I love how Dooku's ultimate technique seems to be everyone forgetting his force lightning until he zaps them
Perhaps he was 'charging'? Call me crazy, but the more rage you get. the more stronger in the darkside you are. Dooku's always been conflicted and probably still feels something akin to the light when fighting jedi. So using force lightning requires darkside and he just needed to generate it. That, or he was just wanting to have a little fun in testing his abilities.
It’s part of the Mentality of Makashi, the fencing form of lightsaber combat. The user moves with the least resistance conserving energy and being precise with attacks. Dooku using Lightning is part of that: a surgical strike that creates distance, harms the target’s nervous system, and tires them out.

@@PsychSoldier756Well, savage is not very strong in the force but has a lot of brute force. You can see that one good hit puts Dooku to the grownd, so he know's fighting him in hand to hand is gonna be to his disadvantage. Which leads to the conclusion to use force lightning against him as savage doesn't know how to counter it and also doesn't really know how to create a force sheild. Which makes him weak to force attacks.

The fact that Obi Wan could stand against Maul and Savage for such a long time just shows how good of a duelist he is.
The Best defensive jedi in galaxy
Honestly, on pure technical ability, I think Obi-Wan was literally the best swordsman of his age, with the possible exception of Dooku (the last Dooku vs Anakin fight, he expected to lose as part of the grand plan, and in any case, Anakin beat him through brute force).
He beat Maul as a Padawan, beat him repeatedly again and with Savage, he rinsed Ventress repeatedly, and he fought Vader four times, three in their respective prime, and absolutely destroyed him twice (the other time, he was 10 years rusty, mid-PTSD flashback, and running away). The last time, he held Vader - who was notably much, much more cautious that time - at bay for precisely long enough, smirked at Luke, then casually ascended to a higher plane of existence.
Seriously, if he used two lightsabres all the time, he'd have been pretty much unbeatable.

@@TheFireHawk7 definitely, obviously kenobi doesn't have as much raw power as anakin yoda or windu, but his fundamentals tactics and skill with a lightsaber is way above anyone with his atonement to the force

For me, it's not just that Dooku fought off THREE nightsisters while BLIND ... it's that he did it while still in his pajamas!

can we just appreciate how much of a menace krell is? 4 hands, 2 double bladed lightsabers, and despite now betraying them, has the balls to say “you dare attack a JEDI?!”
Also the fact that he at one point decided to put his weapons away and thought “Fuck the laser swords, Im gonna start punching”

it's interesting how distinctly different his saber style is then say grevious. Not only because of his twin double bladed lightsabers but the positioning and use of his extra arms is very different.
Also before we start trashing on clone wars grevious I'm basically comparing him to 2008 grevious because that's the only one worth mentioning.
We love how all the best fight scenes are with maul. It was an excellent idea of expanding his story.
I like that too, not only did he get the best episodes of the clone wars, but the best duels too. We really missed out in regards to the Son of Dathomir arc. (While I understand why they followed Ahsoka, I really wish they adapted that comic into Season 7 because the people who didn't read the comic missed out on more of Maul's backstory, including his meeting with Dooku, his rematch with Sidious and his fights with Grievous and Mace Windu).

So u haven't watch star Wars if maul didn't killed quite gon jin , obiwan and Jim would of trained smoking an he wouldn't have went to the d's meaning no Darth Vader meaning if you removed maul from star wars the series wouldn't be the same
@Richard Violet My issue with Maul is that he was cut in half and lived. I really enjoyed his appearance in TCW and Rebels, but the weight of death was lessened in bringing him back.
For someone who's trained in "lightsaber fencing" which is predominantly Aimed at 1v1 dueling, Dooku's ability to fight multiple opponents at once even while maimed is terrifying
And he was like 80 at that point . In his prime Anakin wouldn't have stood a chance . I know Dooku won against him like 8 times but still Anakin got the last laugh

force choke isn't exclusive for sith, jedi can use it too.
But here he used it out of hate drawing from the Dark Side of the force
The Ashoka Maul fight feels so much more real. It’s almost as if they animated a real fight between 2 people. I love the other duels but this one has way more realism to it!

They even brought the original Maul fight stuntman from Phantom Menace for it, it was really cool.

I love the movement of mauls footwork when fighting ahsoka it just flows so beautifully
It may just be me, but I really loved the Anakin & Obi wan vs Dooku fight on Oba Diah. The choreography and animation was goddamn beautiful.

@@dacianastilean-styles3895 It's interesting because people have routinely said Dooku couldn't handle [insert name] because of their use of Form whatever and that he is too slow etc. People seem to think that one can be the Order's greatest duelist outside Yoda being being a slow, methodical fencer. The fact of the matter is that Dooku like any great combatant is going to switch up his approaches. Whats more is he was considered the greatest Jedi of his age, outside the ever present Yoda, and he only grew more powerful as a Sith. And yet people assume he is incapable of using the Force to augment his movement to the point of super-human? People make assumptions because we never really see Dooku at his best. He is consistently holding back during Clone Wars to the point of absurdity. He could have killed Anakin half a dozen times over in that period but didn't even when he was dueling at 50%. The closest we see his full potential is when he is fighting the Nightsisters, albeit in an highly degraded state being blinded and drugged, and the Obi Diah duel. And maybe when he easily overwhelms and disarms Ventress in a matter of 10 seconds after Savage went rogue.
@@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 Precisely. Dooku is a god when it comes to duelling. Only Yoda and Sidious surpass him and only Mace equals him. He probably would have beaten Anakin in ROTS if Palps hadn't told him to go easy on Ani.
Change my mind, but Clone wars have best fight scene. This is a masterpiece.
Whack illustrations. Doesnt look pretty smooth, thats the reason i dont like clone wars that much. It just doenst look cool. Should have do some animations in there
@@zedox.official this isnt illustration, its 3d animation, most of it is done in motion capture. It looks pretty smooth to me, no where near as clunky as the movie fights.
@@sanjayfernando438 If it would be animated, you could see the movement and the expressions. There is just a lack of physics and fluedly there. They swing a sword like in 2 Picture. First when they hold the saber up and then when the lightsaber cross each other. Doesnt look like an animation.

Maul and Savage vs Obi Wan is gotta be one of my favorite lightsaber duels in Star Wars.
Those 4 episodes of the invasion of Umbara still give me chills to this day. Probably the best arc in the entire series tbh.
When you realize that if every Jedi fought like General Krell, then the Jedi Order might have had many more survivors.
The thing is krell knew the clones would attack. The reason many jedi died was because they were caught completely off guard and usually also had to deal with droids firing on them too
I think having 2 double lighsabers really helps with defence. Also the clones had a little bit of stormtrooper aim that day
If Savage Opress had time to hone his power, I believe he would’ve been crazy OP as during fits of rage you could see his potential in the force.

Had to watch the 11:45 fight at 0.25 speed to fully understand and appreciate that choreography. Just incredible.
You know Darth Maul is one of, if not the best character in this show, when he always gets the best fights.
The fact that Maul is in all of the Top 3 fights just shows how good and cool of a character he’s become through Clone Wars especially that he knew about the future the Jedi just needed to listen…

I liked the sidious vs maul and savage more than the ahsoka vs maul fight
the ahsoka vs maul fight is a lot more impressive though because it was mo-capped
They both have their appeals. Sidious vs Maul and Savage is more entertaining to watch purely for fight value just because of how powerful Sidious is and how he just steamrolls the two Savage and Maul. The Ahsoka vs Maul fight though is a lot more personal and, imo, holds a lot more personal stakes and power due to how grounded and guttural it feels

thats what i didnt like, being too realistic isnt good id rather have an imaginative way of finding as long as it still sticks with star wars realism. other fights like obiwan and anakin vs dooku is far better in choreography

The fact that Savage is involved in four out of ten fights shows what a monster he was. If he had been able to finish his education, he would definitely be one of the strongest characters. Whoever came up with the idea of letting him die so early, it's a shame
I really love watching Anakin fight, his form with the lightsaber is so nice to watch
Barris was a fool to try and fight Anakin as one he was one of the greatest duelist at the time and two he was angry BC of what was happening with Ashoka.
Its crazy how Sidious made short work of maul and savage but kenobi was evenly matched.

Sidious was on another level because of him using the force to enhance his reflexes and moves using a lightsaber but my god, even knowing that and seeing him do it was still surprise because of how quick he was.
He had mastered all 7 forms of lightsaber combat and he literally trained maul. He know exactly how he fought. He was literally playing around in that fight as if that was the most fun he had had in a while. Truly a beast
I loved Anakin v Barris cause it just shows how much of a BEAST Anakin was in duels to the point where he legit scared her near the end of it
Krell vs greavous would be awesome
Everyone knows Maul vs Vizla was one of the most badass fights in the galaxy. Mandalorian throne room, dark saber, battle for supremacy. The whole nine yards. I’d say it rivals the one with Malgus versus the old republic Jedi grandmaster in the cinematic.
Gotta love how dooku just keeps blasting savage with force lightning, like he isn't even trying to hide what hes doing, savage just keeps letting it happen
Anakin is amazing. He's proficiency with dual sword and he's always fighting angry. Love it. You feel every commitment in the hit even in animation

According to lore, dodging or blocking lightning attacks is very very hard to do, and let's face it, Savage as badass as he was he was still a learner.
The fact that half of those duels were Maul's and two were Dooku's, with Ventress in both of Dooku's duels and one of Maul's, shows how good at dueling they are. And how good Obi-Wan, Anakin and Ahsoka are, to have fought them and lived.

Maul in legends was a master in all 7 forms and Jar Kai.

In the maul vs obi wan duel obi wan uses form 4 ataru while he usually uses form 3 soresu. I think they have fantastically animated the scene and i love the change in obi wans combat style
Ahsoka vs maul fight was impressive, but I think the talking BEFORE the fight made the scene good. My favourite has to be Savage and Maul vs Palpatine. It’s just amazing to see it.

No Dooku vs Anakin and Obi-Wan from season 6? That fight had some of the best choreography in the whole show!

For a padwan Barriss was so good. Anakin had to dip into his anger to apprehend her. I also think that was the dual that convinced Ashoka that she needed dual sabers. I would love to see her character again but in Live action, Ventress too. Looking at you Ashoka series.
Ahsoka had been using two sabers way before that fight, she just didn't have her short one at the time
She already had the dual sabers. Also, Tales of the Jedi shows that training to defend herself against the clones by Anakin’s orders was what motivated her to get the second one
5 of the 10 fights was Maul. That’s fricken crazy dude. One of the most daring moves to bring him back and it payed off amazingly
I'm kinda sad that the old republic era never got a show like TCW.
The modern sith and jedi keep in mind, are still rediscovering lost power after a galactic dark age (and imo the rule of 2 actually handicapped the sith, despite majority opinion. The whole point of the infighting was to ensure survival of the fittest, but with only 2 sith, lots of knowledge is lost upon succession).
The ancient Jedi and Sith were on a whole other level, imagine how crazy those duels would be.

The way I look at these battles, force telekinesis is far more powerful than lightsabres and if I were a Jedi I would not even pull my sabre and just toss them around constantly.
There are two things about that:
In ESB, Yoda tells Luke Skywalker that the "Jedi's strength flows from the Force," and that the Force should be used for "knowledge and defense, never for attack." (also his confrontation with Vader in cave on Dagobah)
Secondly, ancient sith preferred to use force and standard blades enchanted with dark side rituals as they believed lightsabers to be inferior and the switch happened only to level playing field with jedi
Small problem with that - only when one fighter greatly outweighed another in the Force could they do more than sucker punch them with the Force in a straight fight.
I also like how Obi-Wan never lost a revenge battle in spite of him being a Jedi. Dark side of the force strengthens his mind greatly.
what i love the most is the distinct sound effects for each saber. mainly Savage's, Krell's, and Sideous's sabers all that the under lying growl but at different pitches so they are distinct. its superb.
That finisher from Sidious on Savage is, well... actually pretty savage indeed. He didn't even have to look at the guy, instead he wanted to watch his brother's reaction.
The move anikin pulled on barris made him look like a god with the force
I think Barriss deserves some respect. Despite only being a padawan, she challenged Anakin, one of the best duelists and held her own. Fair dues.

This is why, in my opinion, animated will always be better than live-action. Maybe not in love stories, but if it’s got a lot of action sequences or magic or superpowers, you can do so much more in animation
I agree it takes a lot of effort and love as well so seeing animated fight scenes being bad ass and flashy is my favorite thing

Barriss got a power spike lol. Feel like it should've been easier for Anakin to stomp her, even if she's using the dark side. Guess they needed a bit of a suspenseful fight to end the arc

İt was Savage’s unprepared momment when obi cuts his arm off and sidius can easily force choke them both without any duel but he wanted to kill savage in front of maul to anger maul after overwhelming him while maul use his anger sidius showed him he is master of sith then make him beg to yourself for dont be tortured

Obi wan vs savage and darth maul was amazing. That tactic of kicking savages leg until it was weakened enough. Shows how smart Jedi and Sith were when dealing with bulky stronger opponents

Something I just noticed- you can see that Maul adopts some of Kenobi's mannerisms while he has an apprentice, almost like he understands the techniques without understanding the principles behind it.

Hot take but I think the top 2 should be switched. Both were amazing but I just loved seeing sidious in action and not him just using his force lightning
To be fair to the #1, the reason it's so iconic to so many is generally because that was actually mocapped by the GOAT Ray Parks himself. In case you don't know who that is, he was the actor for maul back in phantom menace. So to see not one, but TWO fan favorites propping up maul (Sam Whitwer too, might remember him from TFU games) we already knew it was gonna be awesome.
I'm so thankful I got to see The Clone Wars back in 2008 when it came out.

Obi wan VS Maul and Savage should be higher imo. Kenobi shows off his bad ass side while also showing the battle intelligence he has at the same time. It is my favorite from the whole series for sure. But the ahsoka and Maul fight is a cooler fight scene I will admit that

Pre Vizsla vs Maul had sooo many adrenaline rush moments. Definitely my favorite.
Savage and Maul vs Sidious was the best one in my opinion, it was as smooth as Ahsoka vs Maul and it had so much impact and iconic scenes that I can't give away 1st place to other clone wars fight
The only thing I think is missing imo is Ashoka running from the troops in coruscant while they’re all blasting at her with stun

Clone wars was great. The best choreographed duels. Best shot and super dynamic
