    Blake was at ASU my freshman year playing there (I played in that 2017 Spring Game, Im #46 that comes into frame @ 4:46 ). He was a great dude and a class act, super talented. Honestly, we didn't run the right scheme for him to be successful. Our offense was based on a run & gun spread style of passing and he needed a more pro-style, play-action based offense. I think he would've excelled at a school like Stanford or Northwestern where his athleticism was just a bonus & he wouldn't be asked to throw on the run so much.

    Barnett was notorious for having a large ego at Alabama and Arizona State. He was widely considered by many of the students he shared classes with to be a massive jerk and likely didn't mesh well with the locker room at ASU and Alabama. He got injured in his first season with USF as well. He had to have shoulder surgery due to it after the season and it came out in his play. In addition to his first ankle injury in his second season the team was moving towards an offense that was going to be focused around then True Freshman Jordan McCloud who was significantly more athletic than Barnett. The bad ankle injury was a result of him playing on an already damaged ankle and what really put the nail in the coffin for him.
    Alot of people also think that Barnett was never really as talented as he was listed due to the level of talent he played against in high school and rather he was a rich kid that went to the right camps. Having watched all of his games at USF there were definitley moments when he would wow you with his arm but he just seemed like a guy who never really had the chance to develop due to him constantly hopping systems.

      @blord1205 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@KordellCaldwell I can only say from what people have told me. I don't know where you shared a locker room but it seems alot of this occurred while at Alabama with him interacting with normal students. From what I've read from a few different people he'd walk around campus and whenever personally slighted he'd hit people with the, "Do you know who I am?" and similar behaivor. He may have been completely different in the locker room and frankly wouldn't be surprised if he was a good guy there.
      I personally think if this story is true he was just a young guy who let it all go to his head. I've personally met him a few times when he was at USF and he seemed like a nice enough guy to me.

    I’m still not sure what happened and why his Alabama career was derailed. He didn’t play great against USC, but considering how raw Jalen was at throwing the ball down field, I still think Barnett would have had a shot at the starting job if he’d stuck with the process and not transferred. But that’s just me speculating. I’m glad he’s okay and healthy. Maybe he’ll get a shot at the XFL when it comes back next year.

    Continue to look at the Elite 11 QB that came in first or second in the competition. There are some really interesting stories there. Quite a few are similar to Blake Barnett. Also, the number one ranked QB's that went to USC expecting to be groomed into Superstars and where it didn't pan out. Look at how many #1 Quarterbacks coming out of high school don't amount to much football-wise in college or the professional ranks in the National Football League. Andrew Luck was ranked #3 coming out. That's not uncommon either. What is that about?

Jalen came out and was composed, which the team needed at that time. Blake got back in the game once the game was decided and of course he looked comfortable. That too was noticed by the announcers. Saban said the same thing at halftime of the game. It later came out that Jalen had outplayed Blake in the spring and that Saban still wanted to give him a shot which he lost. That supports what happened when he went to other schools, he wasn’t a 5* talent.

    This is what happens to QUITTERS. Gets recruited by the GOAT then pitches a fit and leaves when he doesn’t start. Instead of growing old looking at all his championship rings, now he gets to grow old wishing he’d stayed at BAMA. Would’ve played the same amount of NFL ball either way. Jalen Hurts played it straight and now he’s with Philadelphia. Hard lesson to learn, Blake.

    • @xdgaming70

      Easy. Started off at ND, starter in 2017, his passing ability wasn’t great so backup Ian Book became the starter and Wimbush lost his job. Wimbush transferred to UCF but never became the starter. He would go out on a Knights team that had a top 5 offense, 10 win season (3rd straight), and ended his career on a bowl win.
