- OM is a three-piece experimental doom metal band hailing from San Francisco, California. Formed in 2003 by the rhythm section of Sleep, the group features Al Cisneros, Emil Amos, and Tyler Trotter. Together, they draw from a host of other influences-including psychedelic rock, Middle Eastern folk, dub, reggae, and post-rock-and incorporate musical structures similar to Tibetan, Byzantine, and Ethiopian chanting. Their very name derives from the Hindu concept of Om, referring to the natural vibration of the universe.
This project is supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Program in Public Understanding of Science and Technology, bridging the two cultures of science and the arts.

your're the hero of the day! Thank you.
I'd leave a like, but it's at 69
So ....
✌️💚🍉
It's the same set list they've been playing for like 12 years now. I guess they don't want to play anything that Hakius was a part of. What a shame.
That bass tone is the sonic definition of THICC.
It's thick but there's also a lot of mids-treble somehow. that's why it's so good. It's very full-frequency
For real. That bass tone has the fattest ass I've ever heard....
As a PhD scientist/ engineer, I love that this concert was supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Program in Public Understanding of Science and Technology.

I'm dying for that new album you promised, Al!
Dude I know! He said that at our show too haha. I was surprised.
@@jacksonfritts2988yeah like almost two years ago
@@danwhitehurst6293 He’s a great musician who takes his time….a lot of time
@@jacksonfritts2988 he said the album was being mixed in October of 2022 I wonder if there’s other issues holding up releasing it at least it’s not a tool album wait time
Last ten minutes of this show seems a new track or maybe a Little jam. Who knows?
OM in 1080p it's not something that I was expecting
it is not trve kvlt
Al Cisneros "The Buda of Doom"
Thanks for sharing this great record!
A drummer that understands that the china doesn't have to be hit as hard as fucking possible...
na dude if you would've seen this live you would know, Emils hands were bleeding he was adjusting tape in between songs, on his fingers. He blew me away I've never seen a drummer play so hard and heavy handed actually. It punctuated the slow nature of this music in a way that I never really could've expected.
@@calebbernstein5163That sounds fucking awesome. There's really no way to get the full sonic effect of OM through a video in youtube, so i can only imagine how good they actually sound live.
I have played this video 6 times in the last 12 hours on massive floor standing speakers with the volume cranked to 11 to fully appreciate this sonic masterpiece. Apologies to thy neighbors. Thank you OM.
Thats the only proper way to listen to Om! hell yeah dude.
"Thy" neighbors? Dude, talk to your own neighbors..this has nothing to do with us even if we do the same. Respectfully a touch grass moment dude
I'm coming over and I'm bringing an offering.

So great to see such a diverse audience. I thought OM only appealed to my ass, someone in his 40s. Still the kings of the realms of trippy depths!
I'm 25, been listening to Om since I was 13.. no worries friend!
@@highseervehk Triumphant beam released.
I arrived at the venue hours before the show even started and was allowed in as an art spectator for the photography displays, we hung around in the gallery areas, place was empty for hours and we got to meet Al upstairs in the green room! Awesome night. Will never forget it, thanks OM.
How was Al? You never hear anything about him. Hope he’s good.
@@roboriffer3424 he was still and chill, it was pre show so he was taking it easy. A night i'll never forget! Just a few short months before COVIID kicked off.. This was December 2019! Couldn't believe we visited the city and didn't get COVIID at that time hahaha
28 min of mystic experience
OM ❤
Chris Hakius hasn't been in the band for years, the current drummer is Emil Amos (also known for the band Grails)
Emil Amos has many great conversations on the Duncan Trussell Family Hour podcast.
He really is missed. He was so subtle.. His playing wasn't busy at all, just perfectly placed notes everywhere..
@@matheuskerr9222 I disagree. I much prefer Emil: he has really tasty feel and exceptional grooves. Chris is much more streamlined
@@matheuskerr9222 Emil is a much much better fill
Was just about to comment this myself but knew someone else probably caught that
Listening to Om is a spiritual experience and every one of those audience members hypnotically nodding their heads to the beat are truth seekers. They've taken a moment to break away from the overwhelming mainstream society of today and found mental/spiritual refuge in that venue that evening.
I agree and I also think we visit the same dispensary ;-)
i agree :) especially the fact that OM's music is mostly instrumental, you dont feel overwhelmed by the bs lyrics of most mainstream music. its more a personal spiritual vibrational journey :)
vibes were high
Amen.
I was at this show. Killer. The past few years they've been playing some songs more slowly, particularly Thebes that night. Still so good. Incidentally, when OM finished, my wife and I caught the end of the Morbid Angel/Incantation show that was down the street, which was also killer
Sunn 0))) in The Tennessee Caverns and Om at Amoeba with Chris drumming both shows ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ honorable mention : EARTH on KEXP
When was this show? I don’t see any shows online

Incantation is so fucking good
Crowd looks so happy to witness this, such a masterful performance
Never heard Om sound so good in a live recording, especially Al's vocals. Thanks!
The best live recording of OM in all TH-cam. Thank you! Please release every other available second of this
I disagree the session with Al and Chris tripping BALLS at Amoeba Records is althooooooough times change !
@@hanskloss1331yeah that one is absolutely nuts. OM will never quite be like how it was with Chris on drums. Still very good stuff they do now too.
was front row on the rail for this entire set, insane experience
Finally some high quality Om live footage!
Man, this is BY FAR the best live version of Gethsemane. It always sounds kinda sloppy live, but here Al nailed the execution, the tone. Damn. Perfect!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL!
That slowed version of State of Non Return…filthy! 🙏
Starts with Advaitic Songs, instant like!
Love how they slow State of no Return each time they return to the hook...

It somehow feels like this sound has carved grooves into my brain! Impressive!🖤
More than music, this is therapy...
Nah that’s just what music is. Music bridges the physical and spiritual realms when it hits right.
What a band. What an amazing drummer.
Time to play this again and again and again. Along with the Amoeba recording.
Amoeba is their "live" Swan Song
this is my shit. ive been falling to sleep to Om and Sunn o))) for years and now i can only listen for...five...minutes before.....*zzzzz*
I been listening to them for a while now, but never checked a Live set of theirs who knows why . . . . . Boy was I missing out! 👏👏👏
Missing out big time, check live at amoebe and get your mind blown. Rays from the sun to the shrinebuilder, OM's best (live) song
It's only been a couple years but i hope they tour next year, along with the new album. Om is one of those bands were i needed to own absolutely everything they released including live and bootlegs
I'd like to give this more than one thumb. Maybe a million thumbs
We have to admit, this is aesthestically beautiful as f***.
The keyboards add so much! This is dope!
the keyboards make Om a completely different band I saw Al and Chris years ago and the sound (especially coming out of the old GREEN amps) was bone crushing and way more primitive things change and that's ok this is good but IMO not great
1min in and its epic, nice recording. thanks
this is absolutely bloody fantastic. man i need to see them live.
Al is starting to look like a character in a Hesse novel....love it
Fucking awesome
Been watched 10 times in one day
Saw them in 2019 in Germany and it was one of the best live performances I‘ve seen so far!
🤘🏻🤘🤘🏾🤘🏿👽✨
God I fucking love this band
Goosebumps! this is way beyond next level perfection!
God, Thank for that live !
No one since long time, let's go for new looping live for many years
This is exactly what my heart needed. Thanks for recording
this is a worship of rhythm in such a rarely heard pure form, all the love
I was at this show and glad to be able to see it again. ❤️ Thank you!
same here!
HOLY MOUNTAIN!
prob the best sound al has ever had, his green amps were great. but this new version is so full and thick.
So bummed they cancelled the European tour back in 2023. Was supposed to see them with my brother in Liverpool UK. Hopefully thry come soon

I was supposed to be at this show. It would have been my first time seeing OM live but unfortunately I got pneumonia and I couldn't make it. Bummed is a f'n understatement.
Glad part of it was recorded!
That must have seriously sucked. They came to OKC less than a year before I became aware of them; now I too look for the opportunity to see them.
I hope you have the chance again, soon. 🙏🏽
@@DeathMountainDragonaut we can only hope. I'm guessing once the new record drops they'll announce a tour
I'm really sorry for that, bro. I hope you recover soon and I hope that you get the chance to see Om live.

Good to see you!
They cancelled because of Covid and didn’t get to see them. This is what I missed
Come to Brazil!!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
gods of deep timing
Nice to see the old man again! in fact he seems to be way much more alert and in the now than on the occasions i have seen him years ago. OM and Sleep were my great heroes but let's be honest - the last recording this guy did was in 2012 and when he comes on stage (very rare these days) he only plays the classic stuff, that i've heard really enough times now :D
Credit where it's due, loads of artists never make ONE perfect album. If he never writes another thing, I'm happy with "Adviatic". Following that might be tough. Bolt Thrower just stopped after "Those Once Loyal".
From their Wiki page: "Bolt Thrower announced that, as they were satisfied with the Those Once Loyal album, they would be indefinitely postponing the recording of another LP. The band stated that their goal was always to stop after releasing "the perfect Bolt Thrower album".
That said, I wish they'd tried again, and I hope Al will as well.
He recorded "The Sciences" with Sleep which was released in 2018 and was on tour afterwards
Only plays the classic stuff? Do you want him to come on stage and play unreleased songs, this concert has songs from the most recent album...? Sleep has released a whole album - The Sciences - in 2018, as well as singles in 2018 and 2016. Al has said a new Om album has been recorded already (to be fair he's been saying that since at least late 2022 when I saw them last).
Om also released two songs (on a single) in 2023 Gabal Barkal and Version....
@@X85283 Wow. I wasn't aware that he was holding out on us. :\
Pink Floyd was playing some of "Animals" live WELL before they recorded the album, so "do (I) want him to come on stage and play unreleased songs?" Uh... yeah. That'd be great, thanks. It's only been TWELVE YEARS. :p
@@FonceFalooda2 Om also released two songs on a 45 single in 2023.... Gebel Barkal / Version
damn love this...hand me my basss!
