More over, it's been relatively easy to come across (in my daily research findings) examples of failures of this autocratic system (wherein power is consolidated by one person at the top[Putin]).
Thereby, creating a system where people within that system are afraid to speak truth to power - an inability for Russian Henchmen/Oligarchs to communicate to the Person at the top - openly, about the critical (pernicious) issues facing their country economically, militarily and technologically.
ie. An increasingly isolated and unaware Vladimir 'Presitator' Putin.

Russia wouldnt need to "protect" so much airspace if they could start to live in peace with their neighbors.

It would reduce the airspace to protect additionally, if they were to retreat from their colonial empire in Siberia, like all other colonial empires (e.g. UK, France, USA, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium) have released most of their former colonies between the 1940s and 1970s.

U.S. politicians are certainly hypocritical. They restrict Ukraine (non-NATO) using “western” munitions on Russian territory because of NATO involvement propaganda. Yet, U.S. has no problem letting Israel use supplied munitions on Iran (non-NATO).😡

I think all the sudden infrastructure (hot water distribution, dams, etc) problems come from the war. Many of the men that used to take care of all these things were mobilized. The replacements are probably overworked and have little to no direct knowledge of the facilities.
