This is great, I can watch this type of banter all day. I also liked the 'New Rule' segment where you compared parties to a prison yard where you need to join one for protection. That was point on!! 👍
@@readynowforever3676 Agree. Bill lost points in my book there. But he just had Kris Jenner on his podcast so he's plugging a bit, and fresh off that interview.
Honestly it depends on the guests. I've seen panels of five people work out just fine, able to move from topic to topic with no problem, and I've seen panels of two or three where it's a total clusterf***.
Honestly I much prefer older three panelists + 1 interview format. The show is way too serious and bogged down with only two panelists. I don't want Maher to be a news show, it's supposed to be entertaining, it needs people who can debate, who are quick on their feet.
Good job always Bill, you have consistently been the only sane voice in America in a funny but still very attentive and unique. I will love to be an audience in your show.
Christi complains about kids being entitled and given everything by their parents (true to some extent), but then he complains about the $74,000 he spends for one of his kids to go to Providence and $72,000 for the other kid to attend Notre Dame! I wish Bill would have asked him why in the world is he paying those gigantic tuitions for his kids? Why didn't he tell his kids to find a community college or figure out how they (the kids) can pay their own way to school? It seems to me that Christi is wanting to act like the big bad daddy bear, but behind the scenes he gives in to his entitled kids for everything they want.
The same reasons all the other parents do it: if you can afford to, you do. Cause every parent wants the best for their kids - not what's harder. Going to community or state college when you can afford elite is just going to make their post-college life harder; and for what? Principle? Cause you want it to be "harder" for them to reach their full potential? F-that. Life's too short
You know what's worse? Katty Kay telling telling Americans to send their kids to Cambridge for $20K/yr. Their acceptance rate so low it might as well be a rounding error.
I remember a day when asking "who did you vote for?" just wasn't done because it was rude, impolite, and intrusive. If you were to come out of the poll booth and there was a reporter, or anyone for that matter, standing there point blank asking you who you voted for, you were likely to give them the stink eye, right before you told them to piss off. It just wasn't done. People had respect for personal matters, and politics were considered a personal matter. Now, if you don't declare your party with a pennon flag going into the booth, you're some kind of terrible person for not showboating your political views. We need those early days back.
I grade 3 in Canada in 1964 we were taught about the 3 things a polite person in a democracy should never ask another if you respect your fellow Canadian - dont ask aboutreligion , politics, or how much money they make.
Secret ballot? Do you think those 27 lawn signs the car covered with bumper stickers and the family wearing MAGA hats give any indication of who you might have voted for.
He gave an answer, but as usual the left refuses to listen. I'm not going to tell you the answer. Do your homework and listen to it again. You may disagree with what he said, but he gave an answer. Stop embarrassing yourself.
That much was obvious. Also his unwillingness to actually answer any question. Ironic from the ‘journalist’ he is am n with no credibility. So he fits right in on this or all shows
I'm not American but I saw it differently. Here in the UK tv news journalists don't disclose for whom they voted. He did seem surprised, however, at Christie having voted for Trump twice which I thought was telling.
"Boring" here sounds more like "I haven't been paying attention because there aren't tweets a million times a day that would keep the media reporting non stop about everything"

If you watch the whole show, Christie did quite well, he pushed Bill the most I have seen from a guest, it was interesting to watch, and it was still under healthy discussions. Also at least Christie is not hunkered down in the silos with the other election deniers, he's willing to stand up for what the truth is, even if its against what his party is saying.
The issue with kids begins in K-12 education, which has devolved into nothing but customer service experiences. Parents don’t take responsibility, have little to no emotional composure, and give their children distraction devices as early as elementary school. It all goes back to the home and the (lack of) parenting and parental responsibility
And if that is the case, we are doomed...this bad parenting thing has been going on for at least the last 40 years or so..I blame poor education, too many drugs and booze, etc.
Christie and Bill M. had some great back and forth tonight, its very noticeable if you wash the whole show. Christie pushed Bill about the most I have seen a guest do, which was interesting to see.
And that was restrained for Christie, who is a knee-jerk bully. There's a deep nasty streak in that man that makes me as scared to have him in the Oval Office as T***p.
Wow! What a great show. This season has had the best guests on it. And tonight was no exception! I'm not a fan of Christie's politics, but I respect him. He is always good on this show. And watching him and Katy K. bust Bill's chops was hilarious 😂
Bill treated his guests like the radio sports talk show host, ask a question and never let them finish their thought because he talks over them with HIS opinion. It's so
To be fair. Christie was dancing around not answering. "I would be a bridge between the two". Then when really pressed for an answer he admitted it would be "appeasement". "Maybe let Putin just keep some areas........".
Bill used to have some pretty good ideas and thoughts. Now he thinks that the Kardashians are like the United States royal family. What a joke he is. Not funny. Stupid.
What it really shows is how much of a farce the primaries are in politics. You rip the guy in your own party, you know he is a POS and yet you still vote for him, amazing! This is the exact reason why it is impossible to defeat Trump. Trump knows he is in a party of idiots that he can control because they always vote the party line, there is no contradiction or else you are beheaded. This is the exact opposite issue on the Democratic side, there is too much partisan party action and they don't stick together in the end and then a few percentage points are taken off the voting total and the Repubs can sneak in a win.
Good panel discussion. And yes, the Kardashians are absolutely no equivalent to the house of Windsor! Even the United States deserves better than the Kardashians.
Thank you Chris Wallace for pointing out the nonsense Bill mentioned about the Kardashian's being America's family. Your intellect was highly appreciated!!
Christie can come off as so likable and down-to-earth. And then there were the Trump years, where he was nothing but awful. It’s sad (and pathetic), that there were so few Republicans who stayed true to themselves in the face of the orange guy.
And I would rather we have a president who tells the truth, rather than one who lied and had a love affair with Putin and the little fat kid in N Korea.
katty kay's comment that boris was gone the next day is hardly accurate - it took many, many public scandals for them [the conservative party] to finally oust him, and they did so, not because of his terrible and criminal behaviour, but because they finally realized he was an electoral liability
It doesn’t matter why they ousted the PM, the point is that in the parliamentary system, you can. Once parliament has lost confidence in the PM, they can remove him or her from office with a majority vote and hold another election. The electoral campaign doesn’t take two years, and it’s not limited to two parties. We see how dangerously divisive a two-party system is. The only part of the US system of democracy that I envy as a Canadian is the term limit for the leader of the elected party.
@@danib9845 BUT our republican houses NEVER lost confidence in TRUMP, so their system would not have worked here either. OR they are just a more civilized and ethical lot.
@@laurie6123 it’s not only the members from the PM’s party that will return a vote of non confidence, but the majority of the house, all parties combined. I think Chris Wallace was about to jump out a window just thinking about Her Majesty Kim Kardashian.
Funny!
@@rievans57 😂
Chris Wallace’s face at the idea of the Kardashians being considered America’s royal family was priceless. It read “You must be out of your G-D damned mind!”
The Royal Family for all their faults have a tradition of service to the UK that the Kardashians cannot so much as comprehend, let alone do!
And that was the proper responce
Could Bill's panel SUCK any worse between Sissy Wallace and Phatboi Christie. I mean 2 hardcore Vaj-RINOs/Never Thumpers that should just become DemocRATs FFS.
@@verilyheld And Bill is insane for suggesting there are similarities beyond the occasional controversy.

Great point from Katie. We Should def be able to remove lousy leaders. We almost never do.
Yes. Yahoo. Let’s do this.
It took months to get rid of Boris. Followed up by Liz Truss that only the conservatives voted on. She almost broke the country then with no vote sunak is now the prime minister.
It’s not all it’s cracked up to be!!! I think if a leader is voted out then a general election should take place

Chris Wallace nailed it too… not THAT family. 🙈✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
This is great, I can watch this type of banter all day. I also liked the 'New Rule' segment where you compared parties to a prison yard where you need to join one for protection. That was point on!! 👍

Great guest and different points of view with a little humor. I like it.
That was one of Bill's better shows . Good guest balance and topics
THIS was one of the best Overtime segments in a long time.

Yes…has to be one of thee dumbest things Bill has ever said.
What other family in America gets that much attention? That's all he meant
@@readynowforever3676 Agree. Bill lost points in my book there. But he just had Kris Jenner on his podcast so he's plugging a bit, and fresh off that interview.

I would never doubt that Christie voted for Trump.
You vote for Biden and all this inflation and High fuel cost also 7% interest rates to hurt the poor and middle-class???? Shame on you ...
I'd say Christie put party over country, so that disqualifies him as future presidential material.

Chris Wallace “OMG” in response to Bill saying the Kardashian’s were like the American Royal family. EPIC response.
Three guests on Overtime is the right number - any more than that and it becomes a circus.
I miss when he had three on the panel, too bad Chris Wallace wasn't there the whole time
I love how Chris Christie wears his pants "William Howard Taft" style.
Like when Chris Wallace says “oh, my god” when Bill Maher talks about the Kardashians :)
Excellent show tonight !
The President should be, first and foremost, the Top Diplomat.

I’m SO with Chris Wallace on this!! Any family but that family!!
That "oh my God!", was so honest and relatable...
Two votes for trump shows you the intelligence of Christie. Enough said as this is enough to never vote for him.
Good job always Bill, you have consistently been the only sane voice in America in a funny but still very attentive and unique. I will love to be an audience in your show.
Every once in awhile I start to like Chris Christie and then he talks.
Don't worry, it's not your ears. It's only your bias
He voted for Trump twice that is all you need to know.

Yep. He's A bum!!!
Good on Chris for being a good sport
Christi complains about kids being entitled and given everything by their parents (true to some extent), but then he complains about the $74,000 he spends for one of his kids to go to Providence and $72,000 for the other kid to attend Notre Dame! I wish Bill would have asked him why in the world is he paying those gigantic tuitions for his kids? Why didn't he tell his kids to find a community college or figure out how they (the kids) can pay their own way to school? It seems to me that Christi is wanting to act like the big bad daddy bear, but behind the scenes he gives in to his entitled kids for everything they want.
Hypocrisy is a requirement of all republicans.
Bootstraps are for poor people.
@@mypillowguy445 Rich people have velcro.
Hmmmm. How do they do those exit polls?
Secret ballot? Do you think those 27 lawn signs the car covered with bumper stickers and the family wearing MAGA hats give any indication of who you might have voted for.

Christy never spoke a bad word about fatso until he was useless to Christy

katty kay's comment that boris was gone the next day is hardly accurate - it took many, many public scandals for them [the conservative party] to finally oust him, and they did so, not because of his terrible and criminal behaviour, but because they finally realized he was an electoral liability
