Here’s my latest grounded guide: th-cam.com/video/gRHTBubqguw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uEqKbbzWfOwoWw5h
Also if I missed a spot let me know in the comments 😀
@ChaosBearGaming yea of course
What about the pagoda?
@@jeronymod5285 that’s a really good spot as well, but I felt like it was in everyones top base location video. I was trying to showcase different areas to provide more variety. However, looking back at it, I feel like I should have just made the video a little longer and I included things like the Pagoda and on top of the shed. That’s definitely a great place. Thank you for calling that out.
@@ChaosBearGaming i see was just wondering because normally u see them in this kind of video
@@nick_coles_art thank you.
One area i like to build is the little toadstool grotto with the partially submerged can just outside the Undershed. Lots of resources close by, generally undisturbed aside from the occasional fire ant worker and a great staging area for the Undershed and the Javamatic.
Oh that’s a great suggestion. I will have to go
Check that out. Thanks for sharing. It’s awesome seeing all these other great places that the community shares.
My top 3 base locations:
- soda can next to the tree - You can build support from underneath the can so it slightly sticks through and you can easily then building within the can. The perk is that bugs cannot destroy anything
- The board game castle on the table - you can add a floor if you want, but can also add ceiling to block off flying bugs. You then have a pretty huge, cool looking base and you can add floors on top. The ceiling can be destroyed by bugs tho.
- milk molar bottle on upper yard - indestructible base, you can easily build it so that no parts are sticking out and you don’t suffer from any raids. I have a 3 story base inside with everything you might need. The only downside is that you have ladybirds, ox beetles and fire ants that are difficult at first, plus you need level 3 axe to get inside. But once you level everything up, it’s perfect and bugs are easy to deal with.
I totally forgot that soda can had the underneath section where the molar is. That’s a really good call. Also, the maze would be a fun spot, a little spooky at night if you don’t know the statues locations 😂, but great natural protection for sure. I don’t think I’ve ever considered/looked at the milk molar bottle. Definitely checking that out tomorrow. I really appreciate you taking the time to make such a detailed write up and sharing great spots based on your experiences. Thanks for sharing 😀
I’ve been building in the soda can glad I’m not the only one
@@user-fj9xo7yy5h yeah they are great natural protection and easy for an early game home make over 😂
I liked building on the western garden posts next to the oak tree. Research station on ground near the entrance and building alot the tops can give you easy access to the far side of the yard. It's also very defendable been up high and doesn't require much build to get up top to begin construction
I have always looked at those and considered building there. I know it used to be a very popular spot before spiders could jump like olympians 😂
Straight to the point I love it!
great video, btw
Awesome, thank you so much, I am glad you liked it.
Definitely going to try out that cliff side one, that looks awesome.
Thank you, and glad I could give some new locations
1:53 I like the sound of this one under the picnic table a lot of space and save from most bugs
Yeah it’s quite spacious and very safe. As long as that bee being passive near the back of the table statement stands up 😂
@@ChaosBearGaming yes I know what you mean haha, I build around the whole oak tree and it took me so long
@@TheGamesMenUK I tried it in creative so I could count the resources needed in a fast manner, and I think to build around the oak tree with just 1 floor that was 3-4 tiles wide, it was roughly 600ish planks.
On location 14 there's actually a wolf spider that patrols that way sometimes or at least it does on me and my friends world
Oh that’s good to know. I must go to bed early enough to where I don’t see it or I am not around when it’s too late. Thanks for sharing that.
There’s a big rock at the end of the stumps near the stink bugs and bombardier beetles if you build on top of it then make a spiral staircase you could zip-line to the upper yard and the tree, it can’t be attacked by ground bugs which is a plus, I’m gonna run around next time I play and try to find more good spots because I’m curious now
I think I know what rock you are talking about. I will have to go check out it though just to make sure. Thank you for sharing that.
Me and my mate built it in the pagoda thing in the pound, It is great location nothing can get to if you use ziplines and you can build floors with walls as well
That’s a great place. I think the only thing that can get you there is the raids from flyers. But you would probably be well prepared by the time a raid like that happened 😂 it’s definitely one of the most scenic for sure. Also the research station is a huge plus.
@@ChaosBearGaming that’s exactly what we do, and to be honest if it’s any flying raids we just reload to save and it normally doesn’t happen
@@freddysw that’s a good call out for the raids. Yeah I have been meaning to make a glorious base there. Too many great places to build 😂
Fantastic video dude :)
Thank you so much
Next to the fruit carton on the pond is my spot every time 😂
Thats one of my favorite spots, that’s why I built that big base there 😂 thanks for sharing.
Same! I just love that it's a large enough surface, it's right by the water, and it's one of the most flat surfaces to build on in the game!
I don't know why I defaulted to this location since day 1.. but for some reason I can't seem to justify building really anywhere else!
@@SuperHonkyPodcast yeah it’s a nice to little scenic place. I wish every piece of water wasn’t loaded with mosquitos lol 😂
what about on top of the compost? I know I had a blast building there. There are 2 green shield bugs there but you can get rid of them very easy and you can have ziplines to almost anywhere in the entire yard without making a zipline tower. To me one of the best in the game and you can do a lot since there is much space.
That was my #16 and I had it in the list, but I removed it. I removed it because I thought some might be concerned about the Beatles and the fact that they respawn. Of course late game it’s pretty easy to deal with them. I agree with the fact that’s it’s one of the base locations for ziplines for sure. Good call out.
@@ChaosBearGaming I love the compost for late game. The shield bugs actually don’t respawn, or at least they didn’t respawn when I killed them and built there.
Below the bin is a bit dangerous tho. You have a wolf spider, wasp nest, and annoying fire ants lol
Me and my buddy built inside a glass bottle. In the upper yard, North East of the map, along the rock wall, there's a blue bottle cap in the flower bed. If you go under the cap, there's a tunnel that, if you follow the cave, comes to a half buried glass bottle.
If you build away from it's edges, your base is quite literally impregnable.
That sounds awesome. I feel like I know which one you’re talking about, but I’ll need to double check. Thanks for sharing that location.
@ChaosBearGaming There's a pink juice carton on the rocks next to a tree. I think it's roughly 130 cm West/ North West of that carton.
Sorry I can't be more specific
@@beircheartaghaistin2332 I am sure I can find it. I Just need to get off work so I can go exploring lol 😂
@ChaosBearGaming Correction. It was a pink cassette tape and a soda. NW of there.
Also. We had a Ladybug spawn in the bottle... dunno if it'll be consistent 😂
@@beircheartaghaistin2332 thanks for clarifying. That would be funny to see 😂
As someone who sucks at base building, I appreciate knowing some good spots with helpful tips sprinkled in. The infected wolf spider life is not for me.
Oh that’s awesome to hear. I am glad the video helped. Yeah infected wolf spiders are painful… 😂
Most of these bases are not where I thought they would it's not ideal, but the stump is pretty good to
The stump is definitely one I should have considered. Thanks for pointing that out.
7:13 if you build right under this rock where the black ox beetles are if you put clay to stop them from responding that’s a good place where no enemies can get to you
Does it permanently stop them? I know for example when you block off the oak tree you still get wolf spider spawns and eventually they get out of the area and can roam again. But that does look like a really nice place to build.
@@ChaosBearGaming I haven’t tested it myself so I don’t know for sure
That’s fair, well either way, thanks for sharing about the good spot below as well.
@@ChaosBearGaming no problem 👍
You gotta try to make a floating base up in the air. I got one over by the tree but it’s not touching the ground in any way other then zip lines, lets you make bases that can be like planes just up there in the sky
I had no idea you could even do that. That sounds awesome. Would air raids cause them to break? Or what stops it from falling apart when something breaks?
@@ChaosBearGaming I don’t have to worry about raids I have a wafter up there that when I trigger it automatically finishes and resets the raid timer then I have 1 main zip line that connects me to every other corner
@@jacobwhitehead4564 that sounds awesome. I will have to attempt something like that sometime.
for location 14 forgot about the wolf spiders will patrol through that area and come up to the juice box
Someone else mentioned that as well. I guess I had just never seen them because I either went to bed early enough or I wasn’t near my base when it was late. Thank you for that call out.
I got a nice big base on the houses porch ! (Location 6) Big open area and when you do a raid the bugs path findings gets messed up and they take forever to get to me
I’ve been thinking about building there cause of all the space. That’s good to know about the raids. Thanks for calling that out.
Is there a really a good reason to build a base that's overly protected like most of these?
I don't seem to get any problems with random bugs attacking my base. The only time
they do is if I've killed far too many of a certain type and then it does those random event
type raids where a few of them attack.. but it's always super easy to defend. Doesn't seem
like there's any real danger in this game as far as our bases are concerned?
Some people just like To build big bases for fun.
It’s a time investment for sure, but it’s nice coming back and seeing organized storage or a well built house that protects you. Even if it’s just from the sun lol 😂
because technically storage is best placed In the middle of a base so it can be pulled from anywhere within the base. So you don’t want a massive base if that is your goal and the coziness level is also restricted to a specific radius.
Me and my friend had a base near location 11, it was next to the leaf you can use to get on top of the mysterious machine, and we had just got back from the anthill for bombs, and when we got back there was a wolf spider right next to our base, and it attacked us. Me being the tanky one I fought back almost killed it to, when it called in a homie to jump me. Suddenly I faced 2 wolf spiders and an orb weaver, let’s just say that day we slept near the research station
(Edit) another good location is Inbetween the grill and the area where there’s a roly poly, there’s nothing to attack you accept maybe a ladybird larva or 2, and your close enough to the grill and charcoal bag that you can easily get the coaltana
Yeah I stumbled upon that same wolf spider coming back from the hedge for the first time. I got back and was thrilled that I completed some progress. However, I couldn’t sleep because I had slept to late the night before. Then I go to walk into my base and just as I am about to close the door I see the stems shaking outside my base and then got attacked from the sky. That caused me to move my base up the hill a bit 😂 I didn’t know you could find 2 wolfies in that area. That’s crazy lol. That’s a good call out about that second location.
@@ChaosBearGaming it was literally the scariest thing I've ever been through
@@TictacmanRBLXyeah that one got me good. It was like my first jump scare in Subnautica. I will forever remember that spider 😂
@@ChaosBearGaming you ever play on Xbox or just pc, or do you already play on Xbox
@@TictacmanRBLX I just have a PS5 sadly 😂
Missed the bin at the back of the upper yard with the 2 stink bugs on top. Once killed they will never spawn again if u build any thing at there spawn or close to it
My understanding is that they still respawned, but you’re saying you can block their spawns? Does that just work for them or other creatures as well? That was my 16 pick but I pulled it off cause I thought they would respawn every time lol 😂
@@ChaosBearGaming no they don't respawn. Only time they will respawn is if u go to a higher new game pluss..
I think the respawn thing is. If you build in an area where around there spawn location. Then they just no longer spawn. I did some testing with the Waft emitter. To try and cheese the bugs spawning at the oak tree next to the water and managed to make a single file line of black ox. And it worked just fine..
@@wartimewells1592 that’s good to know, thanks for sharing your testing results with me.
A Lilly pad base on the left of the carton. There is a stick that leads to a Lilly pad so if a spider is chasing then it will die in the water
I have heard of the lily pad before but I never knew the spiders died in the water. That’s awesome. Definitely going to take a look at that. Thanks for sharing that.
0:18 problem with the picnic table is bees are aggressive on the picnic table
I think just when you are near the jar. I believe near the back half they should be passive
@@ChaosBearGamingthey’re not :(
Oh no that’s sad, I feel like I’ve definitely been there before and they leave me be at times. I wonder what triggers that aggressive nature. Because it doesn’t always happen.
Once you enter NG+ and bugs become much stronger, most of these bases would not survive a flying creature attack...
That’s true if unprepared. You just have to
Plan ahead for raids and then they can be a lot easier. Or create a smaller base and sleep there immediately after big events like taking out the wasps to trigger their event/questline. And that avoids and damage to your main base.
What’s your personal favorite on this list ?
I am not going to say the tree because I love that thing, but I hate that nothing is more convenient than it 😂😂 number 3 the cliff is great because of the height. And the deck by the haze is also great because of how much building space you have. I am torn between those 😀
Thank you for the video! When I started the game, I built my base on location 5. I have some conserns with that location, I could show it in my world😁 if you give me your dc, and you are also interested, Ill contract you
Yeah there can be concerns with the mosquitoes for sure if they get angry. I currently don’t have discord, but I am working on setting one up for situations like this 😀
@@ChaosBearGaming if you have succesfuly set it up, you can send it to me here. My concerns are not mainly with the mosquitoes. Also it would be great for a base tour video, some people would appariciate seeing other player's ideas. I dont have a megabase, but I have a base with great ideas😊
@@aronhorvath7862 that sounds like a plan. Thanks for the invite and the idea 😀
@@ChaosBearGaming hey. Have you set your discord up? Today would be good for me
@@aronhorvath7862 I have not yet. I am not really familiar with discord so it may be a little bit until I have a public one. So I can better understand the ins and outs of the program. As soon as I do though I’ll definitely let everyone know.
11 is the the exact spot where I have my first base
It really is a great first spot. It’s safe and fairly central.
Try building off the wall of the shed. Nothing can get you there and ziplines can get ya anywhere from there
That sounds like an Interesting spot. I’ll definitely have to check that out. Thanks for sharing that.
@@ChaosBearGaming please do. Became my favorite spot after leaving the tree or the chest.found it by accident running from a wolf spider when I ran up the sticks just above the science station there
@@vrokar1 well thank you for sharing. I’ve learned of so many cool spots from the community that I didn’t even think about 😀 it’s always the accidental things we find in games that are the best 😂
Still havent established a spot. I just started playing today. Really loving it so far tho
Welcome to grounded 😀 and yeah it’s hard to determine where to settle down where there is so much to do and so much to explore. Then you’re afraid you will find something better the moment you get comfortable 😂
On top of the shed
Good call out and thanks for sharing. That’s definitely a good place.
Number 6 is where I built a castle
That’s a good spot lol 😂
I still believe the baseball is the best early game base location
The good baseball, that is true, I’ll need to make another list and include it 😀
@@ChaosBearGaming great video btw. Many great locations that I've not seen anyone cover before
@@jayeshyadav8891 thank you so much, I appreciate it. That was the goal. When I first started playing I remember looking for spots and there was only like 5-10 locations that kept being re used so I wanted to try and find some new ones. And now because of the comments and the community I know of so many more, I could easily make another video 😂
@@ChaosBearGaming looking forward to that new video
So i was building my first proper base and was actually close to 14 on the rock on the water front. Before i could finish building it a wolf spider came along. Jumped in the middle of the 4 walls (hadnt put a roof on yet) it got stuck. I repeatedly stabbed it through the window and defeated it. Only 4 hours into the game so very low level. Nice win for me 😂😂
That sounds absolutely terrifying, but that’s awesome. Congrats on that big win lol. Someone else did mention that they saw one patrol there as well. So I guess I just always slept early enough or wasn’t near the base when the Wolfies were out lol 😂
@ChaosBearGaming yea it crept up on me which scared the hell out of me. And yes I was working through the night to build the base so was caught out. Had me thinking about building traps in the future though.
@@nick_coles_artI have been meaning to test some traps on the spiders. They work great on the ants, but haven’t tested out the spiders. It would be interesting to see what the result ends up being. Those jump scares are brutal lol.
@ChaosBearGaming yea they are terrifying. Pretty quiet aswell for their size. I'm only level 7 but really getting into the game now. What weapon is best for lady bugs. I managed to kill one with an insect hammer but didn't know what is best.
@@nick_coles_art the ant club is best early on. Then any sort of club like the one you get from one of the bosses is good. I don’t want to spoil nothing for you. But smashing types are best for ladybugs. If you peep the creatures it should say the type of weakness they have. Both their weapon weakness and their candy weakness. But I think the ladybug is mainly just weak to clubs.
