I just used your method on a big block Chevy in an old C6000 GMC it's been sitting for at least 10 years I don't know how long the engine was locked up I haven't started it in I can't remember when I put in the Sea Foam and diesel fuel last Friday and today which is 7 days later the engine spins by hand thanks it worked great!
Hey hope you see this but I just finished my engine swap into my new body same models but I was running it on water just to start it and forgot to refill it with coolant and went 90mph like two weeks after the swap and the engine siezed up on the freeway do you think this would work ? Also will it even be drivable if the engine brakes free it's a 5sfe engine 2.2 1991 Celica just wondering thanks also I had oil at the low meter so maybe it was that instead of running on water idk what do you think?
MAN! DUDE! Thanks for the refresher course! When I put the diesel in it yesterday, and went to put the weight on it this morning, and hazah! It broke loose before I could let the weight all the way down. Thanks again
Just wanted to say thank you. I have a 1973 GMC Jimmy that has been sitting for 24 years it was frozen solid I found your channel and it took about 2 weeks but finally broke free only was able to get a half revolution still soaking hopefully in about a week I will try again. Just an update. The motor finally broke free. I’m now working on getting it running again. Thank you !
Thanks man I have an engine that would rotate but only about one revolution on the crank after it would stop now thanks to your confirmation I’m going to pour some diesel and marvel mystery oil and hope for the best!!!
Adding the weight to the bar makes so much sense, as it will let the engine slowly break loose on it's own. Most of us have tried to force an engine to break loose with the starter or breaker bar, which often does more damage to the engine, especially if there are underlying issues which are not known....quite often the reason the vehicle was sitting for many years in the first place.
Before putting the spark plugs back in but after adding new oil and whatever lubricants you are using crank it for several revolutions. Maybe the oil pressure will come up even! Great info on this video thank you!
This was one of the best and simplest explanations I have seen. I have a 1952 dodge with a flathead six that is froze solid. I will try this. Good Job.
When I come across a situation like that transmission I'll just take a cut off wheel and a grinder and cut a small slot in the bottom of the thing to access the flex plate. It wouldn't take much of a slot to do it and you can probably just drill some little holes and run a tap in them. That will allow you to cut a piece of an old road sign or body metal or something to cover the slot and just bolt that over it. It's not going to weaken it in any significant way and you can get at the teeth on the fly wheel to bar them over.
I've heard of this tip before but never saw it! I'm looking at buying an older Dodge charger that has a potentially seized engine. I'm hoping I'll have the same luck you did.
@anthonyb6639 some people use the term seized or frozen if they can't turn it by hand. That doesn't necessarily mean the engine is garbage. Just use the method in this video and BE PATIENT! My buddy and I had to let the cylinders soak on his charger for about three days. It did work, so I'm hopeful for you my friend. Please let me know how it goes!

Chevy has a dustpan, really easy access to the flex plate. Also could find something jammed into the flywheel that could also prevent the engine from turning; even after pre soaking the engine.
I'm currently working on my 96 lt1 Corvette that has been sitting up for a few years , thanks for this video ,I'm gonna take my time with it and try this ,it has 90 k on it
50/50 Acetone and ATF with an ounce or two of Alcohol works great. Use a 3/8” fuel line hose going into a 5/16” steel fuel line into cylinder to prevent spillage.
With an engine sitting for that long of a time, I would prime the oil pump and pump oil through the entire system so you don't have lifters hammering (along with rods, etc). Easy enough to do in an old vehicle like that by pulling the distributor and use a drill to manually turn the oil pump shaft. It has been a long time since I owned a Ford FE big block like that, so I don't remember what hex size the oil pump shaft is.
I have done many Ford's like that and it won't hurt a thing to drill a hole in bellhousing with a small holesaw so You can get a prybar on teeth and turn flywheel that way. Has worked for me😊
My great granfathers 1965 murcury m100 with a ford 300, the truck is completely rotten, but ive been soaking the pistona since april, got the engine trmoved yesterday, and it still wont crank over, even with thr head off.
Just a thought. Since you had removed the breaker bar to try turning it with the fan, why not just use the breaker bar, without the cheater and alternator attached, to turn the engine? Lots more torque available than using the fan.
Hey I’m actually about to try this on my car and I know nothing about cars lol I was just wondering where exactly do I pour the diesel once the spark plugs are removed?
Anybody know specifically how long it takes for the fluids to saturate and break down? I'm on a tight schedule and I don't have much time to wait on my truck. 305 Small Block if anyone's intrested.

My engine was frozen when i first bought it, was sitting for about 2 weeks at the time, since a buddy of mine owns a tow yard i know how long it was sitting. Me nd my friend were able to move the belt enough for it to loosen up. Didnt stay on for long since the guy was doing donuts, hit a pole and crushed the gas tank. Got it back running nd fixed the issues including the starter bolts being so loose it grinded. Changed my thermostat but these 82 mustangs are a pain in the ass for that, so it would leak and overheat, always turned it off before it got too hot. Ive had it sitting for about 5+ years since, and i started working on it again and the engine is frozen once more, havent run it but i did a full maintenance,, spark plugs/wires oil/filter nd used royal purple at that once i put a new gas tank and fuel sender in. But do u think the overheating would damage it enough to seize the engine even if it was minor nd never over an extended period of time? The oil/plugs/filter have about .2 miles on it since i didn't want to drive it and overheat it. Can the overheating be an issue?
Got a 66 mustang that seized up after about a year of sitting, diesel in the cylinders now with the alternator on the breaker bar! Hopefully this works…
Low oil seize usually means catastrophic bearing damage. The type of seize I am addressing here is “dry seize” from sitting a long time. But! Worth a shot
