    That "thank you...thank you.." after finding the screw is one of the most genuine thank yous a person can express or hear. Coleman needs to throw a magnet stick into the wrench kit 😂

    Lol Wild Piglets, cool. I bought 2 BT200x’s. HD colors Orange & black with white fenders that I stickered Hardly Davidson. Stock 20 mph via GPS on flat road with 220 pound rider. Did throttle screw went 25 mph. Drilled throttle arm hole out on far edge & moved spring 32 mph.
    Then governor zip tie, $20 stock carb replacement with .038 jet, cheap header muffler & cone filter, 38 mph but seems like clutch slip revved TOO high.
    So I bought the CVT IE the best mod. Accelerates better, drops rpms, and ran 42 mph on flat road. The only expensive mod but worth it.
    Then added digital tach, LED tail light, 8 degree timing key, 9 tooth front sprocket, 18 lb valve springs IE all cheap mods. Runs 45 mph on flat road at 4,800 rpms & 48 mph down a grade at 5,200 rpms. Stock cam / motor has now made max power but it sounds and feels solid & reliable likely in part due to valve springs.
    The stock 10 tooth front sprocket plus a 60 tooth rear sprocket (requires chain) to lower gearing a little more should pick up a little more acceleration and maybe 2 mph but at a lil more rpm IE likely max safe rpm (with 18 lb springs) for stock cast rod & fly wheel.
    Just my experience & thoughts. Have fun that’s what mini bikes are for. And yeah 35 cruising 45 top speed fast enough on these things. Front brakes being next mod.

    • @Deucealive75
      @Deucealive75 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      38 MPH...Was this with the stock gearing and valve springs? That would be pretty high RPM. The stock springs should be good to at least 5400. But at 38 MPH you would have been close to 7K RPM. Wow.
      But I agree the CVT is hands down a must for these Coleman 200's. All you really need is a stage 1 kit and a CVT. Any governor manipulation things like zip ties and governor removal are not even necessary.

    • @vernlochtefeld1626
      @vernlochtefeld1626 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If stock they govern around 3,600 as I’ve read and people have gotten 33 mph with the stock epa carb, governor & springs which I’ve read then I doubt 38 mph (stock sprockets) is 7k. Doubt the online mini bike calculator would show that either but as mentioned it was spinning hard so I invested in the CVT.
      I was told by GPS that the weak stock springs are only good to 5k. With 9/50 sprockets (5.55-1 final drive ratio) I see 4800 on a flat & 5200 down a small grade. I plan to use 10/60 sprockets for 6.00-1. That will get me more acceleration plus maybe 2 mph on a flat at around 5,000 rpm and what 5400/5500 down a hill. By then I will really feel the springs were cheap insurance for only a few bucks & my time.
      Haven’t searched for a good mini bike forum yet. Do you know of any?

    • @Deucealive75
      @Deucealive75 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vernlochtefeld1626 GPS saying that they are only good to 5K are just covering themselves and they are in the business to sell as many 18 lb springs as possible. People regularly run these bikes 30-32 mph on stock springs. That's 5500+ RPM with stock gearing. My CL1 original cam calls for a target (max) RPM of 5800, with stock springs. Yeah you can use 18 lb springs, it's just that I wouldn't because I will not be spending any time in between 5500 and 7K RPM.
      My engine won't see 5800 but 5500 would be nice. Probably more like 5200 max. I'm running a mainly stock engine with 9/60 tooth on my 200U. I never even had the bike at top speed but have gotten 4500 RPM. That was around 26 or 27 MPH. I have a tach that can recall max RPM after the ride is over. When I got that RPM it sounded like the belt was just starting to shift when I backed off the throttle.
      The speed calcs do say 7000 RPM makes 39 MPH. You have to be sure to use 19 inch tire and 10/1 gearing. At one point someone did the math and figured 181.7 RPM for every 1 mph on these Colemans, with the stock jackshaft and tires.
      A pretty good mini bike forum I look at is OldMiniBikes dot com

    That is a pretty simple mod but if you want get some real increase in speed with out spending a lot of money or time is to remove the Jack shaft assembly then you take and flip the centrifugal clutch around then you add a few more links to the drive chain and it went from a speed of twenty mph to a little over 60 mph!!! O by the way I did have to put a bolt and washer in the end of the shaft to keep the clutch from coming off

    I installed a torque converter on my sons mini bike over the weekend with a predator 212. Thing rips now. I'd prefer a torque converter over a centrifugal clutch. Much more power and gives you plenty of power to climb hills. He has the exact model as you do. I painted it blue and put nice blue handle grips on their with a high performance throttle housing. Putting other mods on it this week. But I don't plan on removing the governor. It'll go plenty fast as is.

  • @claytonking101
    @claytonking101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I believe that you may want to review the zip tie portion once again. If done as instructed in the video (throttle wide open) the governor still fully engages.
    If the zip tie were to be applied when the spring was not stretched (throttle closed) it would keep the governor arm from activating.
    Otherwise a great video and I'm loving this channel! Your vids are very entertaining.

      He lost me when he suggested that fully removing the governor, installing a safer billet rod and racing flywheel is "full retard" while zip tying the governor was retaining reliability. Insane.

    I did this and it worked. I felt the engine heated up alot. Anything I can do to stop that? I haven't done an exhaust or put the holes in the air filter cover.

    These two mods for more engine RPM is a BAD idea on a stock engine! My grandson bought a used CT200U-EX that was not running as it had no spark. When I got into it, I found these two mods were don't, causing the engine to increase its rated RPM, which inturn, caused the ignition magnet that was glued on, to come off of the flywheel. When this happened, the ignition coil and its mounting posts on the engine, destroyed! Now, there is no way to mount a replacement coil! Basically now, the engine is scrap because of this mod on a crappy flywheel design!

    • @Deucealive75
      @Deucealive75 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure it's a bad idea but people just want more speed without spending the money and taking the time to do it right. 6000 RPM just to do 32-33 MPH is pretty funny.
      There's nothing wrong with the flywheel design and will never break at the 3600 RPM these engines were designed to run.
