Ignorance is bliss. Louis saying he didn't see anyone with guns, just people without jobs as if to convey sympathy for their situation. Yes, these people live there because they have nowhere else to go but it's still extremely dangerous. Just because he didn't see the danger, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Those security guys are scared for good reason, it's no joke. The people living there have nothing left to lose so there's no telling what they are willing to do to you to get what they need.

I mean sure, but they could've just been 'harmless' because Louis had an armed police entourage to take him through the building. I still wouldn't feel safe there after watching this clip.
I mean, large amounts of criminals in a lot of countries are unemployed and homeless, as desperation can be the biggest motivator. Given the sheer amount of violent crime happening in SA specifically, you’re probably never too far away from a shady character and a couple of hand cannons. Especially if you’re like Louis and often recording in the more impoverished areas.

It's a terrible sequence of circumstances that results in someone living in a place like that. No electricity, no sanitation, no anything. That is a horrific way to live. It's at that point where you'd think nothing of mugging someone for cash or whatever.
