I live in South Africa in Gauteng Johannesburg where this was filmed. He says the guys bribe the cops R20(20 rand) and he goes free. And that is 100% correct. Money talks crime walks. And the response time of the police here is close to two hours before they come. To give you perspective 20 rand is 1 dollar.
People watch this and think build higher walls, secure the property better.... with zero understanding on the real issue! Our justice system is so flawed that the mob is a fustrated last resort! And no one likes it but its the result not the initial problem.

What Louis doesn't get is that property is your life, especially in poorer countries. Property crime is a serious crime, it isn't nothing to these people. All the things you work hard for and that enables you to survive and thrive has to be protected.
You give him too little credit if you think he "doesn't get it". He projects the image of a naive, properly brought up First Worlder because he knows the majority of his audience (who _are_ naive First Worlders) will be thinking exactly those thoughts, and so gets the people who he interviews to show why that sort of thinking doesn't work. That the world is more complex than just "Oh, crime? Just call the police". And I think now even those naive First Worlders have been learning those lessons for themselves, because they've been steadily seeing now in their own countries how corrupt their own police and judicial systems actually are.
