You see this in their fight when they're both doing that spinning thing. I always thought they both had the same thought of "I'll reset my stance and wait for him to attack", and so there was a second of them both spinning.

The spin move isn’t just flashy but it allows him to reposition and reset his stance to defend himself while keeping distance between him and his opponents.
Don’t forget Anakin does Obi-wan’s signature spin move when he kicks Dooku over the railing and then front flips over it in episode 3 after Dooku knocks out and pins Obi-wan under a falling balcony.
Considering how much of a fan he was before Phantom Menace and how he apparently made the saber noises while filming paired with how often he seems to do it, I think it's safe to assume Ewan wasn't meant to spin his saber but did so because he could 😂
It is interesting about "spinning progression", because Qui-gon did some spinning a little bit too, but with every new cycle of user-circle it became more and more progressive. Qui-gon -> Obiwan -> Anakin. Where Anakin mixed this into his style with the ultimate complexity.
3:52 you know I never noticed this till now, but if it wasn’t for the fact that Vader couldn’t die cause he’s in the original trilogy and also that Jedi aren’t supposed to kill, Vader would 100% be dead here if kenobi used the blade instead of the hilt
Ive also noticed obi wan in the prequels is the only character who uses a reverse grip. He pulls it out in both attack of the clones and revenge of thensirh, butnonly for a quick couple swings then he goes back to normal
Is it just the editing of the 2 different movies or do they explain the color saber changes? From episode one to 2 to 3? Idk what it is but each movie feels “different” especially episode 1 to 3
Goddamn the camera work in the Disney films is atrocious! You can really see how far the quality dipped from the prequel trilogy to the sequel trilogy - both in choreography and cinematography.
I mean, it’s not really a move that was given to him. It’s merely a parry or block that is pretty much to use in every form of sword martial arts and is basically done in every single movie with a sword. Nothing special.
3:27 This behind the back pass gotta be my favorite. Then he does Anakin's signature move WITH HIS LEFT HAND

He did. I swear he did a spin. He started the Obi Wan spin tradition
@@thepeskyone, he also didn’t like the role
@pop-culturecinephile8144 that is irrelevant but whatever. I already knew that considering he didn't like Sci fi stuff
He decided that "hell, i'm too old for this crap, let Luke do all this dancing" 😂😂😅
This is exactly what Nick Gillard meant with ”signature fighting styles”.
Yea he let the actors form their own styles too and let choreography form somewhat around that
Ewan did the Hayden signature move so well at 3:30.
He even did it with his left hand...
vader got pissed too
It's like he is taunting Vader "look i can do this move and you can't anymore"😂
"Let's try spinning! That's a good trick!"
I LOVE Obi-WAN’s spinning move. It’s SO ICONIC!
I will never stop feeling sorry for Anakin. I will always wish to ease his pain.

Who has the better spinning move: Anakin or Kenobi? Well, at least I know that Anakin developed the spinning move from Kenobi!
Anakin's spinning is different and more complex but they are both amazing duelists
Anakin easily, Obiwan can't do as effortlessly as Anakin
It's the obi-ani spin. They are equal.
Obi Wan is clearly superior. Anakin's spin move got his limbs severed against Obi Wan.

Because the lightsaber is light as a feather, spinning it gives you no tactical advantage whatsoever…
It is however cool as hoth.
I can't stop looking at Naboo without thinking of the BF2 map XD
The only thing that sucked about the prequel fights is light not bouncing onto anyone or anything when the lightsabers were on.

You forgot to include the graham interview where ewan does it there too lol
he got the best choreograph here better than disney.
