Not only is this a great pattern but, and I don’t know why I haven’t said so before, your videos are such great quality. We can see all the detail we need to follow along. Thanks Tim. It’s appreciated by all of us I’m sure.
That’s so curious that you used those words Tim. I use a coaster that is a picture of my hero Jeff Bridges (Dude from the film The Big Lebowsky) with the words “The Dude Abides” on it. 😊
I was told purple dulls out more to match naturals under water which is why it apparently works for nymphs but no one can seem to explain why it works on dry flies.
Great question. Although rabbit fur isn't the floatiest dubbing, it takes both dry and wet floatants extremely well, actually kind of absorbs them. With the floatant absorbed or trapped between the fibers, the fly floats just great. In other words, if you know you're going to end up using floatant anyhow, why not use a dubbing that works well with it.
The flies that look like they are in a little trouble trigger that predator instinct in the fish. this one will do that for sure. (Trout don't eat really pretty flies.) Rock on, my friend!
Good effort. A bit like Egan's 'warrior', in that one would wonder how it works. We know the 'warrior' does, but what about this one? C'mon Tim, let me have it. 😃
Great video bud. I have used purple flies before as a switch up and they catch fish. Then again I’m running purple perdigons as a switch up and once coated with up resin it almost looks black
@@davidharmony5308 You are the one that said "a copy of the one you created" as if I had somehow taken credit for something you had done. Now that's what I call being sensitive. How am I supposed to know what you have and haven't created or maybe just thought of while sitting at your tying table. Am I missing something? Did you post a picture of it somewhere? Publish an article? Produce a video? Tie it professionally? What is that would let me know that you are not just another internet troll trying to make yourself look better by basically crapping on someone else's hard work. Also, I never, here or anywhere else took credit for developing this pattern because I'm guessing about a gazillion people have tied it before.

Thanks Dude. You abide.

Awesome man. Ive been using spinner reels but ive been getting more n more interested in fly fishing
Did you ever start fly fishing?
The one dislike is from a bait fisherman
Superb tie

Why rabbit dubbing? Better options for a fly that’s supposed to float. Any particular reason?

Trout don't follow Instagram? Oh well, most of them don't follow my flies either.
sing it!
I'd like to know what it is about purple flies...they just work...and not just for steelhead (as I was once told) I have no idea why!
Good effort. A bit like Egan's 'warrior', in that one would wonder how it works. We know the 'warrior' does, but what about this one?

I love a dark purple perdigon, with a red hotspot or a little white in it. It's done great for me!
What's a switch up?
Callum Clark a switch up is trying something completely different that they have never seen before or in a different color combo
Savage Flies now you got me thinking. Purple thread and a white thread rib then a red hotspot.
What model is your small brass stacker?
What? Trout don't follow Instagram? What do they follow Twitter, Tik Tok? Inquiring minds want to know.
Trout dont follow your Instagram. HAHA
IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE
Thank goodness they don't follow IG!
Looks like a copy of the one I created a few years back.
Ok. But I can assure you that I did not copy anything from you.
@@tightlinevideo excuse me, I forgot this is a sensitive world now lol it would be a "variant"
Nevertheless purple catches fish...
