- US President Joe Biden hosted the leaders of Japan and the Philippines in two back-to-back summits in a show of unity to Beijing. Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the trilateral summit would change the dynamic in the South China Sea and the region. What does deepening cooperation between Taiwan’s neighbors mean for China? What will Beijing do next in response to the defense and economic agreements announced around the summits?

Chinese bots are always saying that Filipinos should not fight China as the Philippines will suffer economically. They say the Philippines should follow what other ASEAN countries are doing- stay silent on China's relentless attempt to steal its neighbors territories and marine resources.
Yet the Philippines, under President Marcos Jr who is courageously and publicly pushing back against China's aggressive expansionism, achieved the highest GDP growth among the ASEAN+3 countries in 2023 and became one of the Top 20 countries with the highest GDP growth last year.
The Philippines is expected to again become the GDP growth leader in the ASEAN region this year. At worst, it would rank 2nd. This is projected to continue in the next 5 years or so.
The Philippines, under Marcos Jr, is proving that China's economic blackmail is an empty threat.
When you are at the bottom any growth can be exponential. I just gave my Filipino Maids a 20% raised. Her pay now is 3x that of the Filipino GDP per capita 😜

The Philippines EEZ and territorial zones are clear, defined and backed by UNCLOS.. theres nothing to dispute and the Philippines dont need to ask permission to china on what and how it wants to do or use their part of the seas and islands. The Ph only wants to protect their part of the seas.. not 98 percent of it as some delusional party does. Militarily speaking, China is an SS rank nation and PH is a D rank nation with C rank potential. But here is the thing, China is trying to fight an SSS rank nation (USA), an S rank nation (India) and a couple of A rank nations (Japan, UK), along with numerous B-ranks, C-ranks and D-ranks. I saw recently on X (aka: Twitter) that mainland Chinese Students have suddendly increased its presence in the northern province of Tugegarao where one of the EDCA sites is located. If this is true, the Philippine Military Authorities should investigate why this surge of mainland chinese in that particular area. If they have over extended their stay in the country, then they need to be deported. Their sudden presence in that area where no mainland Chinese seems interested to visit before is of great concern. Their movements needs to be monitored by the authorities.

I think the Philippine government should either build a permanent defensive structure on the shoal or request assistance from the US Navy or Japan to replace the aging and decrepit Sierra Madre with a modern vessel with a heliport for resupply missions, as well as anti-aircraft guns, surface-to-air and anti-ship missiles.

There have been too many talks about Taiwan and the Philippines. However, I still don't have any clue if the war breaks, whether Taiwan and the Philippines will wait until the PLA invades their land or they will invade China's mainland.
