Tanked all three hits and still got left with about 1% vig.
You can actually jump to dodge all three parts of the attack. It changes that attack specifically from a death sentence into a cakewalk

@@badasstoad9419 he likely did originally, but it was probably removed before release. When you enter his arena, there's a few seconds of black screen "cutscene" that you can skip with a button. It's not loading kind of black screen, but specifically dummy cutscene. No other bosses have that afaik.
I mean this boss is ranni aunt and rennala sister. And she fight in a complete opposite way of her carian brethren and she is a remembrance boss. She deserve a cutscene.

she has literally spanked me mutliple times now with ease and makes malenia look like clown as she is king it seems for how they designed her and her insane attacks & speed. like her weakness is lightning spells and water but getting them off and hitting then dodging her 2 hit k0 is very hard to do.
Would be good to at least get ANY dialogue from her

@@motoristacaduco When I fought Malenia the first time I thought she was the hardest boss I've ever faced. She isn't that hard now that I've learned how to dodge waterfowl. I am sure the DLC bosses will feel easier with time.

@@Ntf17_x Main boss as in a gatekeeper boss you need to beat to access a major area of the map (that's why they give you a summon npc, main bosses typically have those so you dont get stuck).
He has like a lv 150+ character and still does no damage without bleeding

Died to her for four straight hours before I gave up for the night. She's the only boss I've found that I haven't beaten yet.😭
Try something with heavy stagger. Learn her moveset well and then use every possible opening to get that stagger in and get the critical in. Use the opening while she's recovering to get some extra damage in.
You really got to punish her hard and keep up the pressure. If you let her breath you're fucked.

I do think she's harder and more challenging than Malenia.
Malenia is not that hard, she simply has waterfoul, a move where, whenever you hit her, she can randomly decide you'll die by doing it, since close warerfoul is 99% death chances
Rellana would destroy Malenia in a 1v1. She would just tank the shit out of waterfowl and combo her ass back to a plant.
It's not even the damage output. Rellana's combos just don't stop
@@karmen3473 you mean like those fights between bosses that some youtubers do? Malenia easily, but like EASILY destroys this boss with no issues whatsoever. If the boss doesnt have an instakill mechanic malenia will constantly heal, and if she gets to second phase the moment rellana gets inflicted with rot its gg, litteraly no boss can survive the rot unless they are inmune (which i believe rellana isnt)
Why does she have 1000 poise and 1000 stance, takes 2.5 fully charged ultragreatsword heavies to get her down, zero staggers at all before stance break

I think of it this way : Malenia still has rhe strongest and most terriffying attack of the two, waterfall dance, but as a whole, Rellana's combos and regular attacks are not only even worse, but she adds magic to it. Not to mention she is built to punish bad habits (always rolling backwards or on the side for example). The double moon move is easily dealt with (but don't get hit lmao, death assured).
They really went : how about we mix pontiff Sulyvann, Malenia, Renalla, Carian knights, moonveil, sword of night and flame, Loretta... and make her combos potentially never ending.
@@popkhorne5372 always rolling backwards IS the strategy for this fight my dude, she literally has no endless combos if you roll backwards and then roll forward for one hit when she stops comboing because you're too far away now. Also this is the second person i've seen that says she has endless combos, like, yeah she has long combos but out of all the bosses in this game that has endless combos, this is the only fight where you can use that for your advantage instead of just watching the boss dance and hope you don't get randomly clipped by an instant distance closing attack during it. But yeah this fight is basically One Pump Chump: Elden Ring Edition where you can't squeeze in more than one attack in any opening like ever(except for the phase transition but be careful with the sword prep hitbox.) Also i know i sound like i'm trying to make this fight sound easy but i know its not easy at all, some of her attacks are almost instant and recognizing her combos and combo endings takes time. And i wouldn't judge anyone for calling this fight bs as well because she kills you in two hits, and she sometimes summons those overheard homing blades at the worst possible scenarios(she can literally summon them before the moon attack, which is a guaranteed death because i dont think you can i-frame moons with dodge). Its just that this fight is the least offender in almost the entire game where overly long combos are considered, for me at least.
@@nicecoat5004 what you said about dodging backwards does not confict with what i said. she has some attcks that punish backwards or side dodges much more than forward. in fact she also has some attacks that are less forgiving for forward dodges.
i'm sorry but saying she is the least offender in terms of combos is just not true. yes in phase 1 they are not that long and exploitable, but in phase two she has several combos that are the longest in the game. even malenia never combos this long. also they deal so much more damage than Malenia's. the glintblades's timings can feel unfair true, but most of the time they are only an annoyance. the moon attack is perfectly fair, no pb with it, but man even recognising her paterns is hard. after fighting Malenia i could basically no hit her exept for waterfall dance, but i don't see that happening with rellanna... that said my stats may also be a problem. only 55 vigor, no rune may be a bit rough...
She doesn't even have voicelines or cutscenes she just immediately starts beating the hell out of you😂

@@grumpzalo975 all non-magical ones, as far as i can tell. Currently struggling, but i honestly find parrying her to be easier than dodging, because the combos last forever and she has massive poise, so a parry is the only way i can stop myself from getting blended
@@lred1383 damn, good to know, I was only able to figure out the parry timing only 3 of her attacks. But yeah, it makes it a lot more manageable, otherwise I would get blitzed instantly. Hope you get her soon.

@@Rexzazelit’s not your build, my build is min maxed to hell and even I’m doing bad damage, this is genuinely malenia tier difficulty
I spent 4 hours trying before giving up and using latenna as a middle ground. I kind of wish I picked up more smithing stones and talismans and ashes of wars before starting dlc.
It took me about 2.5 hours to kill her at level 162 1v1. This might be the hardest boss I've fought in a fromsoft game, I'm ngl. Im pretty sure this one has taken me longer than any other fromsoft boss.

This was actually one of the cases where the boss seldom input read. It would happen occasionally but not all the time. I think they've toned it down for the DLC. Though they did nerf it a while back so it could just be that

She's just extremely aggressive so it may seem as her input reading if you heal during her combos

Tbf, most of those people probably cheesed the game with things like Rivers of Blood, Mimic Tear and Sorcery

Bad design tbh. They just made a fast boss have an absurd amount of health so it's a battle of attrition.
She's not bad on paper. They just made her artificially hard by jacking all her numbers up.

What made her difficult is how inconsistent her combos are. There isn’t one ability where you can say “this is always the end of a combo and it’s my opportunity to attack.”

We don't know how powerful Renalla truly is, Remember we merely fought an illusion from Ranni that seemed to be more for intimidation and self defense purposes rather than Straight up Havoc.
This is the first boss in the game that I genuinely gave up on and just said screw it, mimic tear.

I’m really struggling on this boss, I beat the dancing lion fairly quickly but this is just insane now
@@ryan25067Make sure to get as many Scadutree Blessings as you can. I had a level 8 blessing at the time, and the boss still one or two shot me with nearly 2,400 health. This is definitely way harder than anything in the base game, and I would say I never had this much trouble on my first playthrough. Even bosses like Malenia can still be pretty easy with the right gear, but this boss doesn't give a fuck what you're using, the only correct thing to have is skill. I had to almost no-hit her just to beat the fight, and it took me a couple of hours to beat her. Granted, I was figuring out what weapons worked the best, which strategies were the most effective, and I can say that a +25 Milady (the light greatsword you can get in a chest in that castle) with lightning infusion, feel free to use whatever ash of war you want, was the best way to beat her for me. It's got quick running attacks, generally good moveset and combo's, and since like half of the arena is a pool of water, and she wears all metal armor, lightning is the way to go. I personally used the wing stance aow for the fast lunging heavy attack, which I would recommend using in her since she barely gives you time to actually hit her aside from the short recovery after a long attack string.
@@DESTINED2912 Remember to get as many Scadutree Blessings as possible, and I found that a max upgrade Milady with lightning damage was the most consistent weapon against her, though if you wanna use bleed or posion/rot or whatever feel free to do that.

@@jays.6843 The problem is that some players try to play the game like it was DS3. They wait around for the bosses to give them opennings and try to roll spam evn tho Elden Ring's boss design highly discourages those strats. Thye blame the game instead of learning and just over power every boss
More like every singe bosses are designed with mimic tear in mind. Yet a lot of them just refused to use the mimic and then play the game for a problem they created for themselves.
Any fans of The Witcher books here? The speed, ferocity, and determination that Rellana moves with is almost exact how I envision Leo Bonhart fighting.

I'm not the only one finding this boss stupidly difficult am I? Could be a skill issue but man her combos just don't end, the "breaks" where she summons magic are fine as a breather but with my melee build attacking her in this state results in an instant clap back. Might finally have to introduce some spells into the mix

She is worse than malenia, it feels like with every entry from is increasing the BS to keep up with the difficult and it doesnt feel fun, elden ring will definitely be my last fromsouls if they keep that bs its not satisfying gameplay, satisfying for me is nameless king, gael, lothric, not this over the top anime gsrbage with no openingd and ridiculous aoe attacks
you can summon the knight girl who can tempory stun her odd time but most base game weapons dont stun her it seems but i agree as at time she had inf stamina to me it seem

Nah, she definitely is scary with her infinite combos. Best approach is really just hit and run. Don't even try to stay close to her, otherwise she will just keep her combos going

Coolest thing about Rellana is that she actually incorporates some real life fencing techniques in her move pool, specifically the Godinho school.
I think this is my favorite boss fight in the entire game so far. It's a an intense dance with precise moves, one of the reasons why Lady Maria was one of my favs in Bloodborne however this is 100x more aggressive

She's moveset is like lady maria and pontiff combined. Easily my top 5 from soft boss off all times, and I'm only 2 bosses into the dlc.
Love this boss's design so much. It might have people running comparisons all over, but something about it feels like its the perfect form of those prior bosses. Her swipes are almost a dance, those colors with the magic are spectacular, and there's even just kind of this cheesy grace to how she even does the sword-fling spell with the usual arc and then a sudden under-gliding swing of "wait, there's more..." Then just that big double-moon nuke. That thing is just insane and gorgeous. This is probably going up there as one of my favorite more human bosses from the games - I tend to like the cool and creepy creatures a bit more though, and look forward to digging deeper into this DLC to find what comes out in that department.
Great hammers and jump attacks break her poise VERY quick, so landing a couple will get you a break to heal and a spot to do a good chunk of damage
I don't know why but she reminded me of Lady Maria. Using twin blades, her stance, even some of her fighting stile is similar. Oh, and can't forget the flames.

Her theme has been stuck in my head ever since I beat her. Shit took way too damn long to beat.
Looks like a combo between Pontiff and Ministry Elite And Samurai with the Elden Sauce poured all over.
Tip that helped me a lot whilst using Moghs great spear dodge into her sword arm and not away, really helped me avoid a lot of her twirl attacks that otherwise clip me. Also to avoid the twin moon move just jump as the ball/boss falls. You need to do it as soon as you see the object fall to give you enough time to be able to jump the next attack.
Also another thing, when using her ash of war to send the slices of magic at you run away from her, this will give you enough time to dodge each slash, dodging around her is tough because the blade itself as well as the magic attack can hit you making dodging closer to her almost impossible
Found it hard using pure strength! Had to get quite a few hits in before she would get stance broken, and the slower hitting speed is offcourse a problem!
That only means i have to bring out the big guns - starfists🤜🏻🤜🏻

She fights with an elegant sword dance.
While also having crazy anime character vibes.

I managed to beat her with heavy support from Perfumer Tricia. Her uplifting aromatic can activate multiple times in a single cast and thankfully she used it a lot, so it cushions you so hard when you are inevitably caught by a hit from her combo blender
First DLC boss that forced me to respec. I found that going all out tank with with the fingerprint shield and bonking her with guard counters was the most viable option. Just stack damage negation buffs as she heads into phase two and you should be good. Reccomend opaline + crimsonwhorl tears.
I'm a little worn out about From Soft starting to ride on marketing of their game as extremely hard then making them total bullshit hard so people will cry to keep this image in check. Just wait 2 weeks when the hype phase is done. They will nerf bosses massively on the first patch

Playing against this boss while dual wielding is like a dance, I thoroughly enjoyed it
Beat her second try by spamming giant's hunt on the guts greatsword with a builld optimized for posture breaking and damage reduction, but still ended up on about 1% vigor twice during the fight.
The moment when even Melania is more balanced than whatever this is. 4/10 boss. Visually cool. Mechanic wise absolute abysmal. She has litterly EVERYTHING AoE, Range, Melee, a one shot Spell, can close up to you in mere seconds so no time to heal, attacks continuously without any major openings. This boss without any summoning feels absoulte ass. Respect to those who managed without it.
Such a cool looking boss, it’s such a shame they decided to make her be more annoying than difficult.

Learning her combos was fun, the problem is the infinite poise, good luck if you are a strength build because at least malenia flinched when you smacked her with the greatsword

A much better Pontiff Sulyvahn, many cool attacks, rhythmic dance, cool design and music, awesome weapon. My heart was pounding so much, S+ tier!
Beating her by deflecting her attacks with the new Deflection Hardtear was one memorable experience. Really cool moveset!

@jaswanthvardireddy2243 Agreed. All of the bosses so far have just felt like they have way too much health. The only boss I've liked so far is the divine lion thing. It felt so much more balanced.

this boss is SO fun to fight but she's like melania 2.0 😭😭 she's taking me all day to fight i swear like i say that I'm good at dodging but there's barely any time in between her moves to get a hit in and as soon as i heal she spams her magic
Such a cool boss fight. My jaw literally dropped when i first saw some of her attacks.
I know everyone's praising this boss for how cool she looks, but IMO this boss is everything I hate about ER bosses. Delayable attacks, 5+ hit strings that can easily kill on NG+ or just drains your stamina bar from blocking/rolling, no stagger unless stunned, etc. Even Malenia feels more fair because you can at least stagger her when she finishes her strings
None of this is a problem if you play agressively
@@debater452 i don’t have the stamina for it. I had to switch to a stam regen talisman to beat her because you just need to roll constantly

This was the first boss I fought in the dlc and boy did I misjudge NG+7 scaling. Her phase transition double moon slam AOE is an instant kill move, even at 99 vigor and morgotts great rune.
Damn you got lucky, after 50% she does that 9 or 10 hit combo where she just spins like crazy, i keep getting that and dying to it everytime.
