  • The Mentors Return -
    Altair's life after the events depicted in the first game. After killing Al-Mualim, Altair took possession of the Apple of Eden and assumed leadership of the Assassins. One of the Assassins, Abbas, did not support Altair due to past events, and for killing Al Mualim. When Altair and his wife Maria left Masyaf for 10 years to fight off the Mongol invasion, Abbas staged a coup d'etat, seizing control of the Assassins and executing Altaïr's youngest son Sef. Altair sought revenge but as Maria tried to stop him, another Assassin stabbed Maria in the back. Altair was forced to flee with his elder son, Darim, and went into self imposed exile for 20 years. Altair eventually returned to Masyaf, killed Abbas, and took his rightful place as the leader of the Assassins. In the process, Altair told the dying Abbas the truth of the latter's father's death. Years later, Altair encodes his memories on the five keys Ezio would find, entrusting them to Niccolo.
    * Altair Ibn La Ahad -
    (meaning - The Bird , Son of No One) is a fictional character from the Assassin's Creed series of games a master assassin active during the Third Crusade at Holy Land in 1191. He is one of the main members of the Assassin's Brotherhood, and he serves as the main protagonist of Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles and Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines. Altair also shares the role of protagonist with Ezio Auditore da Firenze in Assassin's Creed Revelations, and he is playable once in Assassin's Creed II. He was generally well received by critics and gamers alike.
    * Abbas Sofian -
    (1166 - 1247) was a member of the Levantine Brotherhood of Assassins and its Mentor from 1227 until his death. His leadership over the Levantine Brotherhood showed a period of corruption and disregard for the Order's Creed resulting in the decline of their castle in Masyaf and its villagers fearing and secretly loathing the Assassins.

      I mean, the point is of course that Altaïr learned some future technology from the apple, but actually... he died 1257, so this was maybe around 1250. The first documented fire lance use is dated to 1132 and one of the earliest possible depictions of a hand cannon is even dated to 1128 and we know that the Mongols used early firearms as well. And Altaïr even fought the Mongols before. He, his wife Maria and his son Darim went to kill Genghis Khan and his son managed to do it. So it's futuristic, but not completely otherworldly. The assassins probably knew about the concept of such weapons, just not as advanced.

    • @Kuhmuhnistische_Partei
      @Kuhmuhnistische_Partei ปีที่แล้ว +26

      @@youknowwhatever8649 I mean even late medieval firearms weren't that great. His cannon seems to be very precise, while 15th century hand cannons were more something you shot in the general direction of a large mass of enemies in the hope that someone would be hit. Crossbows and bows were still the more popular range weapons, because you were at least able to hit something. Handcannons were superior in actually penetrating plate armor for example, so they had their place, but only in addition to larger numbers of crossbow/longbowmen. Hand cannons weren't even that expensive compared to other weapons... at least without the blackpowder. I recently read a price list for different weapons and armor in the late medieval age. It's a German list, it's basically a list of stuff mercenaries got replaced by their client after a battle, which was very common. They got a so called "Schadlosbrief", "letter of indemnity". A handcannon is 1 Rhenish gulden, a crossbow is 2-4 Rhenish gulden and a crossbow with winch even 3-5 Rhenish gulden. Just to get some perspective: Breastplate and backplate together are 2 Rhenish gulden, a kettle hat is 1.5-3 Rhenish gulden and a horse trained for battle is 30-40 Rhenish gulden. The average income of a mercenary is around 48 Rhenish gulden per year which is comparable with a very good paid journeyman (20-50 per year) or a master craftsman (30-60 per year). So you could say one Rhenish gulden is a bit like paying 1000€ today.

      @@ErrorCreed I don’t think people are mad because they changed some gameplay systems people are mad because the story telling in the later games is incredibly shallow and the original heart and soul of the series hasn’t been there for a long time. It isn’t really about the historical setting or the fancy gimmicks the heart of the series was it’s interesting characters. In my opinion the last great character was Edward since he had a mostly believable character arc. Ever since then it seems like the main characters become assassins not out of any personal choice but because that is what the story needs to function which means that plot points are driving the story instead of well written characters. This is of course only my opinion but I hope that it can help you to understand why some older fans might be upset with the newer games.

    Revelations was the only game in the series that was all about the story. From what I've seen, that's the reason most people say it's one of the worst games. For me however, that's the one reason why this game is my absolute favourite.
    There is no arguing that Revelations is the most emotional AC game, where we've seen the growth of the 2 defining characters of the franchise, then we got satisfying closures to their legendary stories. And don't even get me started on the soundtracks. It's honestly beyond me how anyone could hate this masterpiece.

      I mean that’s what Assassins Creed has always been, it was at base always the same game but they also always managed to add some new and good gimmicks that made the game feel fresh, sometimes smaller gimmicks like the Hook Blade and then from adding ship combat as a late and minor thing in AC3 to making an entire AC game based around that gimmick, but at base they always were the same games, just with a different story, setting or characters.

    This was peak Assassins Creed. Revaluations was oddly enough my first AC. Yet I felt like I knew Ezio instantly and could see the depth of Altair’s story. This is what it used to be. Not faking spartan kicking people like rag dolls in some pseudo RPG...
    The last bit with Altair and Abbas legitimately makes me tear up. The misunderstanding and sound end. It hits levels that I unfortunately will never see from the series again. As with all things popular. They milk it dry...
    AC for me died with Desmond, with AC Black Flag, AC Unity and maybe 1 or 2 others being nice side pieces of content.

      I wouldn't say it was THE peak... more so its' end. The peak of Assassin's Creed, for me, was Brotherhood. AC1 came out, and it was revolutionary, original, made by people who had passion for their craft and weren't afraid to go through with it, rather than pander to the lowest common denominator. AC2 came out, and it was even better... the perfect sequel, keeping everything that made the first so great, and building on it. Brotherhood, while not as revolutionary as the two before it, still built on it, and improved things. The story was incredible, the gameplay was incredible... Revelations was the end of an era. It was a game that, despite still having a pretty good story, didn't do much to improve on the previous titles, adding only things like grenades and tower defense minigames. But, it was still a great game. Then, AC3 came out.... and the classic AC games I enjoyed were dead, never to return. Nowadays, they just pump out yearly trash became it makes a profit, and the developers are just 9-5 workers who want to finish whatever it is they're told to do by managment that understands nothing about the needs and wands of its' customers, so they can go home and forget they're having to be part of something so shitty and soulless.

The second part of his existence being a long perpetual journey, his tragic personal life, his great thirst for knowledge… and it never shows more clearly than here: the old King returning under a humble guise to drive out the usurpers and reclaim his throne, like the Greek hero did at the end of the Odyssey.

      Yeah whereas Origins just randomly decided in the last hour that Bayek isn't shit and slaps on the Amunet crap and the eagle skull emblem in a show of meaningless fan service, retconning all the wonderful story telling of the past few games. Making you play a man the entire game only to find out he didn't really found shit, and to see the true founding of the Creed you have to buy the fucking DLC and even then it's not even anywhere close to the story telling of the older games. Such a shame and an embarrassment because now we have a canon that isn't even good. I liked it when we didn't know much about the ancient origins of the Creed and Altair was as far back as we had. Seeing the way the still-honorable Assassins react to Altair’s return, rallying at his side, immediately moving to coordinate and escort him up to the castle - it puts on full display the clear admiration and deep respect that the Brotherhood had for Altair and his mentorship, and makes for an incredibly badass moment. Honestly for as slow as he walks it is pretty badass lmao this was my favorite assassins creed just because it actually connects 2 story lines and gives you a follow up to the previous assassin, wish they would do a creed game right as Len way does following Hytham’s initiation to the order

    This will forever be one of my favorite moments in AC. Old man Altair just strolls up, and says “I have seen some shit”
    And 360 no scopes this guy and everyone is scared shitless cuz the concept of a gun has never been seen before.

    Kinda great because in Islamic believes, there's this place after death where every single one of your deals, doubt, and all those things when you were alive will be resolved. Only once it's all resolved that it'd be decided either heaven or hell for you

    Man, they really catched the Arabic accent perfectly. This one assassin even did this "ehchs" at the end what is a typical Arabic thing, like when u do "oh man" or "pff". Never have seen a game actually having this
    realism in synchronization

    Revelations was amazing! Altaïr and Ezio are the only Assassins worth remembering. Not to mention, the Desmond era actually had a story 😂

    • @Zebo12345678
      @Zebo12345678 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      For real, it feels like they killed off Desmond in a futile attempt to force the series to end, as if they knew the series was turning sour. That's just speculation, but it's definitely what it feels like to me.
      Since then, it's like they've completely forgotten the plot. What ever happened to using the animus to train new assassins the skills that their ancestors had? Now it's all just "ooh this could lead us to an artifact" over and over. And they got so carried away with the Isu stuff that Abstergo isn't even that relevant most of the time. The plot in each game is so shallow now. They really derailed the franchise.
