In my opinion The Greatest Rock Band ever. You had one of the greatest voices, guitar players, bass players , and drummers all in one band. Let alone never played any song the same way twice, was always about the feel.
I saw Led Zeppelin in concert in 1969 and 1970. In the 2nd of those concerts they did this song. They are electrifying in person.

Jimmy Page's guitar is unearthly. Robert Plant's vocals are supernatural. John Bonham's drums are exalted. John Paul Jones keyboard mystical. Together, the band of the Gods.
Also, this is one of the best live blues performances of all time.

Zeppelin toured with a choirmaster organist, multi-instrumentalist, first-call session bassist, conductor and arranger, too. His name was/is John Paul Jones.
For example when you hear mandolin on a Zep song, it's JPJ playing.

Yep, LZ merged blues and rock, blues was their main influence in the early days. Later they seemed to take a lot more of an experimental folk-rock approach.
Fun fact: the very beginning guitar part was taken from Jeff Beck's intro for The Yardbirds 1966 song 'New York City Blues'. Jimmy Page joined The Yardbirds that very same year! Him and Jeff were friends since early teenage years.
Some claim the song was also heavily inspired by the band Moby Grape's 1968 track called 'Never' which is a very similar style and also contains some identical lyrics. The band have always had allegations of plagiarism, and in some cases may be true but I think it was more that they wore their influences on their sleeves, but always made the songs their own.

As a teenager in the 70's, we were always playing some Zep. I feel very lucky growing up with this music.

Was at all the shows at M.S.G 1973. First time seeing them i belive it was 1970. Saw them like 17 times.
Saw them in San Diego in 77. Had some decent blotter, started sparking in line… nothing like it before or since .
Just the best of the best, honestly,all their songs are fantastic!

In 1969, in concert at Montréal I saw 2 times LZ, and in the newspaper the day after the show, a journalist have write about the performance of Robert Plant, «only Janis Joplin have could be able to make a sensuel singing performance like the one Mr Plant ». Their show was simply sublime. Sorry for my English, I am a french fan of LZ since this time. Merci Daniel de St Émile de Suffolk, Québec 👋👍

I remember in the early 70s we thought this was quite entertaining for pop music.
I was fortunate enough to get to see them live in concert, performing about five songs off of every Led Zeppelin album, including this song!
Saw them 2 times back to back nights at the Garden next night at Nassau Coliseum. Same seats same result.... Perfection......

That's great live version of Led Zeppelin. You have to listen to the studio version of "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You'" and "Stairway To Heaven". You won't be disappointed with any Zeppelin song. One of the best bands of all time!
