Great video! Hi from Australia! Love my 2023 (pre eyesight) BRZ. These cars are really only appreciated by ppl who are into driving. Its the driving experience that is the essence of the car. Only real gripes are the indicators and road noise on some surfaces. I swapped out the supplied spare tyre for a previous model space saver which gives me a flat floor, prefect for overnight bags etc. Mines a bit peppier being supercharged (around 300 rwhp). These are are the last of a breed, pure unadulterated FUN!
Amazing value for what you get. I love my blue collar Porsche. The negatives are mere annoyances that you adjust to during ownership. 1 turn signals 2 have to use middle cup holders for phone 3 steering wheel controls for stereo should be on right side nearer infotainment and gauge controls on left side of steering wheel. 4 jerky when cold but smoother once warm. 5 I prefer oil pressure and temperature gauges
Not having a spot for my phone and keys was my biggest annoyance, until I got a seat gap filler. Highly recommend that if looking for a simple inexpensive way to solve that problem. Once you get familiar with the throttle mapping on this car so you can get those smooth shifts , which can take some time, this thing is a blast to drive.
No car is perfect, but I certainly love my BRZ. Even compared to older 911s, I prefer the BRZ cabin and instrumentation. Thankfully living in the south, my state allows me to tint the rear window to 27%. With that level of tint I find the auto-dimming mirror just perfect. I do have a problem with where to put my phone (my keys stay in my pocket). When I put it in the center console, I kept forgetting to grab it and kept leaving it in the car. So I bought a little bin that squeezes next to the passenger seat. When I bring a passenger I either leave it in my pocket or have to remember to retrieve it from the center console. I find the center console worthless as a cup holder. Unless my legless buddy in the back seat wants to put his drink somewhere. The trunk opening can be aggravating. On the other hand I've come to enjoy the turn signal operation. I love the Toyota cruise control stalk too. I'm glad to see that you couldn't restrain yourself from extoling the virtues of our wonderful cars. I really love mine.
owned my brz (Australian version is slightly different) for almost 2 years now and the one thing that really grinds my gears, THE REVERSE LIGHTS. In Australia once you leave suburbia at night sometimes there aren't any lights so when reversing in the the dark i can barely see anything with my side mirrors. The reverse lights are low and in the centre of the car so only the camera can see anything, and because of that, trying to look out the passenger side mirror the screen is so bright it "glares" it out i cant see. Been thinking of getting small lights to fit into the sides of the rear bumper.
I’m surprised that nobody mentioned the fact that the pre-collision breaking system tries to kill you if you drive a bit aggressively. I’ve had it slam on the brakes three times already. NOT SAFE!
The thing I don’t like about the car is steering at low speeds especially, not very communicative, car barely reacts to steering inputs at low speeds. That wasn’t the case with the first gen
I have a red GR86 premium with the performance package. My dislikes. The stereo is underpowered. If you turn it up the bass speakers vibrate a lot and sound terrible. The USB cable connector is so very sensitive. You brush up against it, and it loses the connection. When using Android Auto, it will constantly lose the Bluetooth connection to the phone. I’m using an older phone with the stereo right now, so that might be the issue. The Bluetooth connection gets pissy when you want to use something else. When I switch to using headsets for my phone, the car will keep taking it from the headsets. Turning off the stereo does not solve this. The middle cup holders are useless and the door is lame. Almost anything would be better. The middle cup holders are too deep and narrow to get anything out of them easily. The gear indicator is lame. Mind you, I really like it, but it will not show you what gear you are in until the clutch has been fully released. If I messed up and downshifted, it’s too late to tell me what gear I’m in. The engine is already toast. The climate control buttons are in a sub-optimal arrangement. I would prefer something different. My mirror dimming is unusable. My radar detector mount is right under the mirror & I can’t switch to the dimming mode. I don’t know how to turn it off once I’ve turned it on without starting the engine. I just need to learn more about the car. Now… None of the really bothers me because I have plans to fix most if not all them. Come springtime I’m pulling out the interior and putting in sound dampening. I will be replacing most to all of the stereo equipment. I’ll do some research on the gear indicator and see if I can get it will show me the gear sooner. I’m going to pull out the climate control buttons and arrange them the way I prefer. I want to replace my mirror with the mirror you have. That will give me auto dimming. I plan on rewiring the USB connectors and put them in a better place. I would also like to remove the middle drink holders and 3d print a bigger box. The car is so much fun stock, and there is so much you can do to make it yours.
I like your videos but I wonder how awkward it must be editing and taking the pictures for these clickbait thumbnails...I imagine you force yourself to make that exaggerated face then go straight back to a blank expression while you check if its good enough lol
I want to like the BRZ/GR86 but the general styling & refinement is more juvenile & lacking compared to something like a 2024/2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF 6-MT.
Also gonna pay for that extra refinement $5-7k. Generally I’m looking at the road enjoying the sensations so interior design is low on my list. Same with exterior I’m driving it other people have to look at it. I’m 52 and love my BRZ. Yes ND2or 3 is a better car but I couldn’t swing the extra $

Thanks for the feedback, I'm right there with you!

I need to look into one of those seat gap fillers! And yeah I’m getting the hang of it I think, it’s a good hobby to have this car lol

Glad you’re enjoying your car! I completely agree about the phone situation, that’s been my biggest gripe with the car too.

Really love how you film and edit the vids

I recently test drove a 25’ BRZ Limited and the turn signal was a normal one. I guess thats something they fixed for the upcoming model year!
I have a 2024 BRZ Limited and I completely agree that the 5 things you hate; I dislike as well!
24 WRX has a normal turn signal that locks up and down while the 22 and 23 have the same as the brz
Great video, thanks for the amount of detail you go into. I'm looking forward to getting a WRX though, with a family that back seat comes in handy!
Subcribed, yes the wrx has the same turn signal. You’ll get use to it but pretty annoying at the start of owning it.
Love those gold wheels! Where did you get them from?
do the doors auto lock yet?
I’m not sure 🤔 never noticed they didn’t auto lock at speed
@ my wife bought a brand new 23 and loves it, but that’s the only thing she doesn’t like.
I wish the vb wrx had the same interior as the brz
Not that would be the play

How tall are you??

don’t hate the art bro. he’s making content

Yeah I guess you could say that. The 2nd Gen brz is way less of that though. Its very nice imo
Yikes. I know no car is perfect, but those 5 (hate) things are enough for me to not buy the car.
