.

@@Idknomore2 but none the less, better than the rest of the story
And the rest of the game.
This really pisses me off because these flashback scenes are amazing but all of this potential is wasted because they prefered to do this shitty revenge story and got rid of joel immediately. The core of the first game was these 2 but we get none of that
It's not a revenge story.
I’m just saying this should have been the game

Elie and Joel had such a great dynamic, it's baffling that they killed him so early in the game. I'm actually okay with Joel dying in theory, but it should have been like 2/3rds through the way of the game, not the first hour.
The first half would be meaningless filler otherwise.
Imagine if God of War '2' came out and Kratos was killed early on by Magni or Modis son and you spent the entire time as Atreus.
Magni and Modi don't have children. Their father on the other hand...
Honestly I would love that. Y'all are just not ready to be emotionally mature.
@@alissonfranca9162 Kratos, like Joel, still has more that can be done with their story that can effectively earn their deaths and make it meaningful. It has nothing to do with maturity as it does good storytelling.
If it had a good story like this I'd take it.
It just makes me feel so good That Joel could find the daugther he always missed in Ellie...
Incredible sequence of a father and daughter get together!

Existance Untold Just go back to the trash can you came out from.
Existance Untold how?
Existance Untold you don’t know the meaning of simp, do you?
The scene inside the spaceship thing is so sweet 💖
It was pretty good.
Wow funny how one person can come up with a story 100× better then a whole team of writers could.
Boom!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I would like to watch the game movie on the game story plot you described. I’ve read already many comments here and in Internet. Unfortunately directors and creators are obsessed now in the games, in the tv-shoes, in the movies to show people as much blood and violence as they could... Really shit. Instead of showing us the rare good relationship between father and daughters which many of us wanted to really see... We need love. There is already so much pain, why need to produce more?
So crazy I was thinking about how I would have made the story and came up with something similar to your idea 😂
It's heartbreaking to compare Joel's smiling faces here to his face when he had last convo with Ellie.

Can someone add this to the end of the first game? Thatd be great. I'd rather not have the rest of it.
I hope they would have just add a new dlc featuring this 30 min gameplay. I would like this way more than the "sequel".
The rests pretty good.
This, this right here is why we love The Last Of Us, wonderful scenes between two amazing characters whether it’s good moments or bad
This should have been the whole game. Character driven. Plenty of moments of relief from the tension. Instead this 30min is probably the highlight of the entire 25 hour game.
It's a pretty good game.

They really didn't.

And we got it.
