Special Porsche plastic I guess
There's 2 metal plates that covers the 2 holes in the chassis for engine maintenance. Over those metal plates are thick heat/fire resistance foam covers. Then it's the carpet. Those intakes probably have a special grommet around them while it's routed through all those layers.

Jakub is honestly a friend I've ALWAYS wished I had!!! Personally because the dude honestly knows what he's talking about and legitimately just enjoys driving and the interaction/connection between a vehicle and it's driver, just like myself - also his pure passion as he's driving and talking about the car CAN'T be faked!! Yuri is equally passionate BUT just different...a friend that I didn't know I wanted, that is UNTIL I witnessed his qualities and his unique love and appreciation for vehicles that he has - l'm commenting after watching the guys' rip around in the NSX TYPE S, so.... glad that you're back and your back's back to 100%, almost, haha!!!
As someone who has gone through back pain countless times, I hope Yuri feels better soon! Wishing him the best.

These huge two side air intakes at the front remind me a lot of the nearly similar ones at the 996 turbo.

I have 2017 NSX and I bow down to how Porsche is just the gold standard on how a race car should be. I would love to own one of these as my daily.

Got to see it with my own eyes back at the LA Autoshow. Closest I'll ever get probably haha . Would love to just ride in these crazy cars, if not drive it.

Amazing job!!! I got to see one and sit in one but didn’t get to drive it so thanks for sharing! I just reviewed a Taycan GTS but it was so lifeless compared to this. I hope we find a way to make them this much fun. Like Jay Leno says, who needs a stereo when your car sounds like this
This is the GT4RS review I needed. Real talk from a car person. No fluff, just the good stuff. Not that I'd ever spend GT4RS money on a car, it's immediately catapulted towards the top of the "if I won the lottery" list as I expected, but needed some re-assurance. Thanks for that! 😄
Also; do we need another category for the visor test - Race Car? Supercar's get a pass... I'd think the hyper track focused race cars should too!
I'm absolutely with you, this thing looks way better than a 911. The Cayman is such a beauty and as this GT4 RS it looks even better.

Love the review, incredible car. BUT ... not having carbon buckets (replacing them with Sport Seats) in a Porsche GT car is a crime. ;)
Depends on the car, track car yes but street car give me the sports seats all day long.
That thing sounds amazing! It makes you want to do really bad things all the time, I would get into a lot of trouble in that car.
I would definitely do bad things in it but I’m sure I wouldn’t get in trouble a lot with it lol. I would definitely equip radar tho for sure.

For any of you that have older boxsters/ caymans you can get a similar sound from your car too. I had a 987 with a PCS innovations cold air intake on it and it had a similar amazing sound. Rumble in low rpm, that insane metallic zing at high rpm, and you can hear the sucking sound at partial throttle or when blipping the throttle. I can post videos if anyone is curious

I drove a 2015 gt3 and it was glorious. I can’t imagine this car.

Same, I drove the same gen GT3 on track and had a tough time thinking how a car could be better. In typical Porsche fashion though, it seems like they outdo themselves every generation.

Have to disagree: the carbon buckets are very comfortable. Have them on 3 cars (981 Spyder, 981 GT4 and 982 GT4 RS). Driven e.g. from south of Spain to Germany - no probs. Comfy and fits like a glove. 👌

He said they are tough to get in and out of. But, once you're in them they are fine.

His issue was getting in and out of them.

3:27 there is an old Porsche gt trick that if you put it in drive, pull both paddles and rev it, it will let you hear all the revs!
Try it out and tag me to see if it worked.

My brother had a new GT-3RS and one of these for club racing and has said the GT-4RS he prefers greatly in regards to racing, it’s made him a much better driving as a non professional and allows you to get much closer to the cars limits safely than a 911 based race car. They both look and sound epic tho!
Yes the inside feels a bit dated, yes, but having had the opportunity of driving the GT4RS around the track I have to agree with the video. You honestly don't care about the center screen resolution because you're not just not interested in that anymore once you get behind the wheel. You have the feeling you're flying a precision fighter jet, that takes all the abuse you can throw at it and begs for more. To me, it's the pinnacle of ICE. Your smile will be bigger than the center screen diameter!
The interior is dated in the perfect way, driver focused cockpit. Has everything you need and nothing more.
Love the engine but what is it like at low revs? Does it deliver much torque at 2-3000rpm? Or is it mostly top end?

I'd definitely take this over a 911... this Cayman makes more sense in the real world and the money I save I'd spend on a nice daily driver hot hatch.
Caymans are incredible daily drivers. Insanely practical, fun to drive and they look amazing. You would have virtually 0 problems daily driving a GT4 (gt4rs probably not a good daily driver but then again, no RS model is a good daily)

The 718 Cayman is outdated on the inside. I wish it got the 992 911's infotainment.
Idkw I love it more than the new one. Although the new display is gorgeous I feel like for a sports car this fits better and will age better due to it already being somewhat outdated. Everyone knows the tech today will seem laggy and slow in the future so why even play that game with a car everyone knows will become a classic? That’s my guess on their thoughts. I LOVE the physical buttons on both our Cayennes I’d take it over the new models imo. Especially since this is a manual that’s mechanical I’d rather have physical buttons. I don’t think it’s a shame really. You can’t say the new gauge looks more track focused than this. It just looks more futuristic and cool, but that’s not the purpose of this car.
I think the display technology is top notch, way better than Tesla for example

I think this looks better than a GT3 too. The GT3 is too bulky, and the GT3 RS is looking to get even bigger. The recent 911 just doesn’t look like a sports car anymore. It looks like a GT car. The GT4 RS is the perfect balance out of the entire Porsche lineup. It looks like the ultimate sports car!
