The BAYLOR SUPERSTAR Who GOT SCREWED...

  • Baylor had produced a ton of star WR's over the years, but K.D. Cannon is a name that is always forgotten. He was a five star recruit coming out of high school and had a great 3 year Bear career, but he never saw a snap in the NFL, so what happened? Enjoy!

    He is one of the greatest mysteries in college ball. I have rarely, if ever, seen a guy with his production, with his athleticism, not even get drafted. It's completely insane. This is the type of kid that would have benefited from NIL, not a lot of these a-holes now that are me first and get into trouble.

    • @saustinspeaks

      I went to Baylor, I saw him play for 2 years. Hell of a playmaker, but he really struggled with drops, never blocked anybody, and he always looked kinda awkward when he was running. He was also rumoured to have attitude problems. I think he should have gotten drafted, but not very highly.

  • @thesupervisor3270

    He has nothing to be a shame about. I wished I made it to what he did. He had a great high school career and a great college career. He was successful. It’s 1000s of high school athletics that didn’t do what he did so bless him

  • @shinerdrinker9249
    @shinerdrinker9249 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    Well, he had stones for hands and you need to learn to actually run more routes than slants and gos. Receivers in Briles's offensive system don't run routes, they just run to open spots in the field. Decent defensive backs figure this out very quickly and when you get into the NFL, they have pretty good defensive backs. Wasn't his fault, he just picked a poor offense, same thing goes for Leach's offense. But at least in that offense, small, quick underneath receivers can find open spots and play in the NFL for a few years. If they can get open, KD Cannon could just outrun people and in the NFL, they can compensate for that.

      @blake7871 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If by "poor offense" you mean an offensive system that doesn't translate to the NFL, I agree totally. If you mean it was just a poor offense in general, I completely disagree. They finished #1 in total offense five years in a row I think.

    • @dwpagliari
      @dwpagliari 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@blake7871 Yes, the comment above by "drinker" is silly as is this ridiculous vid. It's always a shock to see the stupid content that gets views on the internet.
      Cannon had a lot of injs - they weren't the kind that knock you out for yrs - so typical fan doesn't notice - but groins, knees - all kinds of stuff on his legs - the NFL doesn't like this - and I think it reduced his speed some. He's not a big guy _ strong - but not big .. so a problem. nfl is the a very small % of the best players.
      As for Briles - his offense is genius and has changed all of football. It is based on Space more than Timing. So again, the avg fan - commentator - media person - think that this is just running around playing backyard football. The pass spread based on space (Mouse R&S - Air Raid - Neumeir R&S which combined w/ Gillman/Coryell/Gibbs/Martz WC spread attack to form Pro Spread - etc...) actually comes from the idea of backyard football - but at this point in football evolution - IT IS FAR MORE THAN THAT -and is now being incorporated in the League by wco gurus Shanahan,LaFleur, McDaniels , Slowik.
      There is a strategy to what Briles is doing that incorporates the WHOLE FIELD and gives FREEDOM to his players and makes the Defense wrong almost every time. THATS WHY IT WORKS SO BRILLIANTLY and would work at every level.
      I believe if Cannon didn't have injuries - he would have made the NFL in some capacity - though one idea in this above comment is correct - he would have had to adjust to all the timing routes in the NFL -- but I believe he had the maturity and ability to do so and now the NFL is becoming more flexible - incorporating different ideas in their rigid mindsets - and cannon would have had that shot.
      but woulda couldas - the nfl or any pro league is a tough one to get into. Talent - injs - attitude all play a role. And it is a massive club membership that's hard to break in. Once you are out - good luck. That's why its so hard for alternate league players to get in - no matter how well they play. They have to play wayy better than their competition - the practice squad regulars - do have a shot...

    KD played with my brother in highschool and he did not listen to instructions. Couldn’t take coaching and refused to learn. He perceived himself as the best and that was his downfall. Talent doesn’t mean much if you can’t listen to coaches. That’s why he was waived from all nfl teams. Just a little insight

  • @yungcash667
    @yungcash667 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There were 2 major reasons why he never made it in any pro league
    1. He couldn't run a route to save his life. His entire career at Baylor consisted of slants and verticals. His elite athleticism was what made him better than everybody but briles receivers were never taught routes and this hurt him more than anybody because we exclusively used him as the run down field and catch an 80 yard pass WR.
    2. He has a horrendous attitude. He knew he was the best on the field and he would be sure to tell everybody on the field constantly even after getting flagged multiples times for it. He was known as a hot head and I heard several reports in several NFL camps that he was pretty much uncoachable. As we now know Briles didn't really coach and just kinda let the players do what they wanted for good or for worse.

      Quick question, since you are a cowboys fan you might be the best person to answer it. Do Cowboys want Kellen Moore as head coach eventually or do they hope that Mike Mcarthy uses high end talent to win superbowl? Cowboys are a team that I think have the brightest future with its roster right now

    • @dsbeats5657
      @dsbeats5657 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As of late I don’t want Kellen as our head coach because he is too inconsistent right now in the future maybe but right now Mike McCarthy is actually doing a pretty good job and we we are winning games that we would usually lose if like for example probably the patriots game we would lose with Jason Garrett or any game that’s like a one score game that we would probably lose . Yes I do think the Cowboys have one of the best rosters and honestly we don’t get appreciation for how good we are at drafting honestly we haven’t really had any real bust except taco Charlton and I guess LVE so yea i think this team is set for the future .

    Their are 1596 slots in the NFL per year.Every prep player star will not pan out in college.Also
    the game pace,speeds,and demands steps up
    each level you advance . So why the choice of
    title !? Unless you coach the Senior Bowl week

    Sorry to say I don’t think he got screwed. He was a sloppy route runner. Probably didn’t interview too well and was considered to be lazy in practice. You can be good in college based off your raw ability but to make an nfl squad you have to be special in so many ways. You have to practice like you’re actually playing the game. He wasn’t that big either I think like 5’11” 182lbs. There is a ton of KD Cannons that put up stats all through college but never sniff even suiting up for an nfl game. The NFL is the cream of the crop and you basically get 3 years to prove you belong if you’re drafted. If you’re not drafted you had better make an impression every single snap at practice, you had better know th playbook inside an out. You get what you deserve when it comes to the NFL. Another guy I think you will see potentially flame out even if he does get drafted is Kayshon Boutte out of LSU. I don’t think he has an NFL caliber attitude to be in the league. Probably will be XFL bound sooner rather than later

    I don't know what he is doing now.
    I don't know why his store flamed out, it's aimed out, but I have theory.
    How many of these kids do you see see who are for whatever reason dissatisfied with school and decide to try to make the jump to the NFL?
    Think of Maurice Clairette, Johnny Manziel, Jevan Snead, and countless others.
    I knew 2 of those guys, and neither one of them were emotionally prepared to leave college.
    So many of these young kids are lured away by agents with by agents with promises of big bucks, endorsements, and many other things but they fail to understand that this is a very competitive business and that there is always someone out there who is better.
    Just my 2 cents.
