- Charlie Brewer is one of the greatest QB's in Baylor history. He led them to the Sugar Bowl in 2019, but he won only two games in 2020 and is now transferring. What happened, and where will he end up next?

Matt Rhule was def a main component to his and Baylor's success and him leaving for the NFL was a main reason if not THE reason for his decline in play and departure
True, but that’s a very broad statement. There I bit more too it, that Charlie doesn’t get credit for.
Yes rhule had an impact on his career positively but it think it was mims that completely carried that offense in 2019.
I went to every game. Charlie had 2 good seasons and oh wait they just happen to be the two seasons matt rhule was there. Matt Rhule is just that good to turn an average QB into a star. Clearly the Panthers saw MRs potential as well.
@@drewgrennier1962 You definitely didn’t go to every game. Big cap. Also, Charlie wasn’t even a good QB for Matt Rhule’s system. Matt ran a pro style system, hence why Jacob Zeno looked so awesome in it. Because he’s a pro style QB. Charlie is just a really tough competitor and will do anything to win! Yes Matt Rhule is the reason why Charlie played well, but it wasn’t because of the system. It was because he believed in Charlie! Larry Fedora didn’t have any idea what he was doing and had no reason to be in the OC this last season. We sucked because of the offensive coaches, not Charlie. And if you watched the games you’d know that!
Uhh seems like the fans being complete dismissed had something to do with it too.
As a Baylor fan I wish him the best and he gave me lots of great memories

As an Oklahoma fan I’m sad to see this. He was a lotta fun to watch even from another teams perspective.
I remember watching the Sugar Bowl. My buddy who’s a Georgia fan texted me saying he hopes for everything Charlie was ok, but was thankful because he knew Charlie was gonna lead the comeback. This kid was very special and made watching Baylor football fun again. I hope he’s able to pop at Utah and get drafted.

He had a few holes in his game. Cant throw accurately deep, cant through more than a few yards on the run, and he had a crap O- Line so he was ran out of the pocket often. Its hard to do well when the defense know they just have to defend the run everytime you take off. If he had a good O-Line and a better Offensive Coordinator he probably wouldve done a lot better, but compared to past Baylor QBs he was much worse.
As a Baylor fan. Sad but true. I thought our fan base was better than that when we gave a standing ovation to the 2017 1 and 11 team but nope. So sad.

Jalen Hurts played great in the 2nd half.
Just to put some of this in perspective, Charlie played 4 seasons at Baylor and that is a big reason that he ranks so high in the record books. Some of the QBs that he now outranks statistically (Seth Russell, Bryce Petty and RGIII) all only played around 2 years of football at Baylor. While Charlie was a great quarterback, calling him better than those three is tough. Had those three played the amount of time that Charlie did, there's not a chance he catches them in the record books.
All of this. I have such respect for Chuck, but having been a student during the RG3, Florence, and Petty years it was absolutely ridiculous the kind of numbers those guys (and even Russell) put up when you consider they only played about 2 years each.
As a Baylor fan from Austin, Charlie has been one of my favorite players for a long time. I’m gonna miss him!

Wishing Charlie the best! I’ll never forget his supreme effort in the West Virginia game in 2017 when he was given the keys. Almost won us the game. My gosh he played so hard for us.

Man even though I’m not a Baylor fan they had a hell of a season last year and fell down hard ever since. You never know who will be the surprise team or the one year wonders.
We expected a down year this year. New coach, corona shuts down spring season, lost majority of starters to graduation and draft, and we overachieved last year. We’ll be alright in a year or two.
I'd say the bad oline play this year and the bad play calling and injuries that held him back this year I appreciate what he's done for baylor though guys really tough and I thank him

Brewer was a clinch quarter back. Although Baylor went 11-3 in 2019, every game was a close win. He has his moments but a lot of off moments.

Charlie Brewer will be enrolled at Virginia Tech next year just like his older brother was. Don't ask me why. I have no clue why he would want to go there but that's where he will be enrolled next year

Note: I never got to see rg3 play in real-time so I can’t rank him
I agree about Seth Russell. He was headed for stardom until the land thieves intentionally destroyed his ankle. He would be in the pros now in the prime of his career if not for ou's despicable action. I firmly believe that.

Utah has Cam Rising and Jackson just transferred to Utah, as well as 4 star recruit in Peter Costelli from California. They actually have 3-4star QBs on the roster and just added brewer. 2 Texas transfers, a high recruit, and now brewer. Rising is a sophomore who started his first collegiate game this year and was doing alright before he separated his shoulder. Jackson was a true freshman this year. UTAH actually probably has one of the deepest QB rooms in all of college football. Brewer definitely has the best shot of being a starter. It's going to be crazy to see who wins the job!

@@Vamp512 it’s a competition thing at Baylor that started in like 2017 they have the players pick the best leaders on the team and those players get to wear a single digit number.
@@ob_huta8190 Matt Rhule did a similar program like that when he was the head coach at Temple. It was called “Temple Tough” if I’m not mistaken
At Baylor, team leaders are voted on by the other players and anyone the team deems deserving gets a single digit. It's a pretty big honor at Baylor.

What went wrong was Charlie’s loss in arm strength combined with a terrible offensive line. If you watched any Baylor games this year, you could see he couldn’t throw the ball 20 yards down field and was constantly running for his life.

I play in the big 12 and at the game(home) he was boo’d and then they chanted for the backup didn’t sound like the first time it’s happened. Probably didn’t feel welcome anymore especially with new staff.

Charlie is a great young man. I think he was worn out, though. this year. He definitely didn't have the same drive and fearlessness as in the prior three years.

I would really be sad to see him ruin his legacy by playing for the steers. There are better places for him to play, which will allow him to keep his fans at Baylor and garner new ones at the new location.

He's a great college Quarterback, he's just not suitable for the NFL, he just doesn't have the size to be a pure pocket passer and his body wouldn't hold up very long with the hits he would take trying to run the ball.
He got sacked like 50 times last Saturday and looked like he wanted to quit on the field.
