Can’t have enough of these! It always amazes me how many little tips and techniques you use to make each pattern even better.

I can promise you as surely as the sun will rise tomorrow that if I tried this pattern I would clog the hook eye with thread and hackle material and not be able to get my tippet through. You are an artist Tim.

I have found that I need to judge how much space I think I need and then add a little more . It helps to leave the area on the hook that you left open with a bare hook so that a definite "no go" zone. Sometimes it takes me a half dozen flies in a row to be able to accurately judge how much space I need. Brother, know that you are not alone and we all suffer greatly from this. And yes, Tim makes it look easy. Mine would look like a kindergartener tied it.

Nice tip on the bit of dubbing for grip. That also slightly builds up the body and along with the uni stretch makes for much for easier hump formation. You must have learned that from lots of experience. Your hair stacker also looks quite experienced. I have been tying humpies for nearly thirty years and these are valuable improvements on a pattern that is a bit complex but well worth the effort. Thanks a bunch.

Ive always hated tying humpy flies. It's the only dry fly these took every bit of 5 minutes per fly. This way looks much the same, lol. It's a gorgeous method, but I feel it would take me longer. I will certainly have to give it a try! Thank you Tim for all you do. You've help so many gain confidence, including myself. And as always, you have the absolute best method for hard boiling an egg!

I cannot get over how dense this hackle is. With the large diameter of the base and the high quality hackle it's really something to look at. Thank you so much for all your videos. Your channel is a cornucopia of tips and tricks for fly tying.

I would be the one to spend an hour trying to tie this, and then snag it in a tree first cast.

Great video. I can never do a humpy right in any way so I tend to tie mine crippled style and with a foam and or cdc back. There are so many tricks in tying that when I have the chance I pass them on to any young tiers who will listen

I love to fish these, but hate to tie them. Honestly, the last 10 years or so I've resorted to buying them. Maybe I'll give this method a shot!

I would highly recommend trying it. The method shown here really does make it quite easy to tie.

We use the skinny body yellow humpy on the upper sac and mccloud ... they seem to work better than the chubby body. Great tie brother

I’m gonna start tying more of these for dropping. My typical parachute adams, etc. dry droppers just get a bit waterlogged in bouncy water…I figure these with some adams grey unithread, etc. will make a nice analog

Always a pleasure to watch you tie flies. Just curious though, aren't you itching to whip something up using, you guessed it, 6/0 olive Danville?

Luckily, I bought all the humpies I'll ever use out west years ago. That doesn't look like much fun.
