Went into it and after finding the hand to hand fist weapon I've been running a Cold Fist Monk so far with a Jar Helmet to help enhance jars since I don't really have other projectiles. Might consider the throwing weapon for those situations. Otherwise seeing a throwing dagger just gives more ideas towards an eventual Castlevania character build that would use whips, throwing weapons, and jars.
I'm bringing in a Lightning/Dex-Faith build. It's mostly lightning-based spells and weapons, but I've got some fire spells mixed in there for extra coverage since all the base-game Lightning spells are slower and/or like to be charged up. Great video. I am also looking forward to an NG8 with the new spells and weapons. Base game dark souls 3 had like 4 or 5. The weapons in Elden Ring were the biggest disappointment to me, with things like catalyst weapons and more creative paired weapons being nowhere to be seen. If this DLC can deliver on a transforming weapon like the aquamarine dagger or the ringed knight straight sword, I'll be fully satisfied. Everything I'd seen only elevates the game to the level of base DS3's weapons imo, if they can meet the expectations set by both DLCs, I'll finally quit complaining about this, even though I still think it's unforgivable the game launched with nothing more creative than standard weapons with several varieties of death laser that does a million bajillion damage on the weapon art.

So for anyone that didnt know, the mohg and morgott shackle items that are normally used to stun their respective bosses can be used in the base game (and the dlc) to reveal any hidden walls in a fairly large area. I belive this is becuase they do 0 damage to anything within a radius as part of a coding quirk in order to initiate their effect during the boss fight, meaning they can still technically hit things. However a new useful way to use these items in the dlc is to reveal the hidden spirit springs that would normally require a rock pile to be knocked over, I disovered this while looking for an invisible wall in a random enclosed area full of animals near a furnace golem in the north west of the map near the last of miquellas crosses. Due to the large radius its likely you dont actually have to hunt down that little rock pile for a lot of these spirit springs but can instead just slam the shackle on the floor.
I went in Str/Int. But I switched to Str/Arc for Impenetrable Thorns with Maternal staff, and also Heavy Beast Claws with bloodflame blade. The build also worked well for the final boss, only with (bleed aligned) GUTS Greatsword with the Spinning Gravity Thrust ash of War you get off of Commander Gaius' boss remembrance weapon.
Something else of note is really pay attention to the text when picking Remembrance items. A new staff doubles for both Sorcery and Incantations while Messmer's spear has a custom charged R2 that throws the spear. Actually not even just Remembrance items. Like the Black Steel Greathammer has a custom guard counter AND gets bonus damage from applying Golden Grease or Order's Blade to the weapon (not just making it Sacred though).
I run a high dex/faith build, focusing on armament buffs and weapon skills. The black steel weapons and the crucible incants/ashes make this build insane. Black steel twinblade with wings ash of war + crucible armour set (which increase the damage of crucible ashes) + holy order blade incant = Insta death
I went into it with a quality build favoring dex and using the Hand of Malenia. But I keep swapping Weapons around and found that the new Milady with Blood Tax on it is quite OP.

Your character is wearing the same armor and hood as mine so I had to double-take. We're you originally wearing the Carian Knight armor before as well?
I went in with pure strength. I haven't yet found anything that scales purely with strength, so I'm still sticking with the Great Axe (Wild Swings), the Nightrider Glaive (Giant Hunt) and the Rotten Battle Hammer (Also Wild Swings). I should give some of the new big weapons a try, even though they seem to be meant for Quality Builds, or Strength+Faith builds. It's served me well for the most part. I took down one of the colossal fire siege golems, and pretty much cleared everything I could without beating the first two bosses, but I'm really struggling with the main bosses. I still haven't beaten the Divine Dancing Lion or Rellana yet. With their high poise, tendency to jump around, and very small openings that they leave, it's hard to stagger them, and hard to get a read on their movements. I'm thinking of going back and reloading an old save with one of my other builds to see if they fare better.
Weapon catalyst! That what I want. Are there any straight sword version? Also 2:39 remind me of crow talon from ds3 but mostly on the throwing side. Also feels like lady butterfly weapon.

So close to what we already had in DS2, but yet it's another in a long line of disappointing carry overs from DS3.
Ok I just want to be sure I understand u, will there be multiple weapons that work like staffs/finger seals or just one each for sorceries and incantations
An Ash of War: (Incantation or Sorcery) which would've been better in the long run in my opinion. Though I don't see that happening now, especially since it's not the Carian Sorcery Sword's Ash of War. Sadly, the Carian Sorcery Sword appears to be a Somber weapon. Which means no changing the Ash of War, no Buffs, or Infusions.
Do the offhand perfume aplies extra status (aka you now do 2x more status total) or does it delude the original one so it does 1/2 and 1/2 of total status ? were any of the new casting weapons buffed ? since the reports are that the casting damage scaling on them is abysmall at best

I ran in with a Str Int arc with dex and faith being weak but usable(this character is close to level 200 so it’s still decent.
I’m pretty sure the sorcery sword is bugged is it not? No scaling for sorcery so spells just tickle enemies
I’m Dex faith and I’m excited for messmer’s spear
So many new options
I hope these work in the main game too
I cant wait to use the new weapon types in pvp! Definitely needed the nerf to madness and sleep.
I have a high int. And semi high faith. I'm hopeing to utilize faith better in the dlc
What is that armor with the purple cloak?
Ok I just want to be sure I understand u, will there be multiple weapons that work like staffs/finger seals or just one each for sorceries and incantations
An Ash of War: (Incantation or Sorcery) which would've been better in the long run in my opinion. Though I don't see that happening now, especially since it's not the Carian Sorcery Sword's Ash of War.
Sadly, the Carian Sorcery Sword appears to be a Somber weapon. Which means no changing the Ash of War, no Buffs, or Infusions.
Thank you. ❤❤❤❤
Do the offhand perfume aplies extra status (aka you now do 2x more status total) or does it delude the original one so it does 1/2 and 1/2 of total status ?
were any of the new casting weapons buffed ? since the reports are that the casting damage scaling on them is abysmall at best
I'm starting SOTE DLC with my level 170 dual katana, katana/meteorite build.
I hope there are more dragons or dragon spells for my Dragon Communion build!
