Since the Chinese aggression is uncontrollable, I think it us right for Taiwan and the Philippines to have Military cooperation and defense agreements. Also, if Taiwan and Philippines will work hand-in-hand to boost each other's economy most specifically in electronics, robotics and chips production then that would be a great start to deter Chinese domination in the Pacific. China is no longer a friendly nation. What they do is the opposite of what they are saying during the bilateral meetings.

This is when the old Asian proverb, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, applies so these two neighbouring countries should help and support each other. Philippines should support Taiwan's aim to be free from communist China so as Taiwan help the Philippines on stabilising a free and open West Philippines Sea. The Philippines had been occupied by different superpowers over the centuries and first and foremost understand how suppression hits their nation badly and how independence means big time. Taiwan is a democracy that should have it's UN seat back in the plenary again, that is right and it is humanly to allow Taiwan to be on it's own away from the imperialist Communist of China. They have their own voice.

Philippine Government won’t do it. Recognize Taiwan means ending diplomatic relations with China.

    • @rainnelmaclang4803

The Taiwanese government itself is very careful about its statements about self-rule vs. outright declaration of independence.
The Philippines will not recognize Taiwan as an independent country. It recognizes the One-China Policy. Declaring support for Taiwan's independence is equivalent to declaring war on mainland China. Even the USA won't do it.

The Philippines should speed up modernization of defense. At least it would make an ivasion or any military operation by an enemy very costly. But of course a diplomatic resolution is a key.

Duterte tried to play both sides by pretending to be "neutral" like Switzerland or India. But the Philippines is not a nuclear power like India, nor a fortress like Switzerland. All Duterte did was isolate the Philippines and made her vulnerable to Chinese aggression.
