Jimmy just casually filling all the missing bass in, and the rhythm guitar, while he lets the bass player shine on the mandolin. It's like four melodies at once; amazing.

I had the privilege of seeing Zep perform this song at Madison Square Garden in June 1977. The entire show was a highlight but this song really stood out. It was magical.

I thought that the guitars remind me of Indian music, and now read that it's actually a guitar and a mandolin! It's probably the way he plays the mandolin here, sounds a bit like sitar to my ears

I wish you'd listen to the original studio recordings first and then go on to the live concerts. The music is far more intricate with both Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones often playing multiple instruments that they cannot do on stage.

its a beautiful song, and 75 was roberts WORST year ever vocally! he had an operation in 73 and his voice was trashed for a while. its been getting better ever since though. he has lost that INSANE top end and power though
so you want to air guitar now nobody can play like Jimmy and well the rest is history....
