Honestly I think we should get a new character. Desmond had a descent "ending" with Layla at the end of Valhalla (the best thing that game gave us was Layla's ending and Basim). Killing Desmond wasn't the problem imo, not been able to create a new modern day protagonist is.
All these years later and I am still salty about Desmond's mishandling. This storyline had so much potential and they just dropped the ball so bad. Playing as him while going through his ancestors' memories gave me a sense of legacy, actually made me feel the weight of history that was once carried by the likes of Altaïr and Ezio, and that now was Desmond's duty to see things through to the end. Only for him to be killed and sidelined for the rest of the series. First time I got so engaged in a story as well, as if it wasn't bad enough. Other than Game of Thrones S8, I had never been so let down by a work of fiction storywise.
Totally agree Desmond deserved better, and if I remember, to add insult to injury Ubisoft actually made us see Desmond's autopsy photos in Black Flag or Rogue (don't remember well anymore) and the contents of his phone with photos and basically showing what a sweet guy he was. We worked at Abstergo so we sent those files to William Miles and the poor man had a mental breakdown and went AWOL on the Brotherhood. Btw awesome new profile picture! I didn't know you were on hiatus but I just found out Mirage is getting a sequel so I'm waiting for you to post a video about that :D (On the flip side they announced Watch Dogs is cancelled forever so... feeling gutted about that.)
The one thing is that it wasent desmond's character, it was those around him that built desmond's character and how they viewed desmond as this test subject. Making use be more attached to desmond. I would much rather have desmond back. Desmond is much more memorable then layla. But i did actually like desmonds model in AC 3.
Thank you so much for finally addressing this glaring issue with the franchise. I feel like you read one of my comments on your previous videos and I just feel like due to how mishandled yet important Desmond is to the foundation of everything. That nobodys top farvorite assassins in these games list can be truly complete without mention this in my opinion criminally underrated guy
I was so hype to see at some point some concrete form of a relationship between Desmond and Lucy and always hoped Desmond was gonna come back in some godly form. Ubisoft not only brought upon the contagion known as MTX to modern gaming but baited the fuck out of us who genuinely liked the story between AC - AC3. I wanted a series that stretched all the way through. I didn’t like black flag initially because it was some random mc who was going in the animus.
Hello, I’m new to this channel, don’t know where to start. 1. Love the name of your channel 2. Love your new cover 3. Love how you keep the video simple, no ads, no extravagant special effects or so Now my thoughts 💭 Everything you said is true and I couldn’t agree more with you. I personally also love the modern days, and especially Desmond’s character. As you said - at the beginning his story was so interesting and eye catching. I remember way back when AC2 was released how people were complaining about the modern days, that they don’t fit in the game and similar nonsense. I can feel that it’s just part of the game, plain and simple. Soundtrack of each of the title is like from another world = absolutely epic Revelations was very emotional, could have felt it right from the beginning in the menu, to this day I get goosebumps whenever I hear the music. The composer deserves all awards that are out there. Next thing I need to mention, as you also said it in the video, is how emotionless was Desmond’s story in AC3. I felt the same way. It was good, but it felt like it was added there BECAUSE it MUST be there and also to close Desmond’s storyline. Personally I also feel like there was way more potential to his story. I enjoyed every single moment with him. Not even mentioning his facial changes, like even in Revelations he already looked different, which I attributed to the fact that it was taking place some longer time after the events in AC: Brotherhood. In AC3 the change was so significant, but he honestly looked like neanderthal 😅 Ubisoft wanted/needed to created another AC game, yet there is always so much going on behind the scenes, so we can only speculate what was what and why cutting Demond off. Another potential theory is that they thought that there has been enough of Desmond, so “let’s end it here”. I also didn’t expect such “quick” end of his story. Your example with a book in the video is as precise as a sun in the sky when it is clear. Personally I played an finished almost all titles, but Odyssey, Valhalla and Mirage are on my list, yet will need 100+ hours to finish them 😂 Back to this video: I also thought that they deepen the soft romance between Desmond and Lucy. They would have been a great couple, honestly. The problem is, as we learn it in one AC title, don’t remember which one exactly, that Lucy was, to my big shock, a traitor. I despise traitor and I feel so sorry the creators wrote it like this. She was given orders by Vidic. When I first saw it, I couldn’t believe it. I wasn’t crying, but I was so shocked and disappointed that she was a traitor. Well, I guess things can’t be always perfect, although Ubisoft could have made it absolutely perfect. I assume they had their reasons. There is no single moment where I’d not agree with what you said in the video. Thank you so much for it and can’t wait for your other projects. Will also check your other videos. Stay safe, stay blessed. And glad you’re recovered. 😇🙏
I kinda like what they did with him in Valhalla as the Reader, but it remains to be seen if anything good comes from it. But if the rumors are true that they're jumping ahead to the future for the modern day, they'll probably abandon the storyline like they did with Juno in Origins.
Nice pfp, looks nice. Desmond is just amazing, so sad what they did to him, he was the reason i continued to play AC after AC 1, which made me fall in love with the series. Anyway, are you gonna talk about xDefiant btw?
I will never forget those desmond missions in AC3 , that gave me a small taste of what a modern AC game could be....and to this day....im still waiting.....
07:15 This right here. They killed him off so casually like it's not a big deal. There was no emotion, nothing dramatic, no epic soundtrack etc. Just boom his dead. Like wth Ubisoft?
I remember as a kid, i was so interested in the modern day mystery from ac2, especially with the cliff hanger and the talk of him having to track down temples, that were originally the keys to stop the end, sucks they never did that, could have had an uncharted style modern day with puzzles and some stealth sections, fighting abstergo.
Desmond is my favourite AC protag, and I actually enjoy his character a lot even in the last few games he appeared in. As it made sense to me, as he didnt ask for any of this and its obvious they were making stuff up on the fly lol. I really hate that they killed him off, especially since in the next game we follow Edward who's still related to Desmond. Its obvious that his death was kinda last minute and that they kinda regret it. I hope they revive him or hell even give us a soft or hard reboot of the franchise following Desmond and going with the OG plan for his character.
@IAmQuietWolf Your not wrong, I genuinely believe that they're at least hinting at the possibility of Desmond returning. Mainly with how Valhalla ended.
I literally stopped playing assassin's Creed when this happened, I am only following up to see what game should I play now that most of the assassin's creeds are on the PlayStation for download
AFAIK, Ubisoft only concluded a 3 year contract with Francisco Randez (Desmond's Face Model), so they couldn't use his face after 2010. A poor choice, since they already should've known that AC3 won't be finished before 2010, so... I just don't understand why Ubisoft didn't make a longer lasting contract with him...
I also hate that Lucy's story came to a close so quickly. It felt like the start of the decline of the modern day. Such a shame there had to be drama with Kristen Bell's pay.
I absolutely HATE ubisoft for just forgetting him. They left us on that cliffhanger with Juno escaping to bring hell on earth. Then...... nothing. It's like they just forgot he existed. I was FULLY expecting a modern day game to finish that storyline, which would have been EPIC.
Apparently, she died basically right after getting a new body in a comic book. I'm all for games fleshing out their world in alternate media. But big story moments like that should only happen in the main series of games.
I remember Assassin's Creed 3 was the first AC I played, it was on the PS3 and to this date I don't understand how desmond moved back in time, the cave they were exploring...
Desmond Miles is the heart and soul of Assassin's Creed modern-day story. The modern-day storyline line after ac 3 had become inconsistent, meaningless, and used as a plot device. The modern day was supposed to be about lineage and learning from the past for knowledge that would help the 21st century. Desmond should have remained alive, leading the fight against Abstergo and helping the Modern Day Assassins win. Without Desmond, the modern-day storyline won't make any sense. I hope Desmond comes back and his son helps him and follows in his footsteps.
It was indeed really cool to play in the modern day, and actually do active missions in AC3 as Desmond. Wish we had to do an actual assassination too. The assault on Abstergo HQ at the end was really cool. But if there were a secondary modern villain, we could've kill stealthily before that, now that'd have been nice. Also Modern Assassin is one of my favourite track on the AC3 OST
The way Ubnisoft got rid off of Desmond reminded me of how in Need for Speed you don't have a backstory anymore like in Most Wanted and Carbon. As if the devs stopped caring of a good part of what made those games even more interesting.
One thing I'd like to say, despite the fact that I really like your stuff and this video specifically, is that you mentioned you were going to spoil the early games but then at the end spoiled Valhalla out of nowhere.
From what I heard, Desmond and Clay's consciousness are still alive at Abstergo and they still have Desmonds body, so there could be a possibility that they could bring him back to life but we will see what happens cause the modern day matters.
I wish we got the original planned ending, with Desmond and Lucy flying away from earth on a spaceship, which would have been far better than what we got. In addition, the 2012 doomsday apocalypse thing that went with was a complete detriment to the series in my opinion.
I wish they would bring him back. When his father asked Basim for a favor in return for helping him at the end of Valhalla, i feel the only thing he could want from Basim is help getting his own son back, desmond.
i haven’t played AC since AC4 because I loved Desmond so much and was so disappointed with his ending, Ubisoft if you’re reading this, the only thing that would make me buy another AC game is if you resurrected him and did his story justice
I remember me and my friends discussing his death and believing it was "fake" because we believed him to be still alive. Something like him using a clone with the Apple or that his body is only in a paralyzed state and he'll wake up. Either way, we believed he'll be back in the next game or the game after... or the game after that... and then after that. Of course, he never showed up again. That's why I was SO hyped of the not-so subtle fact that he's back in Valhalla. I really wish we could get him and Nolan North back in the main series, maybe not as the main protagonist again, but make him an integral part of the modern day Assassins. And for the love of God, I HOPE we get to see Elijah in the games. He's "kinda" a big deal considering who and what he is, right?
How I would handle Desmond Miles and AC in general . -Keep 1 and 2 Identical -In Brotherhood, do not kill Lucy, I understand, Bell demanded too much well, ok , you can change voice actors, Lucy and Desmond had a lot chemistry as characters, and Lucy being around would make shit so much better. -He still falls in a coma after getting the Apple though , because, too much knowledge hit him at once. -The other 3 work tirelessly to bring him back , you can have some missions in Revelation were you play as Lucy , trying to find someone else Abstergo has kidnapped like Desmond and bring them to your side too, it's a 6 mission long story , in the end Lucy finds and rescues a chinese woman named Ai. who they were using to access the memories of Shao Jun . -Release Embers so that people get to see Ezio's death and the introduction to Shao Jun . -Assassins Creed 3 : Rebecca doesn't want to put Desmond back in the animus and Desmond after being so deeply connected with Ezio during Revelations he has mastered some of Ezio's personality too , to the point were he is now a natural leader, and much more keen to notice details, more charismatic, he is a lot more like Ezio than the empty guy we met in AC1 . Now Desmond goes in a few modern world missions throughout the game sabotaging abstergo, and killing members. Eventually being captured and imprisoned again at the end of AC3. Ai is used to learn more about Shao Jun's past and develop into another excellent assassin, we also get to live Shao Jun's story , of reforming the brotherhood in China, training with ezio, overthrowing an empire Shao Jun's story takes 2 games to finish. -Assassins Creed 4 : Desmond is used in the animus again playing the memories of Haytham Kenway , as Templar. While Ai continues to learn more from Shao Jun . At the end of the game, Shaun, Rebecca, Lucy and Ai infiltrate Abstergo to free Desmond . And Desmond is trying to escape the whole game. In the end . They manage it and while escaping Desmond kills Vidic. Which sends shockwaves throughout the Templars -Assassins Creed 5 : No animus, real modern world, Rebecca and Shaun mostly do research and Lucy is an one woman army helping both sides , the research and on the battlefield . You play missions as both Desmond and Ai in today's world trying to find Templars and kill them, ultimately you can choose which Assassin to use for each mission , but for the biggest targets you need to switch between the two . The game ends with Desmond, Ai and Lucy having killed every single high ranking Templar. When this game ends. You can make all the money you want from merch and stuff , sell to studios so they can make animated series, manga, movies, tv series... whatever, just take your fucking name away from these, just make the money.
There are 3 big factors that lead to the mishandling of Desmond's character 1 creative changes from the original creator. 2 the fans back when these games were coming out didn't actually like the modern day stuff because it wasn't as cool and fun or well developed as all the historical stuff with Ezio. And 3 for ac 3 Ubisoft tried really hard to jump on the 2012 end of the world hysteria and rushed ac3s development to make it so they could do it
Hopefully he comes back. We know its possible for characters to just reincarnate as themselves (Basim), he's been trapped standing in The Grey for so long, he probably wants to sit down.
I saw the video on my fyp and thought wait there is another guy with the same channel name and then i heard the voice and was like nope he is the same 😂😂
Ubisoft boxed themselves into a corner with their writing after killing Desmond. The payoff just wasnt there and the fact that they put all their chips into the mythological aspect rather than merging the two realities evenly just killed it imo. It just opened the floodgates of going crazy with mythologies. Feels more like God of War and Witcher then Assassins Creed.
Every game after AC3 has been lifeless... When you remove the baseline story holding it all together (no matter how much ridicule it might have received) you kill the purpose behind exploring through the ancestors. There was something special about playing as an ancestor KNOWING there is a connection back to the PLAYER in modern day. It made it feel more.. genuine.. intimate.. Now I cant help but feel empty playing the following games.. you can feel the absence. I haven't finished a AC game since... :(
I once thought we will have the last ac game that we really play as desmond that became master assassin to go against modern day templar or isu after he accumulated skill from his ancestors😢
Agree. a new AC fan myself n going back to AC2 after playing Odyssey to learn more on Desmond n modern day story, it feels kinda to sudden the ending for the man. Should've done it properly imo
I was one of those people who immediately felt a loss in the modern game story after desmonds death, I liked black flag game mechanics, but felt disconnected with story due to desmond
Despite everything you said, which I agree with, they fumbled the Juno plot line even worse. Writing off Desmond, and all the alleged ideas from the previous creators, they decided to move forward with Juno as the big baddie who’s trying to be resurrected. Only to conclude her story in a comic series that had no fanfare
Its been 12 years and I'm still not over it.
Amen to that brother.
I just played AC:BH and was so excited about the story but turns out it's a complete mess.

The ac3 soundtrack is so so good especially Desmond’s destiny will always hit so hard for me
to quote one of the best films ever made "look at how they massacred my boy 😢"
Totally agree Desmond deserved better, and if I remember, to add insult to injury Ubisoft actually made us see Desmond's autopsy photos in Black Flag or Rogue (don't remember well anymore) and the contents of his phone with photos and basically showing what a sweet guy he was. We worked at Abstergo so we sent those files to William Miles and the poor man had a mental breakdown and went AWOL on the Brotherhood.
Btw awesome new profile picture!
I didn't know you were on hiatus but I just found out Mirage is getting a sequel so I'm waiting for you to post a video about that :D (On the flip side they announced Watch Dogs is cancelled forever so... feeling gutted about that.)
mirage is getting a sequal?
@@os_oz it was rumoured, but I haven't heard more on that since, so maybe not, who knows.
The one thing is that it wasent desmond's character, it was those around him that built desmond's character and how they viewed desmond as this test subject. Making use be more attached to desmond. I would much rather have desmond back. Desmond is much more memorable then layla. But i did actually like desmonds model in AC 3.
Welcome back 🎉
Thank you so much for finally addressing this glaring issue with the franchise. I feel like you read one of my comments on your previous videos and I just feel like due to how mishandled yet important Desmond is to the foundation of everything. That nobodys top farvorite assassins in these games list can be truly complete without mention this in my opinion criminally underrated guy
Love the new pfp and glad you are back from your break and feeling refreshed my friend!!
Hello,
I’m new to this channel, don’t know where to start.
1. Love the name of your channel
2. Love your new cover
3. Love how you keep the video simple, no ads, no extravagant special effects or so
Now my thoughts 💭
Everything you said is true and I couldn’t agree more with you.
Soundtrack of each of the title is like from another world = absolutely epic
Revelations was very emotional, could have felt it right from the beginning in the menu, to this day I get goosebumps whenever I hear the music.
In AC3 the change was so significant, but he honestly looked like neanderthal 😅
Ubisoft wanted/needed to created another AC game, yet there is always so much going on behind the scenes, so we can only speculate what was what and why cutting Demond off.
Another potential theory is that they thought that there has been enough of Desmond, so “let’s end it here”.
I also didn’t expect such “quick” end of his story. Your example with a book in the video is as precise as a sun in the sky when it is clear.
Personally I played an finished almost all titles, but Odyssey, Valhalla and Mirage are on my list, yet will need 100+ hours to finish them 😂
Back to this video: I also thought that they deepen the soft romance between Desmond and Lucy.
😇🙏
Bro the pfp goes crazy, when i saw it i thought it was someone else
I kinda like what they did with him in Valhalla as the Reader, but it remains to be seen if anything good comes from it.
But if the rumors are true that they're jumping ahead to the future for the modern day, they'll probably abandon the storyline like they did with Juno in Origins.
It will most likely be abandoned unless Darby chooses to build upon it in hexe
I ain't holding my breath with Ubisoft. Nothing probably won't happen. You already seen what they did with him in AC3
Gosh I want desmond back, I want the modern day conspiracy dealt with care, and I want shaun back in the database.
Love your video and a new logo nice, and yes, I agree I miss him ngl
Nice pfp, looks nice. Desmond is just amazing, so sad what they did to him, he was the reason i continued to play AC after AC 1, which made me fall in love with the series. Anyway, are you gonna talk about xDefiant btw?
Profile pic lookin fresh, assassin. But man the whole thing of Desmond becoming this ultimate assassin and stopping abstergo would’ve been so badass
Just as bad when they killed off Juno Not in a game, but in a comic. All set up after AC3 with zero pay off.
I will never forget those desmond missions in AC3 , that gave me a small taste of what a modern AC game could be....and to this day....im still waiting.....
Ubisofts sad mishandling of every Ubisoft game
Welcome back man, nice pfp btw
Damn! The new pfp looks sick!! My favorite one yet
The creator left during the development of brotherhood? That makes sense because thats when the series started going downhill AFTER brotherhood
I love how this video comes out the day after I replayed AC3
07:15 This right here. They killed him off so casually like it's not a big deal. There was no emotion, nothing dramatic, no epic soundtrack etc. Just boom his dead. Like wth Ubisoft?
No
As much as I loved Desmond, I don't think he's coming back. His son, Isaac, would be an interesting character to bring into the games though.
New pfp is going fire 🔥
You have made me realise ASSASINS CREED SERIES GOT NO PROTAGONIST AT ALL THE ANTAGONISTS APPEARED IN MORE GAMES THAN HIM
What is they made Assassins Creed: Alternative Roots where Demond isn't killed and some other things to re-build the peak
I would dig that fr.
Great Video Master Assassin and love the New pfp!!!👍👍👍
Honestly I think him feeling like a different person in every game works because of how his ancestors memories are affecting him
I'll never not be mad that we didn't get an only modern day game with Desmond as the protag
DAMN BRO YOUR PFP LOOKIN FIRE
oh new vid AND the new drip, Mentor?
It was indeed really cool to play in the modern day, and actually do active missions in AC3 as Desmond. Wish we had to do an actual assassination too. The assault on Abstergo HQ at the end was really cool. But if there were a secondary modern villain, we could've kill stealthily before that, now that'd have been nice. Also Modern Assassin is one of my favourite track on the AC3 OST
Yo the new profile pic looks clean!
Desmond has gone from my cousin ronnie to less buff "The Rock" and I cant unsee that
The way Ubnisoft got rid off of Desmond reminded me of how in Need for Speed you don't have a backstory anymore like in Most Wanted and Carbon. As if the devs stopped caring of a good part of what made those games even more interesting.
"Desmond is basically us in this situation"
Proceeds to show exactly what we were all looking at 💀
One thing I'd like to say, despite the fact that I really like your stuff and this video specifically, is that you mentioned you were going to spoil the early games but then at the end spoiled Valhalla out of nowhere.
Imagine Thanos finally collecting all the infinity stones and that’s a wrap. Series over. Close up shop.
Awesome pfp, really nice keep it up👌🏻
I wish they would bring him back.
I desperately want modern day assassins/ assassin gameplay, a fully fleshed out game
Imagine that, killing off a character becoz of their face model
Ubisoft: Oh sorry desmond we have to let you go
Everyone: why
Ubisoft: face
At last he started to look like mark Zuckerberg 🤣🤣
I want the old profile picture back with Ezio black rops
If they decide to remake the early ac games I hope they give us more Desmond missions and handle the ending better
AC 1-3 where my all time fav games, hated brotherhood and never played the rest
How I would handle Desmond Miles and AC in general .
-Keep 1 and 2 Identical
-In Brotherhood, do not kill Lucy, I understand, Bell demanded too much well, ok , you can change voice actors, Lucy and Desmond had a lot chemistry as characters, and Lucy being around would make shit so much better.
Which sends shockwaves throughout the Templars
-Assassins Creed 5 : No animus, real modern world, Rebecca and Shaun mostly do research and Lucy is an one woman army helping both sides , the research and on the battlefield .
And 3 for ac 3 Ubisoft tried really hard to jump on the 2012 end of the world hysteria and rushed ac3s development to make it so they could do it
love the new channel logo
Hopefully he comes back. We know its possible for characters to just reincarnate as themselves (Basim), he's been trapped standing in The Grey for so long, he probably wants to sit down.
Bro your new profile picture is so good
I saw the video on my fyp and thought wait there is another guy with the same channel name and then i heard the voice and was like nope he is the same 😂😂
He's back🙌🏻
The ending of AC 3 was my first real, actual gaming disappointing LMAO
I feel like his death kinda felt to me like they would never resolve the modern day part of the timeline.
New pfp? I really like this new one tbh, 👍!
I once thought we will have the last ac game that we really play as desmond that became master assassin to go against modern day templar or isu after he accumulated skill from his ancestors😢
Missinh old Profile Picture this is looking really vibrant
New pfp goes hard
Perfect example of "Get Woke, go BROKE".
When they swapped out and added DEI hires during/after Black flag, it showed in the game.
Also idk if I played the game wrong but I remember Juno just *YAKING* for hours before Desmond dying
Agree. a new AC fan myself n going back to AC2 after playing Odyssey to learn more on Desmond n modern day story, it feels kinda to sudden the ending for the man. Should've done it properly imo
Time to rewatch desmond scenes...
oh you changed your profile love'it🙂
That new profile pic is fucking sick. Also like the video everyone! This man deserves more subs
I was one of those people who immediately felt a loss in the modern game story after desmonds death, I liked black flag game mechanics, but felt disconnected with story due to desmond
Badass new pfp
Your back 💖
And new profile pic
Despite everything you said, which I agree with, they fumbled the Juno plot line even worse. Writing off Desmond, and all the alleged ideas from the previous creators, they decided to move forward with Juno as the big baddie who’s trying to be resurrected. Only to conclude her story in a comic series that had no fanfare
gonna miss tiny ezio but the new logo goes hard !
Honestly, this title could be the cast for most of the AC franchise.
babe wake up new masterassassin logo dropped
Love the new pfp man it's so freaking awesome
