King Kevin No there shouldn't be, one person is giving his opinion in this review, when they sit down in a group to discuss the top games the result will always be different because there are multiple people sharing there opinions and agreeing on something. Doing a top list where only one person decides because of the review they did would be inconsistent and very inaccurate.
In the games defense, Den Defense really only happened once and played a very small parts. The story was absolutely fantastic and thought out to perfection. Deserved at least a 9.

Certainly an under appreciated game, story was great and Constantinople was a great setting, hopefully they will set an assassins creed game in Byzantine Constantinople, such a great setting

Meh. AC2 is a little overrated (I'd give it a 9.1) and AC3 and AC4 were weird and clunky in a lot of places. AC3 specifically I thought was deserving of a score in the low 8s, not the higher half. Revelations is my favorite AC game, because although its map was small compared to the two games following, every square foot was meticulously detailed and it was made to flow all but perfectly. There was less running around (the only AC game I've played which made me feel like I could enjoy the flow instead of fast traveling over endless frontiers and oceans full of boredom and nothingness) and more combat and strategy. I even liked the Den Defense RTS-style thing. The amount of "I'm fucked" you felt when the siege engines rolled in was ridiculous. The enemies were chosen and placed smartly throughout the game, and having the ottoman-templar-assassin triangle as well as the assassin recruiting very early on made it feel like you really were a part of something big. You were living up to the adventures of young Ezio, maybe even surpassing them. IDK if you've played Revelations, but I would give it the same score you gave AC2.
Fair points and yeah I have played all of the games I think that I have completed revelations twice maybe 3 times but I haven't played it in a while. Yeah I suppose that I did rate ac3 a bit high but there were lots of things that I liked and preferred over revelations, like the combat as it was actually hard and more realistic, the naval combat was awesome, I loved Desmond missions and most of his side to the story other than the ending and the multiplayer was the first one that kept me playing pretty much all year. In my opinion AC2 still has the best story as I felt that ACB and ACR were both to short and more like add on games although they were good stories, also the den defense in ACR was pointless as you can just kill the guard leading guard way easier than doing all of that shit. For AC4 that I think is the best overall game, the only thing that I didn't like was having to many optional objectives, other than that it was just things that I preferred in other games such as the AC2 story. Don't get me wrong I loved all the AC games and they are my favourite series of games but I just think that a lot of things have been improved since ACR.

The desmond backstory is the best of the entire series, better than 2 in my opinion. The fact that there's no real life story nowadays is the main reason why i don't play assassin's creed games anymore
Revelations is the first Assassin's Creed title I've ever played. And I must say, it was awesome (thought played in barely 25 FPS on low details, because my PC couldn't handle more). As for the Tower Defense, I won't say it's annoying, I'd say it is hard. I did a few, but ultimately tried to stay away from them.

WJ archives I enjoyed Rogue for the most part but not as much as AC3 and Black Flag. I loved having more stealth locations but hated being harassed by those damned Assassins, so that kind of balanced out. And ironically, I *didn't* like the "improvements" in the naval combat so it was really just Black Flag in a new setting with a few annoyances.
Revelatins is my favorite AC game. 1, Revelations 2, AC 2 3, AC Black flag 4, AC 3 5, AC Unity 6, AC Brotherhood Now I am playing AC Syndicate and it s quite good.
Rekin ACIII is my personal favorite of the bunch. Revelations and Black Flag are my personal favorites following that. I thought Unity was alright and Syndicate was a bit disappointing for what it was.

Ryan Lennon If something has no flaws, it's inherently perfect. If it does have flaws, those need to be stated in the review, and/or contrasted with similar mechanics in other games in the series. IGN never does either, so it's hilarious how confusing their review scores can be.
So, i've played and beaten the first one years ago. Was an ok game. Never played any sequels. But, lately I've been wanting to revisit the franchise for story reasons. My question is, "Are the sequels genuinely more enjoyable than the first?". You know, gameplay and story. Or are they just better because of technology? I.e. graphics. Thanks in advance.

I personally felt the story of AC Revelations more memorable than the story of assassin's creed 2, although the AC2 was my first assassin's creed experience. ( those lovely days
My favourite was assassin's creed 1 Because it is the first I played and it brought a new formula to the gaming world and it is the only game that brought Jerusalem the city to life and they did their research to make the city believable Also Altair was an epic character But storywise the one that impressed me the most was revelations and the gameplay was the best of the series Too bad the story drifted a lot after revelations Assassin'a creed never felt the same after it
I liked Revelations, although it did close up everything about Eizo and Altiar. I thought the setting and the characters weren't really that interesting.
I agree, I love the bombs and hookblade but there's barely any side content and when we do get side content it's just so barebones that they didn't even put proper cutscenes or animations. Story is really weak compared to what came before. The Ottoman - Byzantine power struggle has absolutely nothing to do with Ezio or his character, it would still play out even without Ezio in the mix.
I agree the story was the best AC has ever done (even today), and that it had the most enjoyable lairs/temples/whatever you want to call them. But I can't decide what I enjoyed the *most* about this game; I think it was just running all over the rooftops shooting guards with the now even faster crossbow, then jumping on a zipline with my hookblade, and air assaulting the next one ;)
iEATyou The deal with AC2 is that it had *parts* of all the *elements* of a good story, but not the full elements. For example, it shows us his father and brothers' death which makes us hate those responsible (and does that very well, BTW) but then it all just falls into the background like it was forgotten. A flashback or something in the latter half of the game would've been helpful, in stoking the hatred we felt for these villains by the time we were actually killing them. And another example is Cristina. She's introduced as someone who is apparently very important to Ezio, but we never see or hear from her or hear *about* her for the rest of the game! At least Revelations gave us ample time to get attached to a character, before killing/threatening them.
Revelations was a fail for me. There was just nothing truly inspiring about this game. It should've been a DLC or something. Desmond looks so weird in this. And the actor who voiced Altair in the was absoultely horrible. Why change it? Why?
+Jeffrey Romeo The game's *amazing.* The story was moving and told better than all the other AC games put together, the supporting characters were likable and the villains had realistic (believable) motives, the combat was more of a challenge than in Brotherhood (though it was great too), and the A.I. has always been a bit off in the AC franchise but IMO AC: Revelations had the best A.I. The city of Constantinople was actually quite large; it's only because it's slightly smaller than Brotherhood's Rome that people started saying it was small, and the money system was done better than all previous AC games too. And that's not to speak of the several *improvements* Revelations brought to the actual gameplay.
yeah man; syndicate was mediocre, unity was a buggy mess; assassins creed just lost what made it so great lol assassins creed 3 wasn't that amazing either, except for the multiplayer

If more people finished the homestead mission campaign than I feel like ac3 would have gotten a LOT more respect, and even without the homestead missions I think it was still a huge step up for the series and is way too underrated.
+Jaxthefriendly1 also People didn't like Connor, but I did, he was one of my favorite characters because he had depth, and a complex and intriguing backstory that made me feel for him. He was a flawed character, which made a lot of people angry and they didn't like him, but he was supposed to be flawed, Ubisoft did that on purpose to show how the American Revolution and killing of native Americans effected people. He went through so much and kept on going, which made me respect him more than any other ac character, it made him seem real and less one dimensional than other assassins.
For those of you who play this game on the PS3, how bad are the frame rate and screen tear issues? I want to get this game before I get AC3, however I am not sure if the game has the same problems AC:Brotherhood has.

My opinion: 1.Revelations 2.Brotherhood 3.Ac2 4.Blackflag 5.AC1 6.AC3 Revelations was my favorite, I loved the location, and the characters. The story was truly the best, and i really liked how they mixed in Altair's key life points. At this point UBIsoft really perfected the mechanics of the game, but they threw it away with ac3. The parkour was clunky, and honestly the way ac3 was setup made it more logical to run through the streets rather than climb the rooftops. Every game before AC3 was worth exploring, but it just felt bland in AC3. I really enjoyed Haytham's part of the story more than Connor, and i can see why people liked Connor, but I didn't like him too much. The combat system felt really good it was like Brotherhood on steroids, That's what kept me playing AC3, and the small naval combat was great too. The story was okay, but I kept wanting more. Black flag was a great game it was really fun, and i really liked the upgrading system you could do on your ship. Although it didn't feel like an Assassins Creed game until the end I really enjoyed the story and his trials he had to overcome. The combat was step down from AC3, it was awkward, and commands did not register when needed. The parkour was the same as 3 really not much different. The towns were to linear in both 3 and 4 that's why it was logical just to sprint to every location. I'm not on the Ezio trilogy Bandwagon, but UBIsoft did screw up with their new mechanics. I do wish they would stick to one character, or at least make the kenways a trilogy, instead of introducing a character we won't really care about because we are just using them to find pieces of eden or the sages.

AC:R and AC3 are highly underrated. AC2 had a grand story, but there were downgrades like not being able to relive memories. Without BH and R, AC II might not have been such a great game. Ezio added the magic to Assassin's Creed, with his story and personality.
I have played AC2 & Brotherhood, and I am thinking if I should buy this game or not. I have some other games I want to buy, but this is one of them and I feel like I need to play it before AC3. So, my question is, do you think the game is worth buying overall, or should I get Crysis 3 or FC3 instead?

Start from the beginning, play all of them over time as you won't be able to go back after playing the greater titles. Not saying the earlier ones are shit, but you will appreciate them all WAY more that way for what they are
This game keeps freezing at a specific part at sequence 7. Even if I restart the PS3, it'll still freeze, not allowing me to complete the sequence, and the game. I'm already pissed as hell because I can't complete the game now. Somebody please help.
I played this game when it first came out and found it okay. But now after completing one game after the other right up to Revelations, I have to say I found it refreshing and I'm absolutely loving it. I guess tastes change.
If you like Ezio and the structure of the older games, then go with Revelations. AC3 technically speaking is a better game: it has a much larger world overall, and better characters imo. Both games are fantastic, and they are essentially equal. Revelations is far more ambient and mystical, from the Turkish influenced musical arrangements and such. AC3 is far more modern stylistically, and Desmond's story is stronger. AC3 does have the Brotherhood call-in-for-help mechanics of the previous games, but it's no where near as in depth or interesting to me. AC3 also introduced the naval system (which Black Flag built upon very well, as I'm sure you know). Both stories are pretty serious, but different. Ezio is on a quest to uncover the secrets of the Brotherhood, whereas Connor seeks to protect his people (the native american Mohawk tribe), but he must also find a lost key (I won't spoil in case). Both games now are dirt cheap and amazing value for money, I'm playing AC3 again now and it's every bit as good as the new ones, but it is a harder game in terms of travelling and discovering locations as maps are expensive and fast travel isn't great. Hope this helped.

The tower defence game was awesome! And *optional* so you didn't have to play it.
Even then you can just bribe a herald or kill a messenger and get your notoriety down long before the Templars actually attack one of your dens.
and even if you want to do all den defence mission, they are only 3 needed. So 15 minutes of game-play :)))

The Ottoman - Byzantine power struggle has absolutely nothing to do with Ezio or his character, it would still play out even without Ezio in the mix.

So the frame rate on the PS3 version is solid? I have encountered major frame rate issues on AC:B and AC2.
The best thing about this game are rhe missions where ezio set out to find the amulets.they are super fun to play!!And the story was the best so far.
I agree the story was the best AC has ever done (even today), and that it had the most enjoyable lairs/temples/whatever you want to call them. But I can't decide what I enjoyed the *most* about this game; I think it was just running all over the rooftops shooting guards with the now even faster crossbow, then jumping on a zipline with my hookblade, and air assaulting the next one ;)

iEATyou The deal with AC2 is that it had *parts* of all the *elements* of a good story, but not the full elements. For example, it shows us his father and brothers' death which makes us hate those responsible (and does that very well, BTW) but then it all just falls into the background like it was forgotten. A flashback or something in the latter half of the game would've been helpful, in stoking the hatred we felt for these villains by the time we were actually killing them. And another example is Cristina. She's introduced as someone who is apparently very important to Ezio, but we never see or hear from her or hear *about* her for the rest of the game! At least Revelations gave us ample time to get attached to a character, before killing/threatening them.
Revelations was a fail for me. There was just nothing truly inspiring about this game. It should've been a DLC or something. Desmond looks so weird in this. And the actor who voiced Altair in the was absoultely horrible. Why change it? Why?
+Jeffrey Romeo The game's *amazing.* The story was moving and told better than all the other AC games put together, the supporting characters were likable and the villains had realistic (believable) motives, the combat was more of a challenge than in Brotherhood (though it was great too), and the A.I. has always been a bit off in the AC franchise but IMO AC: Revelations had the best A.I. The city of Constantinople was actually quite large; it's only because it's slightly smaller than Brotherhood's Rome that people started saying it was small, and the money system was done better than all previous AC games too.
And that's not to speak of the several *improvements* Revelations brought to the actual gameplay.

+jRex918 ac3 was awesome too many people say it's not, it's underrated. If more people finished the homestead mission campaign than I feel like ac3 would have gotten a LOT more respect, and even without the homestead missions I think it was still a huge step up for the series and is way too underrated.
+Jaxthefriendly1 also People didn't like Connor, but I did, he was one of my favorite characters because he had depth, and a complex and intriguing backstory that made me feel for him. He was a flawed character, which made a lot of people angry and they didn't like him, but he was supposed to be flawed, Ubisoft did that on purpose to show how the American Revolution and killing of native Americans effected people. He went through so much and kept on going, which made me respect him more than any other ac character, it made him seem real and less one dimensional than other assassins.

Revelations was my favorite, I loved the location, and the characters. The story was truly the best, and i really liked how they mixed in Altair's key life points. At this point UBIsoft really perfected the mechanics of the game, but they threw it away with ac3. The parkour was clunky, and honestly the way ac3 was setup made it more logical to run through the streets rather than climb the rooftops. Every game before AC3 was worth exploring, but it just felt bland in AC3. I really enjoyed Haytham's part of the story more than Connor, and i can see why people liked Connor, but I didn't like him too much. The combat system felt really good it was like Brotherhood on steroids, That's what kept me playing AC3, and the small naval combat was great too. The story was okay, but I kept wanting more. Black flag was a great game it was really fun, and i really liked the upgrading system you could do on your ship. Although it didn't feel like an Assassins Creed game until the end I really enjoyed the story and his trials he had to overcome. The combat was step down from AC3, it was awkward, and commands did not register when needed. The parkour was the same as 3 really not much different. The towns were to linear in both 3 and 4 that's why it was logical just to sprint to every location.
I'm not on the Ezio trilogy Bandwagon, but UBIsoft did screw up with their new mechanics. I do wish they would stick to one character, or at least make the kenways a trilogy, instead of introducing a character we won't really care about because we are just using them to find pieces of eden or the sages.

AC:R and AC3 are highly underrated. AC2 had a grand story, but there were downgrades like not being able to relive memories. Without BH and R, AC II might not have been such a great game. Ezio added the magic to Assassin's Creed, with his story and personality.
They ain't in the main franchise.

Start from the beginning, play all of them over time as you won't be able to go back after playing the greater titles. Not saying the earlier ones are shit, but you will appreciate them all WAY more that way for what they are

This game keeps freezing at a specific part at sequence 7. Even if I restart the PS3, it'll still freeze, not allowing me to complete the sequence, and the game. I'm already pissed as hell because I can't complete the game now. Somebody please help.

I played this game when it first came out and found it okay. But now after completing one game after the other right up to Revelations, I have to say I found it refreshing and I'm absolutely loving it. I guess tastes change.

I remember the first time I saw the intro to this review, it felt like a reminder that the end is near for ezio's story
Which one is better ac3 or Revelations. These are the only one which i have'nt palyed yet.
If you like Ezio and the structure of the older games, then go with Revelations. AC3 technically speaking is a better game: it has a much larger world overall, and better characters imo. Both games are fantastic, and they are essentially equal.
Revelations is far more ambient and mystical, from the Turkish influenced musical arrangements and such. AC3 is far more modern stylistically, and Desmond's story is stronger.
AC3 does have the Brotherhood call-in-for-help mechanics of the previous games, but it's no where near as in depth or interesting to me. AC3 also introduced the naval system (which Black Flag built upon very well, as I'm sure you know).
Both stories are pretty serious, but different. Ezio is on a quest to uncover the secrets of the Brotherhood, whereas Connor seeks to protect his people (the native american Mohawk tribe), but he must also find a lost key (I won't spoil in case).
Both games now are dirt cheap and amazing value for money, I'm playing AC3 again now and it's every bit as good as the new ones, but it is a harder game in terms of travelling and discovering locations as maps are expensive and fast travel isn't great. Hope this helped.
