I'm a big Hendrix fan too! I got into him as a kid in the 80's. I've got to go with "All Along the Watchtower" as my number one. Then probably Purple Haze and Voodoo Child. But yeah, "Hear my train a coming" is up there too. Thanks for watching my friend!
I enjoy you videos and have watched and rewatched many. I have tied several. I took your suggestion to watch Barry Ord Clarke and his parachute tying. Afterward I successfully tied a size 18 Parachute Adams fly. Thanks for all your videos, keep up the excellent work.
A size 18 Parachute Adams is a tough fly to tie! I've tied a few that small but don't think I'll be posting any videos or pictures of mine anytime soon. (They were a little scraggly looking!) I do appreciate the support Lee. Cheers. -Matt
I tell you, I had never fished a Purple Haze until a couple weeks ago in Idaho. For two days the fish were keying on anything purple and it did great. Then it died off and yellow/orange were hot.
Purple has never got a rep. I can tell you I got a book that has one purple fly in it. It's a Welsh fly called the purple mallard.( English translation) It's a wet fly that's a purple body with a rib, bronze mallard wing and black or purple hackle. The fly dates to the 1950s but the book is dated 1967. The book is printed both the u.k and United States.
Colin- that's interesting. What's the name of the book? I'd love to check it out. And I agree that we don't see a lot of purple flies, particularly as they can be so effective sometimes. I was in Idaho a couple weeks ago and the fish were sporadically hitting some yellow and orange patterns, then a couple of us switched to purple and they went crazy. It was almost like flipping a switch. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend.
@@SavageFlies I was wrong on the date of the book but here is a link to the book www.abebooks.co.uk/RESERVOIR-LAKE-FLIES-JOHN-VENIARD-London/21698694470/bd
Matt, Could you wrap both hackle feathers at the same time? I also saw a video where the fly Tyler just used the white feather and colored part of the feather brown.

Sounds like they were big Hendrix fans, I can respect that. Got Jimi in my playlist myself. Favorite Jimi song is “Hear my train a comin”

May have to do some experimenting now. That looks slick.

Cool looking fly. If you didn’t have the Para Wing material. Would Antron work for the post? Great video. Thank you.
