Harris Highlights news on any new NCAA game ?
@Sports Predictions I agree
The correct answer on who should be next is Kenny hill
What happened to Johnny Manziel
He with us now that’s what happened wait till we put him on wildcat formation no pun intended
He didn’t make the team better as a passer, his running was what won games.
Sumlin ruined him made him a pocket passer instead of utilizing his true strength
Because he never developed as a passer the end.
kaddo34 Well said
Neither did lamar Jackson but he’s MVP of the league😂
Ryne Sterling check the statistics, you’ll see you’re wrong
Ryne Sterling Lamar devolved a lot as a passer lol
Give me those weapons and I’ll develop as a passer lol
The triple option may have been the best system for him to run considering his average passing ability.
Looking back at it, it definitely was
It's unfortunate Tate's tweet nixed U of A hiring Niumatalolo.
I think he would have torched defenses with that triple option but I think he wanted more passing, nfl don't really go for QBs that play triple option
He wanted to be drafted in the first round instead of winning, that was dumb
No he didn't need something like that. Had they gone with an offense similar to what Jim Tressel or Urban Meyer ran with guys like Pryor and Miller, he would have been a legit heisman contender.
Kevin Sumlin’s offense really hurt him in my opinion watching a lot of UA games the last 2 years
Agreed ran the wrong type of offense for his ability
thats what happens when you hire a retread alcoholic
Or Tate really hurt Sumlins offense
asu won a real nail biter in november 70 7
Hey Blake, great job telling his story. Looking forward to more stories like this.
Swimcrafters Thanks bro!
Turn this man into a wideout or kick returner. BOOM
He is a eagle wide receiver bud
he is shit
Makes more sense as a running back to me, the guy basically played RB in college with as much as he ran. 5'11 217 lbs 366 carries, over 2,000 yards and 18 tds.
KevinSumlin is what went wrong
Because Tate is more of a runner than a passer but he’s a QB
Doug Bonne uk u can develop a player into a passer??? He was there 4 years and didn’t get better at alp
I mean, I would put more blame on Mazzone, but Sumlin wasn't going to help!
- Aggie fan who watched Sumlin's QB "development"
I'd love to see this go into being an entire series about college players who had the potential, but flopped. Kinda like Flemlo Raps' videos, but about college players instead of NFL players
That's the goal hopefully!
@M where is he anyhow?
Philly seems to want to mix it up on offense this year, Khalil is a perfect Swiss Army knife. Wentz, Hurts, Ward Jr & Tate can all be on the field at once. That’s insane, the ball can go anywhere.
MrFlyersfan28 That’s gonna be nuts if they run those guys out there. What an offense they got
Lol, the retards are going to get smoked by Dallas.
Dont forget to throw in Ertz, Geodart, Jeffery, Sanders, Reagor, and D-Jax
Nah. They cut him
Comment was kinda looney anyways. Yea let’s put Lane out at wideout too. He played QB 😂
I do remember like a year ago asking myself "wtf happened to that QB from Arizona who was a Heisman dark horse?"
he ran off a coaching hire that would've made him better in the Navy head coach
Right! I never understood why.
@@RiceDaddy-wo2fy ken N was never the guy after uofa’s president got involved, sumlin was going to get hired no matter what tate wanted
How to lose all your draft cred:
1. lose to Hawaii
Met him at Arizona my freshman year when we had class together and I got to know him and ended up spending some time around him doing projects and he’s a genuine good guy, I knew who he was at Serra and I knew he had the potential to be a star. I told everyone I knew at school to watch out for him but they all blew me off, then that Colorado game happened and the rest was history. I knew he had it in him, I knew he was still the athlete he was in high school. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to develop a passing game like Coach Sumlin wanted to. Still love to watch him and JJ Taylor go to work!
As an ASU Fan, I sure hope Sumlin has a long career with UA lol.
Hahaha same
And I sure hope you still don’t play the fucking Wii
As an ASU alum, I second that motion lol.
lmao that aged well
@@vega3500 good news for ASU fans, we hired a fuckin quarterbacks coach with no actual coordinator or head coaching experience
This gives me Flemlo vibes
Hayden Kay facts!
Hayden Kay He’s my guy
As a U of A student, this is super well done. The 2018 ASU game would’ve been one of the best games I’d ever been to if it hadn’t been so crushingly sad for the Wildcats lol. I was expecting a 9-3 season before 2018 and now I’m just hoping UA wins a single Pac12 game this year and makes a good head coaching hire. Thanks for an unbiased and greatly researched video.
Scott Moran That game went from being the worst game I had ever attended to the best game I had ever attended. I’ll never forget it. Thanks for watching bro!
After watching Sumlin at A&M I can tell you that Khalil's problem was Noel Mazzone. Sumlin was great with Kliff Kingsburry and Jake Spavital at the beginning. Spav was fired for being predictable and Noel was brought in. Noel was responsible for the epic collapse againt UCLA where A&M was up 5 touchdowns and lost by a point. The entire reason that happened was because Kellen Mond did not have any first team reps and had no timing for the receivers. So when Nick Starkel went down Kellen went like 3-25 passing. Obviously without Noel, and the addition of Jimbo Fisher, Kellen has become a decent quarterback in the SEC finishing third in stats behind Tua and Joe last year. For some reason Kevin is ride or die with Noel. If he doesnt break that tie he will not be a head coach much longer.
This should be a series
Carson Siemons Blake is a beast. What a video.
He was never a great passer, and Kevin Sumlin was never a great coach
Spot on
@@HarrisHighlights problem is that arizona recruited him as a QB which is the only reason why he came to arizona, because every other team knew he wasnt a QB
Arizona’s coaching staff fucked him up he had so much potential to be great
Yooo keep up the analysis-focused videos, a great content expansion from just highlight videos imo
Thank you so much! I'm glad people have been enjoying them!
His first mistake was that he picked to go to Arizona
Do josh adams. Same happened to him
It is kind of different. Josh Adams in 2017 had an amazing year unlike tate this year. Adams play was not the reason he went undrafted it was just medical that just ruined his draft stock
Great video man! Would love to see more videos like this!
The20gage Thanks man! Got plenty coming
More of these bro great vid
TW W Thank you bro!
Seeing this breaks my heart, going to UA this man was the biggest thing on campus after Coach Rod left we been shit
Damn shame
we are a basketball school ever since tomey left. unfortunate but thats the case
Love this video!
Justin Rombough Thanks man!

Harris Highlights are you interested in doing any what if videos
You are a TRUE ASU guy. I LOVE the shade. You know how we love our 40-21 stories haha. We’ve probably been to a lot of the same games.
I think a lot of it was coaching. Rich Rodriguez was an expert at utilizing running QBs (Pat White, Denard Robinson, etc). It's no surprise that Tate's best season was the one year he had with RichRod.
Tulane went undefeated with a passing qb named Shaun King
Who got drafted high
Under Rich Rod
"Runs like an RB, hits like an LB"
Hilarious tagline aside, who doesn't say "running back" in their head. If someone ever told me how good they were at "Are-Bee", I'd assume they were having a stroke
They make really good roast beef sandwiches I guess
An running back
As an asu fan at that game, I'll never forget that 2018 territorial cup 😊
Van Leeson Awesome game!!
You could look at the best ASU v UA games of all time? That’d be super cool to see
As a arizona student I was so sad these past 2 years
I can imagine lol
Great video bro! Keep up the great work! Also, Go Sun Devils!
Go Devils!!
Fuck ASU
@@chrisburruel3019 Agreed. The only acceptable answer.
Love these vids man !
Thanks bro, glad you enjoyed it!
Kevin Sumlin
Yeah he almost destroyed Kyler Murray as well
Noel Mazzone
I enjoyed this💯
Isaiah Nieves Thanks boss✊🏼
Good video bro 💯
Tad Brittain Thanks boss!
He also had a ton of injuries in his junior season
Great video, even from an ASU fan lol
Haha, thank you!
i live in tucson and have been a life time UA fan, it was really sad seeing his downfall, it was just bad timing as rich rod got fired, i loved watching him
Zack Puglia I’m sure Wildcats will be upset about losing out on the potential of this one for a long time
What it really bad timing on Arizona Firing RR? Allegation didnt prove shit or was it that they wanted him out as Arizona HC? What RR did for Arizona was the best 6 year stretch they ever had since Tomey.
Going to those first games in the 2019 season was the best way to start my freshman year of college. we torched northern arizona at home. but i got too drunk to go to the washington game and it was like a sign of what was to come.
The perfect representation of the season hahaha
He was electric when he was healthy. Definitely a what if situation.
You should do a video on how Ryan Perrilloux’s dismissal from LSU lead to 10 years of poor qb play/handling by the program
As a ASU fan i love this video!
Alex Martinez Go Devils 🔱
How did Tate "give us one of the single greatest performances by a starting quarterback" in a game he didn't start?
I wondered what happened to him, remember on the Harris highlights show when you guys were so hyped about him
Troy& Jay Juhn As ASU fans we thought we were screwed lol
Great video!
Cole Adams Thank you my guy!
Those Arizona unies are so clean
I love em
Answer: Kevin Sumlin
He was a running back if anything he went undrafted because he wasn’t a quarterback.
As a Purdue fan we played him at the end of that crazy freshman year. Luckily we got the W. It seems like playcalling killed him. You gotta call to your player's strengths. Khalil Tate wasnt a good enough passer to scare teams. It's no surprise that his 5 TD passing game against Purdue came because they were so scared of his legs. Forcing a running QB to be a passer just doesnt work
That game was nuts. His best passing game by far. But you're right, if you take out his run game, you can easily beat them
I really think it would have been better for his NFL chances had he switched positions in college. We all saw that his passing was not next level caliber, but he is an elite athlete.
Mr Clean I think that’s while he’ll be able to crack an NFL roster. He’s too athletic. He’ll make it work somehow
He didn’t want to run the triple option but would literally be the perfect player for it
Bro kinda new to the channel and currently watching like every video. Fantastic channel and video ideas . I'm die hard bama fan. Yes before 09. I was always die hard even when bama went 3-9, whole family is born and raised that way.
Hitting like on all vids and trying to support. Roll tide !
Video IDEA ! TYRONE PROTHRO! Amazing Alabama receiver ! Carried bama in 04, and in 05 bama was 5-0, playing 5-0 florida . He got injured In a gruesome way. While bama was up 31- 0 AND he was literally in the process of catching another touchdown pass that he dropped cause of his injury. Never played again . It's a horribly sad story that I'd be interested to see what you dig up.
I imagine alot of views for this bro.
Thanks for watching bro, welcome to the channel! And thanks for the idea, I'll definitely look into it
@@HarrisHighlights if you do it and shout me out my life will be complete ! Haha that's something I would show everyone I met probably! 🤣
Bro ur background music at the end of ur video is very nostalgic
NCAA 12!
Do something about the 2016 Houston team
It's probably more interesting to include the whole Tom Herman at Houston saga 2015-2016
He was great. The game is brutal. His 2 predecessors, Anu Solomon and Brandon Dawkins, both transferred (*Baylor & Indiana) and both were injured to the point of quitting the game. The case against "Rich-Rod" upset the team and fans. Tate and the Wildcats had to deal with a new coaching regime and haven't been winning under Sumlin. Good luck in the NFL, Tate - I think he'll play and play well. Tate is a very gifted athlete ... still.
What about doing a video on Connor cook from Michigan state
That game against CU was really a shoot out between Khalil Tate vs Phillip Lindsay
It was a damn good matchup
@@HarrisHighlights Yeah I was with a buddy at a bar watching the game. Next to us a man from Arizona. All of us were in awe in what we were watching, and some good friendly smack talk.
Went out to Tucson to see my Ducks get crushed by Khalil in 2018. Had a chance to see Tate after the game, great guy w great respect even in my Ducks jersey! Really wish him the best in the league
iAmRicharddd Still shocked on how badly Arizona beat em down that season
Harris Highlights not sure what arroyo was thinking that game lmao but AZ was definitely on another level that night offensively & defensively
He didn’t want to learn a new offense
For what it’s worth, pretty much every time I went out to the bars in Tucson (i’m a student at U of A), I saw Khalil even on nights before games. Seems to me he liked the attention more than working to get better
That's interesting
Nice vid, saw this guy live completely change a blowout to a close game against usc and he nearly did it. Was wondering what happened to this guy
- issdeej - That was a great game
As a wildcats fan, people don’t understand how big 4 consecutive wins really is.
If you still live in Arizona, you should come out and be on our show!
I remember watching Khalil a few years ago and he was so exciting. Sucks the offense he was in, injuries surmounted, and not having any talent around him led into not much production after that.
It really does
Do anthony Gordon next, same draft year and put up crazy numbers nobody cared about
As an Arizona alum I've watched Tate in person and on TV. The starting point for his downfall was the Rich Rod scandal (look into it) that forced UofA to fire him. UofA's personnel was entirely set up to be a run-heavy offence. In fact only the Triple option teams ran for more yards per game. The O-line was not built for pass protection. When Sumlin and Malzone came in and wanted to go more pass heavy, Tate's biggest flaw was discovered. He was only thought to be a good passer because the threat he tucks and runs gave him ample opportunities to hit wide open receivers. Once he had to pass on the reg, we all saw he is inconsistent. Through his time at UofA, Tate was better throwing on the run rather than in the pocket but the coaches wouldn't let him do that and Tate was too arrogant to do it instead focusing on himself trying to prove he could be a pocket passer Look at what happened with Grant Gunnell when he replaced Tate as the starter. Gunnell is a pocket passer, pro style QB. That's Sumlin's and Malzone's bread and Butter. Arizona's pass game improved with him at the helm.
Right. It's just a damn shame all around because of the overall talent surrounding that group
You gotta do a story on Reggie vs Vince for Heisman back in 05-06 and how they eventually met in the CFB NC game at the Rose Bowl.... How they performed during the season and how the draft went.... That would be legit
That's a great idea
@@HarrisHighlights Being a Longhorn fan, I relive those ol Glory days all the time and that was one of the best CFB seasons of all time.... USC blew out ou in the orange bowl/NC the year before and were looking for a three peat, but the mighty VY ended all talk of a three peat with his heroic performance against the Trojan Dynasty..... Hook 'em Horns🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Kevin Sumlin happened. Hes an Air Raid coach which is also what went wrong at A&M. The pure air raid doesn’t work in the SEC which is why he failed. Tate is a running QB without much passing ability like Sumlin needs so it didn’t work out at all
Exactly
Wow this is new. I like it
Thanks, Daniel! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
After his sophomore season he spent the summer in LA training with a former NFL player who told him, "Do you want to win the Heisman or make millions dollars in the NFL? Teams want players that can throw." So he abandoned the run to show prospective NFL teams that he could pass, problem is he couldn't. There were even rumors he was checking out of designed QB run plays to pass.
Good video memory Khalil Tate QB
Saw him play at Serra
As a current UofA student, it wasn’t a Tate game until he threw a game changing interception. We just wanted him to run, but he stopped running 😔
Hahaha as an ASU fan I'm actually bummed he didn't turn out to be great. Would've made those matchups that much better
Props to their team president for letting the players speak their mind
Do a take on Pat White from West Virginia
You went to that UA ASU game in Tucson too? It was a great game, I was going for UA but gotta have respect for asu coming back from 19 late
Yup! My buddies and I decided last minute to drive 90 min from Tempe to Tucson for the game. One of the greatest games I've ever been to
Harris Highlights same! I drove 2 hours from Peoria, took a friend and my brother to see the game. I went to two college football games that year, this one and the fiesta bowl between LSU and UCF which was also a great game just not as good as the territorial cup.
You picked some good ones to go to that year! I always wanted to go to a Fiesta Bowl when I was at ASU
Harris Highlights it was definitely a memorable year especially being my first ever college games
I was at The HAWAII game, if he made it in the endzone that last play he would’ve been back. That play would have been too big for his confidence to just have a subpar senior year, the way he ran through Hawaii’s defense the whole crowd lost their wind😂😂😂. When he didn’t make it in everyone was like whew 😅
Instead of installing a new offense, Sumlin and Mazzone should have stayed with the Read Option offense that was so successful. Then, they could have slowly installed a new offensive look. Too many changes too soon. Plus Sumlin couldn't recruit, so the team lost confidence...
Exactly.... how do seriously limit him to a few run plays a game?
Sumlins offence put a leash on the wild animal that was Tates running game
They really did
Great video as always. He was electric, but I couldn’t really root for him after he blatantly flopped for a penalty and then stepped on/walked on an oregon player on the ground 😂
WTD Productions That game was wild
yeah this guys legs really gave a huge favor to this team but its good to see him sign as a free agent with the Eagles but he wont be @ the QB position he will be playing wide receiver
He looks like a more raw Lamar Jackson
Lamar could actually throw the ball
@@ericlane2249 lamar honestly wasnt a great passer in college though. he had arm strength but not great accuracy, but tate has a terrible decision making, go back and watch the games after sumlin was hired, dude ran out of bounds 6 yards behind the line of scrimmage whenever he got pressured
He is now an EAGLE
I do hope He finds some success in the NFL
Same here
those AZ unis were fire
I liked em!
the offensive scheme that noel mazzone runs vs rich rod runs is night & day, tho they are both spread schemes the passing game scheme from rich rod uses is very elementary level and limited while noel mazzone pass game scheme is similar to the air raid so the read progressions is totally different plus he has very poor throwing mechanics and his footwork was very inconsistent which ultimately effected his play
I agree
The ironic thing is that he probably would've thrived in an offense centered around some kind of triple option-RPO hybrid. Should've shut his mouth about coaching hires.
He would've likely been better under the coach he DIDN'T want, which is crazy
Do Jaelen Strong
it was being on the cover of Sports Illustrated- a curse on many careers.
Like it or not, he would have developed into the Arizona version of Pat White had Rich Rod not been fired.
Bro I only knew this dude for being on cookie boy madden 20 dolphins rebuild
Situations like this is why so many people were skeptical of Lamar. People will complain for a multitude of reasons as to why he was underrated but the truth is QB's like him are just risky. Jackson made it work in the end but they can easily turn into this.
Kevin Sumlin happened, dudes a QB killer
