Hey Davie, it's Vinny, I'm the disabled man of the same age as you unable to get out of my home. Just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and New Year 2024. I appreciate all you do and the many flies and fishing videos you create. I still tie my own at home even though I do not go and try to copy what you show. I'll never be as good as you no matter how hard I try but that is not the point. the point is I try and can only get better so thank you for the inspiration. I wish somewhere in life we could have met as I find you fascinating to watch and learn. you have kept me busy during the year with so many interesting videos. All the very best to you and hope next year proves as bountyful as this year as you have had some lovely fish. Well done....your friend and fan....Vinny
Hi Vinny,
I'm blown away with your kind words and message which makes me very happy as I do enjoy making the videos so hearing how much they mean to you makes me feel so good and inspires me to continue with them..I would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when they come..
A good friend and hopefully one day you never know our paths my cross and we will sit down and have a good blether and tye a fly together..
Your friend Davie...
Hello Davie.. Beautiful Tye as always.. I must say, I can't get enough of your videos I keep a tab open on my pc all the time. also save them to my tying library.. Thanks and all the very best! Greg
I'm always blown away at how precise your tying is. Even when you tie a buggy fly it's just as precise. That is one beautiful buggy fly! Thanks always Davie!
Sir an honor to view and learn from your vids
Beautiful caddis davie that body dubbing is great for nymphs tks 😊
Caddis are one of my favorite patterns but I didn’t have a pupa pattern…. Until now. Love the look of this fly.
Love the idea of tying legs close to hackle
The horns and knotted legs add so much to this simple little fly. Very Nice !!
Very Buggy! Excellent pattern. tying a couple now! Thanks Davie!
Thanks Davie for another fine fly !
Lovely tied fly thanks Davie
Excellent davie 👌
Отличная муха - маэстро! Благодарю , Дэви!👍🤝🇰🇿
very nice pattern, thank you for sharing.🦋
Very nice. Caddis drys and nymphs work well on Alaska grayling, so I'm going to tie a few of these to try this spring.
Bijuterie 👋!
Horns! They add so much. If nothing else they have added confidence to my caddis patterns. Beautifully ugly pattern. Like the real thing.
Very nice Caddis Pupa. Another eye surgery has me unable to tie, so I appreciate your videos! We have great Caddis hatch on the Arkansas River here in Colorado.
Get well soon Glen and I'm glad you liked the fly..All the very best Davie
Very nice
Bushy and buggy! How deeply do you usually fish this fly? 👍
Lovely fly Davie! Keep them coming, I’ve went through some of your videos going to tie a load of flies for a davie mcphail inspired box!
Also I’ve seen a few videos of your tying on TikTok, is this officially you or is it someone using your videos?
Regards
Hi Andrew,
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you, I have recently made an account on TikTok as I have came across some using my name for some reason so I have attached a link to mine for you to see..I'm glad you liked the fly..

Think the horns really bring life into this fly. Another great tye. Thank you Davie. Will you be at Staffordshire in February.?
Hi Graham,
I'm sorry I'll not though maybe in the future...I'm glad you liked the fly and that you are a fan of the horns as well..
All the very best Davie..
@@DavieMcPhail it's my wish to meet you before I pop me cloggs. Watch a few tying, but you are the best.
Very nice quick question what set up, retrieve fish this on lough? Lough mask gets green/yellow pupae
Hi Martin,
When I have fished it on both rivers and lochs I mainly have it on the top dropper though it would fish anywhere on the cast, it has caught me many fish over the years and I'm glad you liked it..
All the very best Davie
Top video as always Davie. Looking for a bobbin recommendation for Xmas?
Hi @penrhynmatt ,
I use the Tiemco ceramic bobbin holder which I have used since I bought my first one in 1990. I mainly use the heavy-duty version though they have a midge version as well which I use too.The heavy duty version was called a floss bobbin holder when I first bought it as I would put a bobbin of floss on it when tying large tube flies and I could get a much tighter body with less waste...I have attached a link to the one I use..www.lathkill.com/tools/bobbin-holders/tiemco-heavy-duty-ceramic-bobbin-holder.html
All the very best Davie
@DavieMcPhail cheers mate appreciated
Really nice fly mr. McPhail . I like those buggy/messy flies. You like the new euro nymph and tactical dubbing?
Hi Dominique,
I am as it's very similar to a lot of the dubbings I like to make myself so it's great that I can say that these are worth having if you like the mixes I use on many of my flies..I'm glad you liked the fly..
All the very best Davie..
