@@marcosvaldes8910 Marco, the roof is not a big deal. I love the mid engine platform. That’s why I bought one and traded my 992. After I put it up and down twice it was a piece of cake. It only takes me 15 or 20 seconds to do it no big deal. It’s a true Sportscar, very well and handles like a dream way better than my 992.
@@Scorpio1075 Sharkwerks DOES change out the gear set, lowers 3 gears, 2,3,4 gears. Lightweight flywheel, gear set, sport clutch, limited slip diff, labor, all in for $11-12K. Gear set and limited slip diff made by Guard Transmission, best in the business.
This video showed the pluses and minus of (in my case) a 718 Spyder v a GTS. Saturday, I traded a 993 to (avoid putting miles miles on a classic if you will.) The Spyder would be in the same category I fear so I bought the GTS. Wow! Spyders are unobtainium. 780 miles later, the sound in town is awesome and can't hear anything but the wind on the highway. And I can put miles on it! Thanks!
BlitzkriegRap it’s got more power despite the increased EU emissions laws. Put the 3.8 in a modern Porsche and it’ll be making even less horsepower from the new regulations. So step one if you buy it in America, rip all the emissions crap off. The 4.0 will gain power and you’ll save weight.
Too tall gearing (again), should have at least 450hp and better sound. Very minor changes for a very significant jump in price vs the old one. Was expecting more over the 981 GT4 to make a change worth while.
An OtherGoogUser No they’re not really driving the same. If you look for performance the open top car just isn’t as stiff as the closed GT4, also the amount of downforce vs 0 downforce on the Spyder is a huge advantage.
@@hikingjoe4752You don’t know what you’re talking about. Do you have real track skills? Yeah, I didn’t think so. The Boxster/Spyder were made before the Cayman so the chassis was built with the firewall as an integral part of the structure. In other words it doesn’t need additional stiffness. With your skills it doesn’t matter.
My brother's Porsche is a pile of unreliable cr@p that regularly throws up £2,000+ bills just to keep it on the road, and my cousins Cayenne turbo is no better, however, I'm glad they bought the 6-pot back! 😜
This channel is the fast food of automotive TH-cam channels
The spyder is shockingly pretty with roof down. Heaps better looking than 911 cabriolet.
Loving the Spyder! I think it's one of the best "fun" cars under 100k. Would definitely have it over the GT4.
I have a 981 S and it is absolutely superb!
Really great video. Wish it was longer
Track guy? Then take the gt4
Just wanna enjoy the car with the weather? Well you got the boxster
🙄
A removable hardtop roof Spyder would be perfect.
@@Suldusk Where are you gonna stow a hardtop when driving? Suppose it starts raining when you have the top in your garage? Rubbish...
1:47 I didn't think germans knew what emotions are...
Jk. Looks like a great car
It´s kind of you that you tell us how narrow minded you are.
Just picked up my Spyder on Wednesday 6/12/24….LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Is it everything you thought it would be? Is dealing with the manual roof, that big of a deal?

I bet our friends at Sharkwerks can help us with the exhaust note and gearing
Kinda... the only way to truly fix the gearing is to change the rear end out, and they don't do that.
PLAY_HRD explain more please?? 🤔

Hard choice I would take both

James Tennier nice going 👍 I’ve got 700 miles on my 2018 718 Boxster GTS in just the first week its so delicious !
It's technically not called a Boxster 😂
Awesome review!
I don't know if it`s just me or this new Cayman GT4/Spyder sounds more like a V6 than a flat 6 compared to other flat 6s Porsches.
1:47 LOL that German dude didn't answer the question because the new engine does nothing better.

@@legostarwarsrulez I am looking forward to hearing it without the particle filter. The 3.8 sounded better than this setup.
@@gsthree9534 I have the 981 version of the GT4 and I confirm. The 718 sounds wack compared to the previous one
Great video glad to see Matt back 👍
My Dreams Car Porsche GT3 & GT4 always
Uhhhh hard choice >.< I would have to go with the coupe probably
The particulate filtration system ruins the sound of the exhaust. These sound worse than the turbos
2:13 sounds better than any turbo 718 I’ve heard...
usa versions dont have pff
718 turbo sounds horrible.
Not a Boxster Spyder...it's a 718 Spyder or a roofless GT4
will it come with PDK? and will there be a 718 with pdk and 6 cylinder
Yes, next year I believe.
Manual > PDK
Yes it’s called a 911
Lőrinc Tilki no but that is not 718.
Christopher O'Grady not for lap times
Live your vids
I hate slow drivers had to put my old boy down, that pony still out there, lol. Can't wait for the flrrrrts.

Gt4.
Cayman GT4
Why? They're the same car - they drive exactly the same, so why not have the choice of having the top down?
