I was going to conduct a cylinder leak down test on my car and wanted to manually turn the crank for tdc. Is tehre any risk of throwing the timing off or anyting when I do this?
I’m in deep water I was trying to remove my steering pump pulley and the pulley nut got stuck in the steering pump and the belt was still on and then I accidentally cranked my motor backwards like 2 or 3 inches what do I do? I really need help and when I start my car it makes a loud deep noise like it has an exhaust leak and sounds terrible 😔
Okay so here’s what happened on mine I turned over the motor to add some camshafts locks. They seated properly but I wasn’t on TDC so I pulled the timing chain off and turned the motor to set it at tdc. Now it moved but after half a turn it gets hard and won’t turn anymore
Wow I'm glad I read this comment! I couldn't turn my harmonic balancer so I was beginning to believe my engine was shot but I never thought to check if it was in neutral... it wasnt😂
If you suspect that you have water sucked in through the intake which ended up in the cylinders. This will help expunge any water. As he said in the video, water will not compress so it can bend a piston rod or blow rings out
I watched your video again and this time I got the idea to put the car on neutral and no brakes or hand brake on , although its automatic but lets see.
What happens if I don’t take the serpentine belt off and still try to turn it over?…. Never mind you explained that
What if your harmonic balancer is not held on by a center bolt?
Should u be able to turn both ways smoothly
On a 4 cycle aire cooled engine, should you hear any gurgling sounds? Like oil being sucked up through a straw?
What if it won’t turn all the way ?
I changed timing belt now hormanic polly cannot rotate clockwise, I didn't start car , ford ecosport 2016 automatic, petrol

Nope. Just don't turn it counterclockwise. Depends on some engine could skip timing teeth
How do you know when to stop turning
Is it safe to turn the crankshaft on new modern suv? I'm trying to clean the carbon build-up on the valve to open up the valve.
Yep! Thanks for watching!

Did u figure out if it was damaged?
We should put the truck in neutral to rotate the engine, right?
Correct. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros thanks, you are welcome!😊

Hi boss am asking what can lead the engine to shake wose while driving
I would check the engine mounts and isolators. Thanks for watching!
Next time i go to pull A parts going to try this.

Do u remove the plugs prior to this

So yes
He didn't but he said if you do it should be super easy to spin the engine
Will rotating it in reverse be bad for the engine?
In some engines. Yes. But always turn it clockwise
I completed this test on a manual transmission and can't remember if I was in neutral, an I in trouble?
.... It positively was in neutral It had to be there's no way to turn it with it in gear
Does the wheels have to lifted of the gorund?
No they don't, it doesn't matter
@@tonydixon2684should I take the belt off first?
Did you use to do pc component reviews? I swear I use to watch you back in the day.
Hmmmm could be! Thanks for watching!

Would a hodna crv 2005 need to rotate clockwise or counter clockwise?? Honestly confused is it supposed to be able to spin on btoh directions???
Usually it's clockwise. Thanks for watching!
Its not turning
Then you might have a locked up engine or accessory if you didn't take the belt off. Thanks for watching!
