I hereby renounce American pop. THIS is music. THIS is beauty. This is the single most amazing, haunting, perfect, breathtaking thing I have ever heard. This is why I am not content to stay in America the rest of my life. This is why I must travel. This is why I love music and always will. Eivør Palsdottir, YOU ARE AMAZING!! Keep on singing :)
this is such a beautiful song. she is a fantastic singer. only discovered her tonight. her voice resonates through my very soul... she is astounding at what she does. I am a huge fan after hearing her twice! that range.... that quality.... that voice :)
Our collective soul has been starving for this. This is pure, and clean, and it is truth. I am nearly crying it is so beautiful. Finally, I have found something that I believe, something that I know is me. I suddenly realy that I have been lost for a very long time. My DNA is tingling. I can feel. I can understand. I am taken back to be brought forward, and I have felt better than now. Such a wonderous blessing to us all she is. Thank the gods that she is.
This is just great. I could listen to this all day. One thing that surprised the heck out of me is that I don't speak a word of Faroese, and yet I actually understood quite a bit of the song without looking it up, probably from looking at Scandinavian texts over the years.
Her voice is something I never heard before and yet channels like MTV and rest places were they show us "talented vocalists" there's nobody who can match her.Eivor possess something others doesn't has.Wish places like mtv/vh1 been showing talented vocalists like her..its a shamy this is so underrated
I saw her last time she toured Denmark. One of my most chilling experiences ever! Eivør has a blinding presence! Like being in Valhalla with Freja before your very eyes. Makes me proud to be nordic.
I first saw Eivor a couple of years ago at a star studded Wickham Folk Festival, she so much stood out from the rest, amazing voice and talent, even more beautiful in real life
I've only just discovered the Faroe Islands and now, this magnificent lady,......Bravo! The Internet and TH-cam truly amazes me this way. Wonderful stuff!
Just perfect! I love all the northern folk! And this is so great! I only knew the band Týr from this islands. Thanks for this wonderful contribution to my culture! It goes to favorites!
I find it amazing that truly great performers can convey the emotion even if someone doesn't understand the words. I love her voice. To me it is one of the top 5 female voices producing music today.
Wow, what a performance. She has a strong and beautiful singing voice, and a really cute speaking voice when she says thanks to the audience. Thanks for posting this.
They certainly have what seems to be an unending amount of creativity, originality and deep folk roots to draw on. Everyday I discover something new and awe-inspiring from artists coming from this region. (Always thankful to TH-cam for providing the forum, so that this great Nordic music can reach a global audience)
People should know about her, but it's not about the money. I wish we didn't put such a high price on entertainment and arts. People just need enough for a comfortable living. The importance should be one spreading the music, the message, and the art.
Whoever disliked this...I mean, you basically just admitted you either have no taste, or are just a troll. There is nothing to dislike about this video.
they speak faroese language. faroese is the middle link between icelandic, and the countinetal languages danish, swedish, ect.... native faroese understand basicly evrything of the other languages. and are also able to speak them fluently, with little or no training.
It is her personal touch, but has basis in several forms of cultural music around the world. It reminds me somewhat of Sami Joik also, people who live in Scandinavia by the arctic circle, the reindeer herders.
This is the first exposure to this kind of music, I must say I'm very impressed. I have a feeling I'm going to struggle to listen to much else for some time to come ! Thankyou for the post.
I'm not sure if there are ANY best artists. But I am sure that scandinavian music and art is unique. No wonder, you have this metaphysical emptiness around you. It has to trigger a creation. I am proud of my slavian heritage and culture, but the scandinavian one is something that I feel beneath my skin an several cenimeteres above my head
Thank you for listening to my music! It means the world to me.

It's so nice to see the European tribal people emerge from the darkness. :)
Eivør is one of Nordic best folk musicians ever. I really appreciate her music :)
I don't often cry when having a musical experience. This one does it. So deep. Beautiful.

A siren. That's what she is. At least when she sings like this. I am tremendously touched and impressed.

What a voice! Incredible range and control and yet so primal!

@TheFrecklish Depends. I see the Faroe Islands as scandinavian since they are a part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
Norsk Mysticism at its best!
Oh God it would be an epic thing!!!
fell in love
Tyr should do a concert with her, their music compliments each other well, despite being completely different.
Jaw....on floor
