Out of all the Kare-kare na nakain ko ganitong recipe talaga yung hinahanap ko, kare-kareng matanda kung tawagin nila. Nanay lang ng barkada ko (na Kapampangan) ang kilala kong nakakagawa ng ganito. Maraming salamat sa recipe, Chef!
Chef Tatung, this is the same procedure my nanay used to do when she cooks karekare. I am now 65 years old and I remember helping my nanay by grinding the peanuts and toasted rice using mortar and pestle. ( dikdikan) 🙂
This is how my father used to cook kare kare and this is also how I make it today. Not as often 😅 but when I have the craving for it. My daddy used to make it for Sunday lunch, at least twice a month!
Wow ganyan po talaga ang luto ng kare kare mas masarap po yan dating sinauna na luto ni lola at lolo may kssamang bagoong alamang gusto gusto ko ang old fashioned style ng kare kare thanks chef tatung for sharing that style I love it ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing this chef! Na inspire ako kase paborito kong dish ito. At para sa akin, I agree, mas prefer ko yung ganitong lasa na traditional, kesa sa mga resto. Tamang tama, this weekend bday ng mama ko, I'll give it a shot and cook this for her.
My fave ulam of all time, ma try nga yung method na ito, usual ko na luto ay peanut butter gamit ko, kaso need ko pa ng machinery haha might by food processor or immersion blender soon
What's a Sunday family lunch without everyone's favorite-Kare kare? The toasted rice is the ingredient that gives it that extra oomph. Extra rice na ito! Thanks for sharing, Chef! Cheers!
As a Bicolano, we usually add coconut to saucy dishes for a bit of experiment, after all cooking is also a form of art. But, we don't intend to to put it in all the dishes only to some for as long as it will not ruin the dish itself. We are not that extreme. 😂🤘. More Power Chef...
chef, another tip..may nabibiling glutinous rice powder sa market. un ang turo naman sa kin ng mother ko. binubusa rin xa ang kaibahan lang is powdered na sya.. kaya no need ng igiling... same taste and texture kapag nabusa na.. try nyo rin po. tnx
Thank you, Chef. That's how we cook our kare-kare, too, even up to now, We never use peanut butter so it's never sweet. We never cook the veggies separately. Sometimes they would add (if avaialble) sigarilyas and what the ilocanos call parda.

Yes, Chef! Ako din, I prefer to use ground peanuts. If at all, I use the non-sweet peanut butter. Of course, tripe, beef maskara and ox tail!
This is how my father used to cook kare kare and this is also how I make it today. Not as often 😅 but when I have the craving for it. My daddy used to make it for Sunday lunch, at least twice a month!
Siguradong simot sarap yan Chef at mapaparami ng kanin dahil sa sarsa at bagoong
Number one of my favorite pinoy ulam - kare kare w/ tripe 😋😋
i love it when the chef/cook pays homage to the original dish, instead of shamelessly bastardizing it.

Kare-kare is healthful with the protein and veggies. Authentic recipe, Chef! Food historian ka rin pala.

Chef, can you cook Chicken Mole please? I know this is quite similar to Kare Kare, but not really sure what the difference is. Thank you in advance.
How do you season or timpla the sauce? Patis o bagoong?
You need a sponsor for a bigger pot!
