    Expecting a president to change the country is nuts. Your representatives are the ones who make the laws. Start electing serious ethical people who want to actually do the work of governing to represent you instead of grifting, divisive, self enriching idiots who would destroy democracy to make a dollar.

      You mean the representatives that are more bought and sold than hookers? I'd agree with you if these said representatives actually thought for themselves and fought for what they actually believe in, but that is sadly not the case. You want to know who really controls things and determines what does and doesn't become a law, just follow the money. I know that sounds like something a conspiracy theorist would say, and I am far from being a conspiracy theorist, but what I am saying is true. The entire concept of government is just a charade and facade. Voting is another facade that doesn't matter, as it doesn't matter who is "elected"....congress, senate, and even the president, are all essentially puppets.

      Also reinstate The Fairness Act in political advertising giving equal time to every political party and candidate and turn the controll of the debates back to the League of Women Voters as it used to be and place them all both local and national back on broadcast television and radio so that everyone has access to political debates and not just those like us who can afford internet access and cable news television or subscription radio services.

Can't even believe we're talking about reparations when there's no. fucking. money. Right on local politics; everybody's focused on all this performative drama in DC when what they do there NEVER impacts people's lives at street level when it's LOCAL elected officials who can and should answer to voters in their local communities.

      Very true. I believe he mentioned a trope we hear again and again- “uncomfortable conversations we need to have”. By that he means a conversation where a white person is held responsible for a negative black situation. It is true that we’d benefit from uncomfortable conversations regarding these issues, but Mike wouldn’t like who’s made uncomfortable in that scenario. Unfortunately the white people on this panel are either ignorant of this or too afraid to stand up for themselves and call bullshit.

    "But you benefited from it." Uh huh, right. Not only did my family not immigrate to the USA until the 1920's..... But the words of Slavery and Slave were derived from my heritage, The Slavs.... Because white people were also slaves for a really long damn time, too. Apparently slavery only happened in the United States thanks to this woke, revisionist nonsense. In reality, my ancestors were slaves for 1000 years in the Ottoman Empire and the Middle East, but you don't hear Slavic people whining about it everyday. 😎 Not only that, we didn't get freed until the fall of the Ottoman Empire (20th century).... That means we were still slaves for 50 years after the slaves were freed in the USA. But nobody talks about that -- because it's inconvenient to the agenda they are pushing. I hate to break it to Killer Mike, but if everyone who was a descendant of a slave got a check -- it's basically every citizen of the United States (since we are a nation of immigrants). Every single continent had a slave trade about 250 years ago, so basically every single US Citizen would have at least one relative that was enslaved in their family tree.

If you have a classified folder of the highest classification, in front of you, and you’re president, and you want to say show a professor- that specializes in Turkish politics and is an expert on turkey- the president can just open that folder and show him. That is by thought. He doesn’t need to get the professor the classification credentials needed to see that. The folder is in the presidents possession- not in a skiff, they could be sitting in a restaurant and show him. The president just shows him. He is the declassifier And it was done by thought- every president does this. How do you not know this? You must be a common core kid- by that question- I can tell you’re an msnbc viewer. Remember trump dropped the Moab bomb on the mountain in Afghanistan while having dinner w the president of China- trump has a tv rolled out to the table- and both leaders watch the biggest non nuke bomb take out everyone with in two miles- that was of the highest classification- do you think the had xi up to date in his classification- I highly doubt it- 😂. The president declassified the viewing of that too secret mission- satellite classification- tactical classification- the president can and all do declassify by thought. Stop watching MSNBC- it makes you stupider by the minute- I’m really surprised- that your critical thinking skills are that low- you couldn’t game no scenarios in your pea sized brain where you could think of a president declassifying- just by doing- or by thought? Yet, regular people deal with things they had nothing to do with but are still affected by daily.
      Had the issue been handled originally when Lincoln tried with the freedmen bureau (which A. Johnson quickly dismantled) this wouldn't be a question today, yet America has pushed and tried to hide its past for so long that many people know no or have a revised knowledge of history and fail to see the impact the true past continues to have today.

      I would think the best way would be to tax corporations and use the money to improve impoverished black communities and subsidize black-owned cannabis businesses. The government needs to work for the people but to do that the people need to hold the politicians accountable for what they say and do. Which means we need to invest in educating our citizens in civics. There are a lot of things that need to happen at the same time to have the positive effect people want for reparations.

    To all Black ppl who believe in reparations: I, a non black person, was bullied, harassed as a young man. I've been rejected by women. Coworkers have made fun of me. So, I, too, have been through lifetime struggles. No, not the same as yours, but they're still struggles. I don't need "reparations". I've built myself up and have become somebody.

    Does he think reservations were given to Indigenous people?

    • @jmhorange
      @jmhorange 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think his larger point was he's not arguing against reparations for Native Americans or any other minority. Native Americans most definitely do need investments in their communities and educational opportunities, and other things. It's shameful and quite frankly embarrassing the statistics of the Native American community, and there are only 1 to 2 percent of them so we could easily raise their living standards. I grew up in foster care and I'm aware of how poverty affects my community as an African American, with higher foster care rates than White Americans. Having said that, something like 40 percent of Native American children end up in the foster care system. That's an absurd percentage and Americans should be ashamed of that percentage. That's also an effective way to wipe out a culture if children aren't raised by their parents, that would be considered a form of ethnic cleansing by the US if it happened in another country. And that's one statistic of many of where they lag far behind the average American. If we want to live up to the ideals of America, we need to do better than reservations and casinos.

      They were forced onto reservations, removing them so that their land would be available to the expansion of the US government (Manifest Destiny) and it's settlers.

    • @garyjohnson8327
      @garyjohnson8327 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jmhorange Again.. Reservations weren't "given"! The land was NATIVE! Reservations were the stale crumbs that were left after squatters and the Army took everything else. Anything Natives get they treated for. They are not "minorities" they are NATIONS. Not only victims of ethnic cleansing, but contract law(ongoing). The doctrine of discovery may be the only clear cut institutional racism still perpetrated.
      Should the families of Union casualties get reparations? The southern civilian families that suffered war crimes and transgenerational prejudice (Appalachia, sharecroppers).
      The problem is his argument is it's solipsistic. And only serves to divide on the bases of races and thwart a panracial, economic movement.
