@Julian Baxter Don't take the troll bait, my friend. He's not even doing a good job of critiquing the song, let alone recognizing other's opinions. That said, for some reason, a lot of NIN fans didn't seem to catch onto this song, along with most of Trent's "Shoegaze-esque" stuff. In the tours immediately following this record, he played this song most nights, and I was always excited to hear it, but I could feel the crowd around me kind of politely 'deflate' and wait for the next thrasher. It's like a certain segment of the audience wants him to continually recreate "Broken" or "March of the Pigs", even as a grown-ass man. Remember how poorly his cover of "Zoo Station" was received? I fucking LOVE that cover!
Hands down, my favorite band of all time... my favorite song of all time... and my favorite outro of all time. An absolute masterpiece in every conceivable way possible.
Every single sound on this performance is perfect. Justin's fat bass and chorus, Robin (plus his wonderful guitar tone), whatever Trent does specially at 3:32, the atmosphere that Alessandro creates and of course the always present Josh Freese.
Robin coming back in this was was just so awesome, if you play in bands and youve been through a bunch of stuff, you know just how sharp everyone here is right now. These dudes are so fucking seasoned and sharp right now and they havnt even toured with this song yet.
Simple song, and yet so powerful. When the 2nd chorus comes, when all the instruments settled in the song, something is happening. And also when all is fading out at the end, you fell they control everything. Professional and so beautiful at the same time, this is Nine Inch Nails.
They host a master class on style and professionalism. And every tour the release "how to" videos as well. lol has any band released as many hours of live performances as they have?
The best part of this song, when the guitar comes in and walks all over everything, the chord progression is all over the place. Masterfully so. I will get it with one or two more listens, I promise.
Guys, trent is on the partnership program on youtube. Since he is so amazing, rate ALL of his videos, 5 stars... favorite them all, he makes money off of this. Take this as a thankyou for all the entertaining videos, and the free "The Slip" album. Love you trent
Somewhere 12 years ago, when this song opened my soul, I thought - it perfectly reflects my soul. Now, 12 years later, I understand. It perfectly reflects a significant part of the life of most of us. Sometimes, you just need to hear the inner voice. And to understand that harmony, at least with oneself, is more important than anything else. You can't control yourself, you can't control anything.
Basically, yeah. Some NIN fans are stuck in the past while others move along with NIN into the future. I love Closer and The Downward Spiral as a whole, it was what made me love NIN to begin with, but I love all Trent's other work too.
While I agree that The Slip is criminally underrated, I have to admit that the live versions of these songs are WAY better than the album versions. That's not to say the album versions are bad, though.
damn all the songs on this DVD sound SO good loud in my headphones or on good speakers... my neighbors might hate it, but then again they might love it... either way, they stay silent hahaha
And the beauty of it is that it's very minimalistic as well and every beat has its place but isn't overbaring, which was the case a bit on older NIN material which I love of course, but sometimes feels a bit crowded... if you see what I mean.
I'm so inspired right now. Trent makes it looks so easy to right a song and for him it must be. I don't know anyone who does as much music as he does. Truly amazing. Thanks for all these videos you guys are posting.
I did not know this was Josh Freese until someone made a video of his chops. Great resume great drummer; I am glad that the fundamentals are what helps a band survive. Slow and steady. Additionally, I do like the synth drums as a good double bass workout.
i would buy it for sure. love nin, love radiohead. the sound alone would be interesting enough to give it a listen to, as both have different backgrounds and styles of music. so i would get it just to hear what kind of animal they could create from their own perspectives. and touring? oh god don't even get me started...
@@levadura7 bullshit. Dillon & Freese could have played The Perfect Drug in their sleep. It was never too difficult, Trent just doesn’t care for the song. It was rehearsed but he wasn’t feeling the ending live so he gave up on it until recent years.
Love all there rehearsals stuff they do. They always sound better than the studio version of the song. You can feel Trents Passion more so in the Music in the rehearsals than you do in the studio
Introduced my kids to NIN at an early age, youngest is now 17 and this is currently her favourite song.
What a cool dad
@@potatohead5986 I'm her mum 😊
@Corvus303 that's even more awesome
This performance is so goddamn perfect in all possible ways.
instablaster...
So is this comment.
this mix is better than the album version. i can totally hear the singing better in this one. killer song
yeah but the lalalala are not good, and some guitars are weird.
@@moliver_xxii your 'lalalala's' are not good. 🤘🏻
@@Fiveash-Art i do suck.
@@moliver_xxii 😂 ... just work on your 'la la la's' and I'm sure you'll get better.
that outro... the modular texture + the guitar echoes... incredible.
Incredibly shitty and even though I love Cortini, this song is just garbage...
Just the fact that the sound comes out of a Buchla doesn't automatically make it good.
TheLT: I respect your opinion, but encourage that you respect others'.

@@theeltea I have no idea what a "Buchla" is but that outro synth sounds awesome!
This is an incredible performance. Trent Reznor and his band are at the pinnacle of innovation and self-reinvention.
Right? All these years later and they're still making damn good music, unbelievable.
Agreed!!
I love it when Trent says; "now you just slowly fade away" and the camera gets out of focus. Nice touch!
I have been playing the Drums since I was 9 years old, And watching NIN since I was 11! I LOVE this band, And Mr.Reznor is my Idol.
Right after Trent goes 1-2-3 and that dope guitar riff comes in, I'm just absorbed in it. Cool song.
The guy always gets me going with "ayye!" In the beginning of his live performances
Hands down, my favorite band of all time... my favorite song of all time... and my favorite outro of all time. An absolute masterpiece in every conceivable way possible.
I hope there's music in the next life

This is one of my favourite NIN songs. A highlight on the album.
Best rehearsals ever. This has to be the 30th time i've watched these videos.
This band has aged like a fine wine! Never get tired of listening to them.
Gah been listening to NIN since the early 90s.... Still listening in 2024! Trent baby, do ittttt
still gives me chills. I think it's the watching everything happen live that gets me.
I always end up coming back to this video, masterpiece!
lalalalalalalalalah..... lalalalalalalah....
Best part, for sure.
Not sure if it's good or not but it reminds me of a dog growling with their mouth being moved
This is so much better than the album version. The real drums are great.

One of my favs !!! I love see Trent Reznor in scene.... is such a powerful, strong and magical man !!! ❤❤😍😍👅👅👅👅
Great EP.
End so epic that I melted.
I am suprised how spot on this is. Excellent.

Criminally underrated.
Always.been one of the best since 1989.
watched this 10 times in a row already. even gets more beautiful with each play.
this music made me happy, it's a lot of fun to find different versions years later

The outro with the guitar trio part is so fucking excellent. It has so much power but is elegantly so. I miss this era of NIN, it was a lot of fun!
This song is on another level
This is a masterpiece from start to finish. Perfect.

i love this performance. the ending is so magnificant!
Flawless as always
My dad introduced me to NIN at a young age when With Teeth came out, I really feel like Trent is so ahead of his time even to this day.
I think I would actually pay for a digital single of this.
this is such an amazing performance of an awesome song. i like the band selection.
I love the bassist bobbing his head with the afro... 😁
Robin Fuckin Finck
Missing Chris Vrenna ;)
Uhoooooooooooooooly shit i'm only now getting into the slip why didn't i do this earlier? THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Why is the slip so unpopular?
Cause people suck!
People are stuck in Closer

So good 👍 take me back to LITS tour
my favorite part is when they all stop playing for a sec and let the drum machine go

Lo mejor que escuché en muchísimo tiempo
Still my favorite song.🎸😎
The reason NIN is one of the best headliners ever
great way to start the morning
1:55 when Trent adds that final guitar layer. That's some classic NIN right there
Very good

i lov eyou robin
yr syncronicities
Josh is the best drummer NIN has ever had.
with all the drummers around only with ilan rubin NIN could play the perfect drug
Ilan !!
Remember those few times David Grohl played with Trent? That counts
He is the go to studio boy genius. If he can make Gwen Stefani & Trent digestable.....gold stars to him.

True that. This is the best version.
I love it! Damn Trent just keeps making great songs and even though his music evolves its always NIN..... 👽
