So I recut it here to make some adjustments. Instead of Abby letting Ellie and Dina go, Ellie kills Abby and fulfills her revenge plot. I just let Ellie kill Abby in one of the QTE sequences, then I cut in an earlier scene where Ellie kills Nora. The scene ambiance matches perfectly and seems like Ellie is killing Abby. So in this ending, instead of Ellie losing her fingers, letting Abby live, and ending up alone (since Dina leaves her for pursuing Abby), she instead kills Abby, lives happily with Dina and the baby. She's still haunted by what happened to Joel, but she has made peace with it. In my opinion, this makes for a better ending. Hope you guys enjoy the video!

@@TheHalomaster256 Yeah, I agree with that. I think they just pulled the trigger to fast with Joel. I would have been fine with him dying as a fan, but it felt unearned. Maybe if we saw Abby's side first, leading up to Joel's death then people could have been sympathetic to her.

At the end of TLOU1 she confesses her survivor's guilt to Joel and makes him SWEAR to her that he's telling the truth about the Fireflies. And he lies. Ellie was committed to getting to the Fireflies. That was her only objective in the first game, and she believed that was the only way she could give her life any meaning. Even if the Fireflies failed, she wanted to TRY. And Joel takes that choice from her, which she has to figure out largely for herself years down the road before she confronts him and makes him tell the truth. Her feelings towards Joel are warranted. And no, this is not the writers saying Ellie does not love Joel anymore, or that she suddenly hates him. If you paid attention to the last cutscene, you would realize this is not the case. She says to Joel, "I was supposed to die in that hospital. My life would've fucking mattered." What she's saying is that she does not think her life has any meaning because she wasn't given the chance to try and help. EVEN IF THE FIREFLIES FAILED, it was about the effort for Ellie, not the result. In this scene she's looking for validation. And what Joel says to her is, "if somehow the lord gave me a second chance, I would do it all over again." He's saying if he had to make the same choices, he would *still save Ellie every time.* He's communicating to her that her life DOES matter. She wants to know that her life means something, and Joel is telling her that her life means EVERYTHING to him. Look at the look on her face after she hears him say this. She doesn't hate Joel in TLOU2. She has a legitimate issue with Joel's actions but comes to understand how much he really loved her, and THAT'S the point of the scene. It's not thrown in there as some "fuck you" to Joel or to show their relationship being tarnished. Quite the opposite. It's highlighting the nuance of human relationships - that you can deeply resent someone you love dearly, and it's not black and white.
They probably wanted to show you her point of view and how revenge is a two way street where everyone gets hurt. Joel kills her dad and basically destroys the Fireflies, she kills Joel in revenge, and Ellie kills Abby in revenge for Joel. No one wins. However, why the hell they expected us to sympathize with Abby at all after she brains Joel I have no idea. Joel was a beloved character and one of the better protagonists in gaming but now I'm supposed to feel sorry for his killer? Fuck that!
The only way for this story to work is to not tell us that Abby killed Joel. You would have to change the plot significantly but it could have been done. ND had to know that players would never want to play as the person who killed Joel
This actually is a better ending in every way Ellie's plot is completed, she get revenge, but even that can't bring Joel back, so she's haunted by it, but in the end, she live's the life that Joel wanted her to live Just a better constructed Abby dead scene and it would have been perfect

Ellie's revenge revenge was focused on abby and her friends were only killed after they attacked her.
BlackMamba Mwangi but wasnt Lev and Abby were left for dead if Ellie hadnt saved them? It wouldve worked out perfectly and thats why the storyline was built that way to show how much better it wouldve been to find peace and accept what happened, not chase revenge and repeat Joel’s mistakes. In the end Ellie realizes that becoming Joel and that killing Abby will not help her get over his death. It’s a whole lesson for Ellie and the players but of course the game has to add the last fight and make Ellie sacrifice everything and gain nothing. It’s like a dog going through constant training and pain to do tricks and not getting a reward. I get that it’s a very shockvalue ending but after all the player’s have been through, the ending was NOT WORTH IT and felt blue balled
ddy 73 Abby’s dad was the doctor that was going to have to kill Ellie to make the vaccine until Joel killed him + a bunch of other people to saved Ellie. That’s why Abby and her gang had a hunch on him and wanted him to pay for what he did. The game wanted to show the character parallels of Ellie and Abby losing their dads.
Its weird how this is the first "How it should have ended" I feel genuine ANGER from. Like, it's not a joke, it's, "THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD HAVE ENDED." I only got that feeling from Mass Effect 3 before.
Atleast ME3 had a semi good ending, Shepard dies but saves the galaxy. In TLOU2 Ellie goes and tries to kill Abby for Joel's death....but doesn't do it.. WTF
@bernard chong Apparently because in the end she forgave Joel for what he did and found that killing Abby wouldn’t give what she wanted. But like honestly does that matter she’s already killed hundreds of people just to get to that point. So her getting that message last minute makes no sense. Plus the message was poorly delivered through the plot so like who cares that Ellie found that.

That's how everyone mostly feels about his death in the first place. It doesn't make any damn sense and it's out of character. Most of us expected Joel to die, but not like THAT.

What pisses me off the most is that they had the perfect story served to them on a silver platter, Ellie struggling with survivor's guilt because of Joel's choice. Now that's a journey I'd like to see, but what do we get instead? A dime a dozen revenge plot where we're made to sympathise with the villain of the story and shun the protagonist.
Joel and Ellie are the villain of the Story. from the moment Joel killed everyone and left humanity without a cure he (joel) is the villain of the story and then anyone who knew about it (Ellie and Tommy) are too. Abby just wanted revenge for killing her father thats why she left Tommie and Ellie alive. if people payed more attention to what they watch and could think (not much, a bit) they would understand that in the end Ellie leaves Abby alive cause she forgave Joel. She finally found the peace she was looking for and it wasn't in killing Abby. This game is a masterpiece but most gamers showed that they are incapable of comprehending complex stories and character dynamics.
Costas Savvides the story isn’t very complex at all. It’s messy and completely out of order which results in a failure to create any emotional bond between players and characters, which is why the first game was so great. The characters also experience little to no development which causes the story to be a drag after 10-15 hours.
Actually they are trying to show that their are no villians in this world. That’s why it’s all about revenge and how different things lead to more revenge. Joel kills Abby dad Abby seeks revenge kills Joel, ellie seeks revenge and kills her friends. Abby seeks revenge again instead lets them go breaking the cycle ellie however seeks revenge again. If ellie were to kill Abby it would once again lead to more revenge as lev would go after ellie. Their are no villians in this world.
Yeah, I can accept gay Ellie living the Lesbians dream. Never liked the fast one they pulled in the Left behind DLC because that was entirely Neil Drunckman's work. But, oh well. Better a happy ever after than...whatever the actual game was.

After Tommy and Ellie rescued Joel back to the base,They tried to fix joel but It's already too late as the Gun shot is Fatal.Joel says its fine because he's gonna meet his daughter and Says his final words By Apologizing and Thanking to both Ellie and Tommy and then passes away on the bed. Then in the Climax,Ellie gets her revenge by putting a single bullet on Abby's head and heads back home,enjoys her time with Dina and Tommy and Finally ends with Ellie playing the Guitar,Remembering Joel.
Joel and Ellie patching things up would've been a great plot driver. If, if ever Joel's death is inevitable, he should at least have a honorable death saving Ellie or anyone from clickers or hunters for example. Before he dies, at least give him the peace of mind that Ellie truly loved him and cared for him like a real daughter would for his dad.
The entire story was not fucking dissappointing from beginning to end- granted there are a few bad moments but a lot of it is great. It makes sense, of course Joel was gonna get a death warrant on his name- he took away that what was so precious to the Fireflies, he was gonna die anytime soon after the first game that was so fucking obvious
Ye and also, you get to see what Joel and Ellie get up to in between the first and second game. What more do you want, if the game was completely like that, it would be so fucking boring and tedious after a while because there is literally no tension
This ending actually makes sense and in my eyes fulfills the story's message in a more satisfying way. When Abby arrived at the theater and killed Jesse and and Tommy too (in this ending) the player becomes absolutely enraged. In the end, with Ellie being victorious and choosing to beat Abbey just as she did to Joel, the player finally has a sense of closure, a sense that the whole journey of seeking revenge was completed. Along with this, Naughty Dog's ideas that "revenge and vengeance doesn't solve anything" is still relevant to this ending as in the epilogue Ellie is still haunted by the image of Joel's death, realizing that after all the chaos and violence that she committed to bring justice for Joel, there's really nothing she and the player can do to bring Joel back. It's a sad ending that obviously has some flaws, but I feel that this type of ending is much more fulfilling for the players who have been playing the whole game with the main goal of killing Abbey. In the final scene, we only see Ellie holding what was Joel's guitar. With Joel gone, it's the only thing that can remind her of his memory. If anything, the finale should show Ellie holding the song, singing the whole song of "Future Days" (the song that Joel sang to her)
David Quach imo, you should have had a choice to kill Abby, or not. I like the ending, but I see where people are coming from. Choose to kill Abby, Ellie is haunted by it with different ending. Maybe never seeing Dina again.

Fg 98 Ellie can say whatever she wants to Joel imo. The two are not related in any sort of way, so Joel has no right over Ellie. He has no rights of making her decisions so realistically Joel can’t really do anything to Ellie, since they had only found each other in a zombie apocalypse. But I’m still a little sad how rude Ellie was to Joel.
I would have liked that even if Ellie wasn't his daughter he clearly took care of her as one, that was the point and i think that Ellie would eventually understand why he what he did because she was going to become a mother to Dina's son and if the same situation happend to her she would do the same

Yeah every one in the “camp” would have died eventually and that is very sad cause out of the whole time playing with Abby Lev was my favorite I mean it’s kinda hard to enjoy anyone else
The irony is if Ellie stayed on the farm, Abby would have died for sure. But she set out to kill her and ended up sparing/forgiving her for killing Joel. She learned through Nora why Abby set out for revenge.

I mean I think one chapter that had a revenge is bad cliche would’ve been okay. But dragging it out into a 20 hour game is just boring. I mean who cares if Ellie learns to forgive Joel and finds thar killing Abby won’t help her when the whole plot is flawed, contrived, manipulative and generally unsatisfying.

Never would’ve thought that you of all people would end up making up your own ending of a game using spliced scenes to make it. But considering how said game turned out, how accurate the leaks turned out to be, can’t really blame you. While I somewhat get what TLOU2 was trying to do, with the cycle of revenge and how it can destroy one’s life, relationships and soul, it was really mismanaged from the start and it came at too great a cost. Joel's dead, Tommy's a half blinded vegetable after getting shot in the head, Ellie broken beyond recovery & made to look weak and unable to finish it when its end is right at her fingertips (too soon?), how do they even go on from here with what made the first game beloved now gone for good? Shame that this is the same Naughty Dog that brought the world Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter and the Uncharted series. Well, at least one other young woman, orphaned by another zombie apocalypse, got her happy ending last year.
Maybe a vision where Ellie tells Joel: "I've tried to make things better. I've tried to make a difference. I've tried do make *all this shit worth it* ." There is a long pause before Joel's ghost answers: "Are you happy?" "Yeah; big shock but yeah." "Then that's all I could'a ever asked of you."
The best part about this ending is that you made it with stuff that's actually in the game, when ppl "fix an ending" they basically just read their ideas but this proofs that the game was just a big puzzle but it was never solved the right way, you sir have my respects.
Real ending: Joel wakes up from a coma. His daughters Eliie and Sarah are at his bed side. Blah blah blah. Tommy comes and picks them up in his truck and they drive off into the sunset heading home. In short- it was all a dream and we can forget the last of us 2 ever existed.
Honest to God if I didn't see the title and know anything about the ending, I'd assume this was it. The right way to end. This is a closed loop. She killed him, you kill her. Bam.
@@alexl957 He killed a crackpot Doctor who was going in blind (see the collectible notes/tapes) with an extremely slim to non-existent chance of anything coming of it other than the pointless murder of a little girl. On top of that, had he just surrendered and not forced the issue he could have lived (though kidnapping her in the first pace would still makes that pretty slim chance, so running was his best bet), but he decided to be a dumbass and challenge the clearly determined man with a gun to a more or less knife fight.

If you watched the trailer a couple years back where they showed Abby getting captured by the Seraphites you can see she was ripped and looked fine but not this fucking muscular. Idk who thought it was a good idea or thought it would be beneficial to the story to make her super jacked.

This is absolutely fantastic. The fact that someone 1. Needs to do this for a game that could have been so much better is ridiculous and 2. Has so much passion for games and respects characters that they recut a positive ending is amazing.
@Memes Seriales I kinda liked how quick and unforgiving Joel's death was. In fact I think Joel's last line of dialogue before dying was really powerful: "Go ahead and give whatever speech you're about to give". It really illustrates how pointless revenge is, and how taking out your anger will never leave you truly sated.

This is the 'expected' ending. And that's perfectly fine. The experience is as much about the journey as the destination. You pretty much knew how Breaking Bad had to end, but the journey there was a hell of a ride. These game companies and movie/television studios end up screwing everything up in their blind devotion to subverting expectations.

Time moves forward,Ellie grows up and She talks to Joel on his Grave with Dina and Tommy with his Eye patched up and giving ellie the company she deserves and Finally ends with Ellie playing the Guitar in front of all of them,Remembering Joel.The End
the best part is that the last cutscene with joel happens after you let abby go and i feel like most players after watching it were like ""WE SHOULD HAVE KILLED ABBY DAMN IT!!!"
I love this version you’ve put together! I finished my play though and I just decided to believe Abby will eventually die of her wounds from the fight with Elli and the malnourishment + exposure of being tied to that pillar. She got into a boat and sailed away but with 0 supplies and probably losing loads of blood so I don’t feel like it’s too OTT to imagine her dying
When Ellie says “but I would like to try” you can see Joel almost starting to cry and you hear it in his voice because he thinks the bond between Ellie and him will be partly restored but as the player you know what happens to him and that really made me shed a tear
I guess that was the direction of the game but it ended up just being pointless, nothing being accomplished. No payoff, closure. All the pain and suffering of the ALL the people killed amounting to nothing.

Im gonna think of this as the real ending because, while I understand what the point of the main story and the message is, its nice to think of this as a possiblity.
This ending is so much better than the original one, sure it's cliche and all but it's much better than the shit wreck that the real ending has. We waited for 7 years and the devs and writer can't write a better story/plot/ending than a youtuber or redditor. Like why did you have to do Ellie and Joel so dirty man?! I was so close to buying this but bad money management meant I'd have to wait a further week. Boy am I glad I didn't. I just finished watching the whole game and it has to be one of the worst Triple A games I've come across. It isn't the story as such, which, in all fairness is pretty shit, but it's more about how much disrespect Naughty Dog has for the fan base for them to think we'd accept this shit. Visually the game is stunning, and the voice acting is top notch, but the plot was as convoluted as my grandmother's underwear, may she rest in peace. I just feel hopeless. I'm looking forward to Ghost of Tshushima and Cyberpunk 2077 but a part of me is now hesitant. Peace out, and don't forget to wash your hands.

Because for real in the original ending only Abby gets a hopeful ending (finding the 200 hundred firefly group) and Ellie ends with a broken spirit and uncertain with what happened to Dina and her baby, with no revenge fulfilled and unable to play the guitar that Joel taught her to. This is the biggest middlefinger to their fans, and the characters we loved in the first game. I really hope this backfires to Neil Trans-lover simpleton cuckmann. As far as I know this game isn’t cannon and is just the biggest most funded stupid fan fiction created in the game industry.

This is a good fan edit ending I’m glad that it wasn’t one of those ppl who keep preaching about how the game is about “the gay agenda”. Ellie’s gay so fucking what it’s not about her sexuality. (12mins of ellie and Gina romance won’t hurt the 10hr gameplay)it’s about Ellies and Joel’s father daughter relationship, and even though Ellie felt betrayed by Joel’s choice she still saw him as family. My only wish was for her to have called him dad at least once in game.

I could say that what was released is nothing but an awful high-budget fanfiction game made to shove politics unto gamers. But for this ending, I say this IS the true and canon ending. Let's say it is the better or golden ending: Joel is still alive, Abby dies in the manner she tries to kill Joel, and Ellie gets an hopeful future. Another golden ending would be that Ellie woke up from a coma and Joel is there by her side. She tells him of a horrid nightmare world she's in.
The last of us part ll went full red dead 2 but actually failed we loved Arthur and we wanted Micah to die for what he did and we got to kill him we loved Joel and wanted Abby to die for what she did Ellie kills countless people including abbys close friends and lover? I get that Naughty Dog wanted to tell a story about the cycle of revenge from different angles, but I feel like they could have done it much better than they did. I don't understand Joel's character in part 2. I mean, yes, of course, the apocalypse and all the comes with it changes you but how could Joel go from the man he was when he and Ellie met Sam and Henry to trusting Abby just like that? He was sceptical of them, as he should be. He knows better. He knows it's a dangerous world and that you have to be careful about trusting people. I don't think the conflict between him and Ellie could change him so drastically, but then again, losing Ellie for those years definitely affected him. I wish they would have done something like this: She finds out that Joel has been lying, they don't speak for years, then Abby shows up and almost kills Joel. Ellie hunts her down and gets her revenge. Joel survives, Ellie and Dina raise JJ and she mends her relationship with Joel. The ending we got just feels...unfinished. Joel's dead, Abby lives, Maria leaves Tommy, Dina and JJ leave Ellie...like, what the hell? Dina told Ellie that she was done if Ellie went after Abby, and she still did it, only to let Abby live? It feels so anti-climatic. If they really had to kill Joel I wish they would have given him a better death and to let him patch up his relationship with Ellie before he died. Maybe it would have been too good to be true to have both Dina and Joel, but come on...losing both of them?

So like many, I didn't like how the game ended. So I recut it here to make some adjustments. Instead of Abby letting Ellie and Dina go, Ellie kills Abby and fulfills her revenge plot. I just let Ellie kill Abby in one of the QTE sequences, then I cut in an earlier scene where Ellie kills Nora. The scene ambiance matches perfectly and seems like Ellie is killing Abby.
So in this ending, instead of Ellie losing her fingers, letting Abby live, and ending up alone (since Dina leaves her for pursuing Abby), she instead kills Abby, lives happily with Dina and the baby. She's still haunted by what happened to Joel, but she has made peace with it. In my opinion, this makes for a better ending. Hope you guys enjoy the video!

At the end of TLOU1 she confesses her survivor's guilt to Joel and makes him SWEAR to her that he's telling the truth about the Fireflies. And he lies. Ellie was committed to getting to the Fireflies. That was her only objective in the first game, and she believed that was the only way she could give her life any meaning. Even if the Fireflies failed, she wanted to TRY. And Joel takes that choice from her, which she has to figure out largely for herself years down the road before she confronts him and makes him tell the truth. Her feelings towards Joel are warranted. And no, this is not the writers saying Ellie does not love Joel anymore, or that she suddenly hates him. If you paid attention to the last cutscene, you would realize this is not the case. She says to Joel, "I was supposed to die in that hospital. My life would've fucking mattered." What she's saying is that she does not think her life has any meaning because she wasn't given the chance to try and help. EVEN IF THE FIREFLIES FAILED, it was about the effort for Ellie, not the result. In this scene she's looking for validation. And what Joel says to her is, "if somehow the lord gave me a second chance, I would do it all over again." He's saying if he had to make the same choices, he would *still save Ellie every time.* He's communicating to her that her life DOES matter. She wants to know that her life means something, and Joel is telling her that her life means EVERYTHING to him. Look at the look on her face after she hears him say this. She doesn't hate Joel in TLOU2. She has a legitimate issue with Joel's actions but comes to understand how much he really loved her, and THAT'S the point of the scene. It's not thrown in there as some "fuck you" to Joel or to show their relationship being tarnished. Quite the opposite. It's highlighting the nuance of human relationships - that you can deeply resent someone you love dearly, and it's not black and white.
I really don't get the point of playing as Abby, I'm pretty sure people wanted to play as Joel and Ellie not some girl who nobody cares about.
They probably wanted to show you her point of view and how revenge is a two way street where everyone gets hurt. Joel kills her dad and basically destroys the Fireflies, she kills Joel in revenge, and Ellie kills Abby in revenge for Joel. No one wins.
However, why the hell they expected us to sympathize with Abby at all after she brains Joel I have no idea. Joel was a beloved character and one of the better protagonists in gaming but now I'm supposed to feel sorry for his killer? Fuck that!

It wouldve worked out perfectly and thats why the storyline was built that way to show how much better it wouldve been to find peace and accept what happened, not chase revenge and repeat Joel’s mistakes. In the end Ellie realizes that becoming Joel and that killing Abby will not help her get over his death. It’s a whole lesson for Ellie and the players but of course the game has to add the last fight and make Ellie sacrifice everything and gain nothing. It’s like a dog going through constant training and pain to do tricks and not getting a reward. I get that it’s a very shockvalue ending but after all the player’s have been through, the ending was NOT WORTH IT and felt blue balled
ddy 73 Abby’s dad was the doctor that was going to have to kill Ellie to make the vaccine until Joel killed him + a bunch of other people to saved Ellie. That’s why Abby and her gang had a hunch on him and wanted him to pay for what he did. The game wanted to show the character parallels of Ellie and Abby losing their dads.
Its weird how this is the first "How it should have ended" I feel genuine ANGER from. Like, it's not a joke, it's, "THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD HAVE ENDED." I only got that feeling from Mass Effect 3 before.
Atleast ME3 had a semi good ending, Shepard dies but saves the galaxy. In TLOU2 Ellie goes and tries to kill Abby for Joel's death....but doesn't do it.. WTF

What pisses me off the most is that they had the perfect story served to them on a silver platter, Ellie struggling with survivor's guilt because of Joel's choice. Now that's a journey I'd like to see, but what do we get instead? A dime a dozen revenge plot where we're made to sympathise with the villain of the story and shun the protagonist.
Joel and Ellie are the villain of the Story. from the moment Joel killed everyone and left humanity without a cure he (joel) is the villain of the story and then anyone who knew about it (Ellie and Tommy) are too. Abby just wanted revenge for killing her father thats why she left Tommie and Ellie alive. if people payed more attention to what they watch and could think (not much, a bit) they would understand that in the end Ellie leaves Abby alive cause she forgave Joel. She finally found the peace she was looking for and it wasn't in killing Abby. This game is a masterpiece but most gamers showed that they are incapable of comprehending complex stories and character dynamics.

It’s messy and completely out of order which results in a failure to create any emotional bond between players and characters, which is why the first game was so great. The characters also experience little to no development which causes the story to be a drag after 10-15 hours.
Actually they are trying to show that their are no villians in this world. That’s why it’s all about revenge and how different things lead to more revenge. Joel kills Abby dad Abby seeks revenge kills Joel, ellie seeks revenge and kills her friends. Abby seeks revenge again instead lets them go breaking the cycle ellie however seeks revenge again. If ellie were to kill Abby it would once again lead to more revenge as lev would go after ellie. Their are no villians in this world.

Like if they realllly want to kill Joel,Atleast Make it like look like a sacrifice,Joel rushes to shield Ellie results in him getting a fatal gun shot by Abby in the Chest and Abby and her gang rans away because clickers got attracted by the gun shot.
After Tommy and Ellie rescued Joel back to the base,They tried to fix joel but It's already too late as the Gun shot is Fatal.Joel says its fine because he's gonna meet his daughter and Says his final words By Apologizing and Thanking to both Ellie and Tommy and then passes away on the bed.
Then in the Climax,Ellie gets her revenge by putting a single bullet on Abby's head and heads back home,enjoys her time with Dina and Tommy and Finally ends with Ellie playing the Guitar,Remembering Joel.

Joel and Ellie patching things up would've been a great plot driver. If, if ever Joel's death is inevitable, he should at least have a honorable death saving Ellie or anyone from clickers or hunters for example. Before he dies, at least give him the peace of mind that Ellie truly loved him and cared for him like a real daughter would for his dad.
This is how it definitely should've ended. Meanwhile in the real game, the entire story was disappointing from beginning to end.

It makes sense, of course Joel was gonna get a death warrant on his name- he took away that what was so precious to the Fireflies, he was gonna die anytime soon after the first game that was so fucking obvious

This ending actually makes sense and in my eyes fulfills the story's message in a more satisfying way.
When Abby arrived at the theater and killed Jesse and and Tommy too (in this ending) the player becomes absolutely enraged. In the end, with Ellie being victorious and choosing to beat Abbey just as she did to Joel, the player finally has a sense of closure, a sense that the whole journey of seeking revenge was completed. Along with this, Naughty Dog's ideas that "revenge and vengeance doesn't solve anything" is still relevant to this ending as in the epilogue Ellie is still haunted by the image of Joel's death, realizing that after all the chaos and violence that she committed to bring justice for Joel, there's really nothing she and the player can do to bring Joel back. It's a sad ending that obviously has some flaws, but I feel that this type of ending is much more fulfilling for the players who have been playing the whole game with the main goal of killing Abbey. In the final scene, we only see Ellie holding what was Joel's guitar. With Joel gone, it's the only thing that can remind her of his memory. If anything, the finale should show Ellie holding the song, singing the whole song of "Future Days" (the song that Joel sang to her)

The irony is if Ellie stayed on the farm, Abby would have died for sure. But she set out to kill her and ended up sparing/forgiving her for killing Joel. She learned through Nora why Abby set out for revenge.

But considering how said game turned out, how accurate the leaks turned out to be, can’t really blame you.
While I somewhat get what TLOU2 was trying to do, with the cycle of revenge and how it can destroy one’s life, relationships and soul, it was really mismanaged from the start and it came at too great a cost. Joel's dead, Tommy's a half blinded vegetable after getting shot in the head, Ellie broken beyond recovery & made to look weak and unable to finish it when its end is right at her fingertips (too soon?), how do they even go on from here with what made the first game beloved now gone for good?
Shame that this is the same Naughty Dog that brought the world Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter and the Uncharted series.
Well, at least one other young woman, orphaned by another zombie apocalypse, got her happy ending last year.

On top of that, had he just surrendered and not forced the issue he could have lived (though kidnapping her in the first pace would still makes that pretty slim chance, so running was his best bet), but he decided to be a dumbass and challenge the clearly determined man with a gun to a more or less knife fight.

This is absolutely fantastic. The fact that someone 1. Needs to do this for a game that could have been so much better is ridiculous and 2. Has so much passion for games and respects characters that they recut a positive ending is amazing.

In fact I think Joel's last line of dialogue before dying was really powerful: "Go ahead and give whatever speech you're about to give". It really illustrates how pointless revenge is, and how taking out your anger will never leave you truly sated.

@@amyfalconer1660 that's ridiculous Joel (if written consistently) wouldn't have trusted these total strangers and walked right into a ambush, but nope he trusted them immediately, no hesitation is so unlike the Joel we know. The only reason he died the way he did wasn't for artistic expression but just a easy contrived way to get the plot going.

This is the 'expected' ending. And that's perfectly fine. The experience is as much about the journey as the destination. You pretty much knew how Breaking Bad had to end, but the journey there was a hell of a ride.
These game companies and movie/television studios end up screwing everything up in their blind devotion to subverting expectations.
This journey was garbage and the ending was double garbage.

Honestly..if they realllly want to kill Joel and Make the ending rather bittersweet,Atleast Make it like look like a sacrifice,Joel rushes to shield Ellie results in him getting a fatal gun shot by Abby in the Chest and Abby and her gang rans away because clickers got attracted by the gun shot.
After Tommy and Ellie rescued Joel back to the base,They tried to fix joel but It's already too late as the Gun shot is Fatal.Joel says its fine because he's finally gonna meet his daughter soon and Says his final words By Apologizing and Thanking to both Ellie and Tommy and then passes away peacefully on the bed.
Then in the Climax,Ellie and Tommy finds out where Abby and the gang are hiding...Both goes on a killing spree,Tommy kills Sammy but gets shot by abby in the eyes but miraculously survives,He tells ellie that he lives and requests her to not let Abby ran away and Finally Ellie gets to the end and after a huge boss fight..It ends with Ellie putting a bullet on Abby's Chest,she looks pitifully at Abby,spares her and walks away since she knows Abby has lost everything.Abby picks up her knife rushes towards Ellie back then suddenly Tommy shots her in her eyes quoting "That's for my brother,You sick roided son of a bitch".He falls on Ellie's shoulder and both returned back home safely.
Time moves forward,Ellie grows up and She talks to Joel on his Grave with Dina and Tommy with his Eye patched up and giving ellie the company she deserves and Finally ends with Ellie playing the Guitar in front of all of them,Remembering Joel.The End
the best part is that the last cutscene with joel happens after you let abby go and i feel like most players after watching it were like ""WE SHOULD HAVE KILLED ABBY DAMN IT!!!"
I love this version you’ve put together! I finished my play though and I just decided to believe Abby will eventually die of her wounds from the fight with Elli and the malnourishment + exposure of being tied to that pillar. She got into a boat and sailed away but with 0 supplies and probably losing loads of blood so I don’t feel like it’s too OTT to imagine her dying

When Ellie says “but I would like to try” you can see Joel almost starting to cry and you hear it in his voice because he thinks the bond between Ellie and him will be partly restored but as the player you know what happens to him and that really made me shed a tear

This is how it should have ended would have made more sense and less empty to the point where I didn't even feel the emptiness.
I guess that was the direction of the game but it ended up just being pointless, nothing being accomplished. No payoff, closure. All the pain and suffering of the ALL the people killed amounting to nothing.

This ending is so much better than the original one, sure it's cliche and all but it's much better than the shit wreck that the real ending has. We waited for 7 years and the devs and writer can't write a better story/plot/ending than a youtuber or redditor. Like why did you have to do Ellie and Joel so dirty man?! I was so close to buying this but bad money management meant I'd have to wait a further week. Boy am I glad I didn't. I just finished watching the whole game and it has to be one of the worst Triple A games I've come across. It isn't the story as such, which, in all fairness is pretty shit, but it's more about how much disrespect Naughty Dog has for the fan base for them to think we'd accept this shit. Visually the game is stunning, and the voice acting is top notch, but the plot was as convoluted as my grandmother's underwear, may she rest in peace. I just feel hopeless. I'm looking forward to Ghost of Tshushima and Cyberpunk 2077 but a part of me is now hesitant. Peace out, and don't forget to wash your hands.

Because for real in the original ending only Abby gets a hopeful ending (finding the 200 hundred firefly group) and Ellie ends with a broken spirit and uncertain with what happened to Dina and her baby, with no revenge fulfilled and unable to play the guitar that Joel taught her to. This is the biggest middlefinger to their fans, and the characters we loved in the first game. I really hope this backfires to Neil Trans-lover simpleton cuckmann. As far as I know this game isn’t cannon and is just the biggest most funded stupid fan fiction created in the game industry.

This is a good fan edit ending I’m glad that it wasn’t one of those ppl who keep preaching about how the game is about “the gay agenda”. Ellie’s gay so fucking what it’s not about her sexuality. (12mins of ellie and Gina romance won’t hurt the 10hr gameplay)it’s about Ellies and Joel’s father daughter relationship, and even though Ellie felt betrayed by Joel’s choice she still saw him as family. My only wish was for her to have called him dad at least once in game.
There we go, a far better ending than the "official" canon.

I could say that what was released is nothing but an awful high-budget fanfiction game made to shove politics unto gamers. But for this ending, I say this IS the true and canon ending. Let's say it is the better or golden ending: Joel is still alive, Abby dies in the manner she tries to kill Joel, and Ellie gets an hopeful future.
Another golden ending would be that Ellie woke up from a coma and Joel is there by her side. She tells him of a horrid nightmare world she's in.
I felt nothing but pain when I watched that previous crap... so thank you for finding this better ending in the middle of that pile of trash... xD

I get that Naughty Dog wanted to tell a story about the cycle of revenge from different angles, but I feel like they could have done it much better than they did. I don't understand Joel's character in part 2. I mean, yes, of course, the apocalypse and all the comes with it changes you but how could Joel go from the man he was when he and Ellie met Sam and Henry to trusting Abby just like that? He was sceptical of them, as he should be. He knows better. He knows it's a dangerous world and that you have to be careful about trusting people. I don't think the conflict between him and Ellie could change him so drastically, but then again, losing Ellie for those years definitely affected him.
I wish they would have done something like this: She finds out that Joel has been lying, they don't speak for years, then Abby shows up and almost kills Joel. Ellie hunts her down and gets her revenge. Joel survives, Ellie and Dina raise JJ and she mends her relationship with Joel. The ending we got just feels...unfinished. Joel's dead, Abby lives, Maria leaves Tommy, Dina and JJ leave Ellie...like, what the hell? Dina told Ellie that she was done if Ellie went after Abby, and she still did it, only to let Abby live? It feels so anti-climatic.
If they really had to kill Joel I wish they would have given him a better death and to let him patch up his relationship with Ellie before he died.
Maybe it would have been too good to be true to have both Dina and Joel, but come on...losing both of them?
